I own a 2001 Toyota Corolla Runx 1800cc 2ZZ-GE engine w/ the 6-speed gearbox and I am thinking about installing both the TRD radiator pressure cap and the TRD thermostat, however I would like to hear from people who have both of these products installed if they ever had any problems with their radiators "springing a leak" shortly after these products were installed due to the increased pressure that the system will be under due to the higher-pressure radiator cap.
Just for analytical purposes, I think, unless I am proven otherwise that these upgrades will give the engine a greater temperature band to run in without getting unnessarily hot since the standard pressure cap operates at 88kPa which means that the water in the system will boil out at 96 degress Celsius whereas, with the new cap its rating is 127 kPa with a corresponding boiling temperature of 106 degreres Celsius, also the new thermostat opens at 71 degrees Celsius therefore, the operating range of my engine can be anywhere between 71 - 106 degrees Celsius with the cooling fans cutting in at 93 degrees Celsius as they normally do, however, my only concern with this upgrade is the issue I think there might be with the radiator.
Can anyone share their thoughts and experiences. Thanks
hey there i have both in my car as well as hondata gasket and it run lots cool and more efficent been in there for about 40000 km and had no probems with it all cheers jason

hey there you can run 18s if you like just as long as it dosent exceed no more then 15mm of the total diameter of you wheel
eg 195 55 16 sportivo stck wheel = 620 mm
215 35 18 = 607 mm so it just with in the 15 mm rule or
215 35 19 = 633 which is still legal as well you just cant exceed the total width by 25 mm or it can be illegal also
hope this can help you out cheers jason

I agree with Azza, don't waste time and take the car back to your dealer. The first 2000 kms you need to take it easy running in the motor.
hi there mate i have had the same thing its ok nothing wrong with your car .. when you car is underload ie light or air con the idle will drop.. and this was our problem .. they just bumped the idle up a 100 rpm prolbem solved cheers jason and enjoy your new sportivo .. :D

hi there guys just to add something a little differnt to this topic. i went to my dealer .. about the gearbox .had a look at the travel and fixed it .. but they also said they dumped the gear box oil and it had **** it self .. and said if its driven hard the oil needs to be replaced ever 30ks not 60 and not to uses synthetic oil as they have been add to the problem .. well let me no what u guys think hey .. but the cars drivin like a dream now very happy
-
it sounds like u r have upset your air flow meter .. what model corolla .
-
Yep have check with my insurance and they said no prob. :)
1zz-fe is right, with 18" u might loose some confort over 17" due to lower profile tyres. But i don't mind, because i have a fat *****, so it is still comfortable for me :D :D
So netz go for 18", man.
hey there guys i have 18s on our car and havent lost any performance fromour car . then its all in the way u set your suspension up .. the rolling diameter hasnt changed .. if anything it hooks up a bit quicker because of the stiffer wall side .. hey this is just my opinion cheers :D and happy rolling
