  1. Well thanks for your input those that have tried them good to hear one way or the other more snake oil on the market so to speak, I had a similar experience with motor up no difference what so ever $39.99 down the drain so to speak that was when i had the MPV.

  2. Is there anyone who can edit the Corolla auto shift programming? I have a 2006 Corolla and at low speed, the shifting can be hesitant and jerky. This seems to be mainly because it is programmed to stay in 3rd/4th all the time and only shift to 1st/2nd AFTER you hit the pedal. Result is the occasional big ***** (not the driver).

Can Toyota dealers do it ? Are there any after market shops in Sydney that are known to be able to do it ?

    Cheers

How does it drive at low speed with the O/D off ? try it and see if there is any difference not sure about the reprogramming of the AT shift, haven't herd of anyone wanting to do the but would be interested to know if it can be done.

  3. while we're on this topic, can someone recommend some good auto transmission fluid?

Done about 73000km on the car and the fluid hasnt been change. Im starting to think its time,

While under warranty, Toyota demand that you ONLY use ATF that meets JWS3309 spec. This means Toyota T-IV ATF or Mobil 3309 ATF

Having said this, there are quite a few better fluids that are "compatible" with Toyota auto trans requiring T-IV. Examples include AMSOIL universal ATF, Penrite SIN ATF, Castrol Import ATF just to name a few ...

It really depends on whether you are still under factory warranty or not

My old MPV was playing up in the trans was making funny noises and slipping when cold I got it serviced $210.00 and it went fine but the shop that did the job said it was showing signs of wear as there were debris in the filter your corolla may just need a service.

  4. Finally sick of putting my back seats up and down to carry my bike around. And its getting difficult now the son comes riding with me. When I take the Camry with the tow bar the wife drives the Sportivo which is not good.

She has scratched the silver trim with a ring already.

So had a quote at $504 fitted (wired) by Toyota.

Anyone got one or an aftermarket they can recommend that would be cheaper.

Sounds like big bucks for a tow bar they are averaging $300.00 fitted here in NZ wiring extra but it is easy to D I Y I had the dealer get one fitted when I brought my 97 Spacio but they had to get one made from an engineering firm here in town not sure what the cost was but you might like to try some engineering places where you live could be a lot cheaper or a tow bar -exhaust specialist check your yellow pages???

  5. Should have the manifold - flex joint - CAT - middle resonator - rear muffler

Thanks for that seams I have no middle resonator just the CAT and large rear muffler the reason I am asking is I think the fuel economy is not as good as it could be but I haven't had the car long. I have got hold of a owners manual and they state the fuel economy to be about 13k/L or about 650K per tank 50L. I will keep an eye on the consumption and see. Yes it is an import we are flooded with them here in NZ.
