  1. Also in the West....

DO NOT USE GRAND TOYOTA IN WANGARA. Either when purchasing a new car or for servicng. I had three new cars through them and the sales team were great....except the after sales care is appalling....you are just a number and the place is always so busy, that your car is rushed through.

Agree.. I had the same experience with Grand Toyota

  2. - As I pull away - most of the time (not always) I get anything between a tap/tap tap through to CLUNK in the steering as I pull away. (Yes - sometimes I get two taps)

    - I have found that in a perfect straight line, I get little to no clunk, yet if I pull up with a smidge of lock on, or put a smidge of lock on as I pull away i get the tap/tap tap/clunk!.

I had similar symptoms - ie. when taking off a couple of clunks which seemed to come from the steering area but was actually from the front right strut.. It ended up being

a faulty strut bearing (my '07 prodigy has only done 30k km's ) - Toyota replaced it and the noise has gone..

  3. That's where my original dash creaks started coming from.. between the dash and windscreen on the passenger side. It disappeared, after they did the dash kit fix....

On a side note, I was also getting a knocking noise from the front drivers side of the car when taking off....Took it into Toyota, and they ended up replacing the front right strut bearing.

  4. Now that you mention this.

My Sportivo ZR6 may be suffering the same fate, just a few weeks after having the rear window seals changed for the same reason (leaking water into boot).

When I'm driving when tis raining, I hear water gushing down the drivers side pillar (B pillar or whatever it is, the one thats in the middle of the car on the sides). I thought it was normal but I might get it checked out now.

    Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah I get that too, and also thought it was normal. Let us know how you go mate.

  5. Had the dash "noise kit" fitted under warranty with the 30,000km service done at the same time - only took 1 day and everything seemed to have been put back as it's supposed to. Will need to drive it a bit more to determine whether the dash rattle has been fixed completely as I only picked up the car today.

Also had the rattling LHS center air vent and part of the center console replaced. The center console was rubbing against the piece of silver plastic underneath and taking the paint off as you move the console armrest forward and back.

I mentioned that lots of members on the forum complained that they had more problems after the dash has been taken apart than the original rattle - so the service manager said he'll request their "best technician" to do the job instead of just anyone available on the day. I just hope I don't have the same bad experience as some of the unlucky members on this forum. :P

hey mate, what's the feedback so far (i know it's only been a couple of days) and which dealer in WA did you take it too? I had the "noise kit" fitted back in September 2008. It was ok for a few months but now a different rattle occurs!! - like some clips have come loose near the driver side nr the windscreen.

  6. AFAIK there's no Toyota genuine headlight & bonnet protectors (correct me if I'm wrong)

I know there are bonnet protectors because I've seen them on cars, but no headlight protectors yet...I dont think...

Anyone know if there are any & where & $$?

    Im sick of stone chips.

Toyota genuine headlight & bonnet protectors are available. For a good idea of price, have a look at

  7. Anyone had there drivers side door drop ? I just took my SX6 for a service and asked the Toyota service guy to fix my drivers side door as it has dropped. The only reason I noticed this was cause the closing mechanism was a bit clunky. was only out by about 1mm.

Just picked it up and it's smooth as now. Service guy said it was a common problem . . . but it was free to fix (under warranty)

Yep, I've noticed my driver door a bit clunky lately too. Thanks Danos, I thought I was imagining things :-) I'll get 'em to fix it next service..

  8. I got quoted $625 for a removable hitch type towbar 50mmx50mm from Parkside Towbars in WA and $840 for a Hayman Reese 40mmx40mm from Auto Extra. Both use the genuine Toyota wiring loom. Ended up going with one from Parkside
