  5. hi all

the forum has been great , just wondering if some one could help me understand the noise on my toyota avensis 2006

when its turned on , mainly when its hot day or AC on , I hear some muffling noise , no loose parts or rattling

had a look under bonnet , everything looks good

I will upload a video but putting it out there to see if some one knows anything about it

    much appreciated

    thanks

What you are describing is normal for any vehicle. It is more a case of how close the vehicle is when it overtakes you. The closer the vehicle, the greater the wind effect.

On the open highway, I noticed this effect when I had an oncoming semi-trailer. I learnt to move over to the left to widen the gap between our vehicles and this dramatically reduced the wind effect.

thanks campbeam , much appreciate it

haven't specifically felt more in other cars , for eg you sit in a Holden commo and a vehicle overtakes you , hardly feel a thing , may be its more in this model of Toyota - Avensis - any one else who owns a Avensis want to share

    thanks guys

  7. hey Guys , you have  been awesome in the forum

just wondering if its my car

purchased a 2006 Avensis - in excellent condition , logbooks and all I have been keeping it that way

Nothing wrong with it , drives beautifully but I can feel that the Car wobbles not wobbling exactly , I mean lets say if you are at a signal turning right and you have passing traffic at speed of 80 km or more or you have stopped stopping lane in a highway , every time a car passes thru you can feel while in car the car shakes a bit as if its going to be blown away by force as if its shallow , is it normal for Avensis

guess , you can get my point

Of course you are going to read horror stories on the internet. When you trace back to the underlying cause, it usually comes down to lack of regular maintenance or a part failing.

Time to stop worrying, go for that test drive and put your mind at ease. Your past maintenance has paid off.

I am very much into preventative maintenance and taking a step in time to save 9. It pays to regularly check under the hood at all of the fluid levels. Recent experience and learning is to investigate further any warning lights that briefly appear then disappear.

thanks campbeam for your good advice

  12. hi allI have a second hand Toyota avensis 2007  , excellent condition and  used it very sparingly as its my second car , always maintained it very well , all genuine parts  and I absolutely love it and want to maintain it that way , as I don't drive it regularly I turn it on for about 15 mins and turn it off so that battery doesn't run flat but the other day I have turned it on and completely forgot about it and left it overnight idling , not sure what damage that might have caused the engine , I took it for a test drive - didn't notice any difference ( atleast not to my knowledge ) - should I be worried about engine wear ,,, please advise and also looking for a good  honest mechanic around caroline springs area Melbourne who does not charge arm and leg  - any recommendations please please thanks heaps

p.s ; Any tell tale signs that any damage that idling has done , any suggestions , thanks heaps
