  1. I've had an 1992 RV6 since new. Which my dad bought, still as new, only 130,000kms.

We've never had real dramas with it - except refurbishing the aircon compressor, and it still blows ice on a 40deg day. You may also notice that the rear suspension tends to sag in all these cars, but aftermarket struts fixed this for us.

    Has never overheated.

    Top car!

Biggest downfall is its heavy on juice around town, but thats to be expected when compared to newer cars.

Have never had a Import one so cant really make a comparison.

I think the key to getting one of these as with any car is to get one with a decent service history.

  2. hello guys. i'm looking for a good place to install my springs. these are lowered 30mm ones. now i gotta quote from midas and they said it would be around $300. i also called mount druitt suspension and they quoted me $180-$250 installation including wheel alighnment. does anyone know a good suspension joint where i can get a better deal? or is mount druitt suspension a reasonable price??

    cheers

    pj

hey dude, i install mine at profix. $250 inc wheel alignment. u can ask them to bargain it down.

Hey Jahat... which profix was this you went to? i'm interested in lowering mine too.

    Cheers,

    L.

  3. At the moment I've taken the panel filter out... but first off I had it in, just in case there was debris inside it from making it. But even if you run with the panel filter in its still got to be a bit better than the tiny stock HAI.

Thats a good point about the hole in the bottom of the airbox too , Youre talking about the little vacuum actuated flap arent you? i forgot about that... hmmm <_<

Whats that actually used for?? obviously full TRD etc CAI dont have it.. might it cause some issues blocking it? maybe I'll just have to put some filter material over it or something..

  4. Yeah not too long at all really... the 75mm pipe is the perfect size, it fits perfectly under the fuse box.. the whole things pretty quick and easy to make its just a bit of trial an error to get the angles and lengths right..

    but it works a treat!

  5. Just built myself a cheap as CAI today!!! And love the induction noise!! Phoooowoar!!

    Cost:

    Less than $20*

Time to build - 6 hours + few beers :D

    What i used,

    K&N pod (*already had)

    30cm of 75mm PVC pipe,

    2x75mm 45deg bends,

    1x75mm 90deg bend

    Gasket Silicone (*already had)

100mm long bit of 3mm Aluminium Flat bar (*already had)

    Black paint (*already had)

This isnt a true CAI such as a TRD one etc but my GF said i couldnt spend anymore money on the car so i improvised.... and cant complain for $20..

The result is a completely stock and extremely slealthy install... :D

    What I did...

Modified the bottom section of the original stock intake box with a bit of 75mm pipe coming out of it and then routed some piping down to hang the Pod down behind the Fog light, and then removed the panel filter from the intake box, not as efficient as a straight linking pipe but I can definitely feel and hear the results!

Haven't downloaded the pics but I can put some up if anyones interested.

  7. Hey Guys,

I've only just recently picked up my Stivo and become active on this forum..

I'm potentially going to use Cornes Toyota on Unley Road to service mine cause thats where I bought it ....

But my parents etc have been getting theirs serviced at the Stephens Tce Toyota service centre for the last 5years with no probs at all, quite a friendly bunch.

I'd be keen to meet up with a few others if we meet up somewhere near the city sometime .. so thats 1!! :)

  10. my 215 40 18s put my speedo out by about 3% so its very managable.

9mm bigger on the overall diameter compared to the tyres on my 16s previously (620mm vs 629mm i think from memory. )

    L.

  11. I use Autoglym products..

specifically their Leather Care cream and their Vinyl and Rubber care products with a microfibre cloth... results are awesome..

I used to use armourall for everything in my last car but changed cause i found it too oily..

What do you all use for the inside of your tinted windows?

I would use windex, but i seem to remember reading on the back not to use it on tinted windows?

    L.

  12. I may potentially be in for some too, my dad was looking for some, depending on the final price.

These are for preface lifts yeah .. just wondering how come your looking to get some Xploshun, from your avatar i'd swear you were a facelift

    L.

  13. hmmm. Interesting how they reduce it... because that would then compress and speed up the air while it passes the MAFS... and being a 3in the CES has a considerable 30% increase in cross sectional intake area.. compared to the 66mm TRD..

Someone mentioned that there are some major differences of where the pod actually sits behind the front bar also..? restrictions etc.. from the VERY close under car photos i've been able to find they look to sit just clear of the hole they poke through...

Has anyone got a pic of the CES intake with their front bumper off ??

    L.

  14. i have confirmation of stock now from the supplier.

please get your names in asap.

the official price is $55 for sydney siders and $60 for out of staters as i will re post it once it arrives here in sydney.

i will start taking payments next week.

far out thats a bargain either way... i'm not fussed if there isnt anyone else from sa. :P

I'm definite for RED ones.. In Adelaide.

Are these things usually packaged well?? i hate getting 'new' bent bits and pieces .. :(

Should look sweet! I might be the only one in SA with them.. :D

  15. just out of interest...

some of you guys have mentioned the CAI pipe diameters here, specifically the AEM ones being the 2.5" piping...

And have said that the bigger CES piping 'can' 'possibly' "tip toes" make more power...

How much bigger we talking in diameter? ...what diameter is the CES CAI in comparison, is it a 3inch or something..?

wheres these pics that everyones been mentioning...

  16. Thanks everyone...

    yeah micks is pimpiiiin B)

For the mo i'll prob consider just the lows, i'm really worried about scrubbing with the 18x7.5s.. and didnt really have to worry about it.. i imagine from what i've been reading the lows shouldnt give me too many problems... I wish there was more Adelaidieans on here with mods that I could check out...

I'll get a quote in the next week or so.. i'd do the install myself ..go DIY :yahoo: ..

how much for the super low springs alone would be a good price? from other topics i've been seeing $300iiish... but i think those were for super lows

I'll soon find out whether my 'mate' really is giving me good prices ... <_<

    L.

  17. I like em they look sweet!! nice one.. now people might not kick my sills... <_<

I'm interested but i'm in SA.. anyone over here interested??? Let me know..

Do they come as a set for all 4 doors, or just the 2 fronts? (i think thats a yes from the other topic i just read)

I'm guessing they'll suit any year, such as my 03 stivo?

    L.

  18. not sure corzza, I'm by no means a tyre expert...youd have to find someone with one of those little books with all the load ratings...

alternatively could just give your local tyrepower a call?

Or if you know the weight of the corolla check this bridgestone website page.. you might be able to suss it out..

    Bridgestone Tyre Info

    L.

  19. Thanks for the details Tayles...

And thanks for the input guys.. I've recently put 18x7.5 wheels on so i'm pretty sure i cant use the super dooper lowws :( with out having to worry about scrubbing.. which i dont really...

doh... it does look nice thoughh.. those actually look pretty low just for lows..

I will do some more detailed searching on the memb rides!

    Thanks again everyone!

    L.

  20. Hey everyone,

I considering lowering my 03 sportivo using king spring lows. looking for that 35mm drop.. which i believe the right part #s are

    KTFL105 and KTFL106

I've been searching all over this forum reading the million and one posts trying find a direct comparison of the spring heights but cant seem find what i'm looking for...

My question is for all you knowledgeable ground huggers....

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the sportivo springs were 25mm lower that a standard corolla?

and if so is the claimed 35mm king spring drop related to the standard corolla height or the sportivo height?? or are there different spring part numbers for the sportivo and standard rolla?

    Cheers, L.

  21. :yahoo: Got em on Saturday..

18x7.5, +40 offset. with 215/40/18 within load rating.. rubbers... no scrubbering

Still needs to be lowered but they add alot i reckon..
