  1. Hi All, The fact that this proposed installation is on a HiAce is somewhat irrelevant, nevertheless it is...

I have a Kenwood 2021 head unit (DDX9020DABS) fitted to my 2010 HiAce commuter which has no steering wheel controls at all.

I also have fitted an aftermarket cruise control. Both work fine, but I want steering wheel control as well.

I have, ready to install, a Camry steering wheel (and clockspring) with all the controls I will need. Audio, Phone and cruise control. I also have the cut off plugs from the Camry wiring loom to fit the relevant plugs on the clockspring.

What I need is to establish how the buttons relate to the wiring. I believe the Kenwood senses various resistances among only 3 wires, but I cannot sense (with my multimeter) anywhere that resistance changes when the buttons are pressed. I HAVE found such resistive changes on the cruise control switch, but not on the phone or audio controls.

    Hope you can help.

    Cheers

    Tony
