  1. give Steve the Crown man a call, 0412 711 481 there is a good chance he will have one

Google him he has lots of bits advertised on Toymods over the years

I'd been ken to see a top show car Ms55, My MS53 is done to a higher standard

  2. I'm not sure that redbook is the foremost authority on the values of Classic Japanese cars.

Without knowing the condition of the vehicle there's no way of giving a value. Advertise it for what you would like. If you get no calls then it's probably too expensive.

    There are many variables.

Depends on how neat it is, unfortunatley these old girls don't have the following of the early aussie cars. I would say anywhere from $500 to $6000 depending on condition

    (02) 6882 3944

    meetingpoint.jpg

Ok once we head out of homebush and up to Victoria Road then through the city, once head of of the city over the harbor bridge stick to the right lanes and we take the Ernest street exit and follow the signs to Manly. Over the Spit and its right at the top of the hill and down Sydney Road

    City.jpg

Once in Manly its up to North Head and then out again

    manly1.jpg

To get out of we to take Harbord Rd to take us to Warringah Road.

    manly2.jpg

Ok final meet up point is just south of palm beach at an oval where we can all get together and get some photos of the cars and toliets there too. Its Hitchcock Park, just near a BP on Barrenjoey Road and there is Tennis Courts on the park. For all of you with a GPS its just north of the intersection of Barrenjoey Road and Whale Beach Road.

As always the Toymods BBQ will be fired up.

I will be inviting all the other Toyota Clubs I could think of

I'd also like to get some Newcastle and Canberra Interest as well to make it really big

If any one has any issues, gets lost, wants to meet along the cruise route please feel free to call me on 0401 624 192

Its a great day out and a great photo opp.

  8. Tape measure is your friend. Measure how high from the guard to where you want the wheel to sit, thats how big your lowering blocks should be. Its a direct relationship, as for the front again armed with your tap measure start winding. I'm not up on Vic's rules but I'd say the lowest you could go is 100mm

  9. Toymods is the place to go the dedicated Crown thread has lots of info in it.

What sort of V8 did you want the old Toyota 3,4 and 5V's are getting really old in the tooth, and really rare and not sure if it would bolt to the standard box.

The Lexus 1UZFE as well as having the Hastle of EFI (ECU's and fuel systems) doesn't really fit without massive mods into a 50 series chassis however most other series of crowns it almost bolts into.

So that leaves you with Ford or Holden 8's would be all custom mounts and bell housings, or box to suit engine with custom gear box mount. There has been a few over the years for sale with other marques 8's in them

  10. OK

The address for this park is CNR of Silverwater Road and Clyde street, however the park is in the short half of the street on the opposite side of Silverwater road. So if you punch in into your GPS turn the opposite way at the lights to get into the park.

Its RIGHT into the park from Parramatta road, and LEFT into the park if you are coming from Victoria Road. So if coming up from Parra Road turn Right just before Silverwater Bridge, If coming from Victoria Road Turn left at the lights after Silverwater Bridge

There are signs that say the road is for buses only to homebush, however the bus lane starts after the turn in for the car park

IF because of the Super Taxis we can't get into the carpark we will meet in Fariola St, near SAS where Toymods Dyno Days are held. Fariola street is just beck towards Parra road.

This should be a great day out I hope we get over the 100 cars, again there should be a great BBQ on so remember your small change

When you come to the meeting spot look for the V8 Crown and the Toymods Banner thats where we'll be.

  11. Wondering if anyone has some good advice on what I should do with my Crown. I've only had it a few months and the head gasket went, I've been quoted $900 to replace it and I am pretty sure it went due to not being particularly smart on icy mornings and the such but in the high risk that it is because the heads are warped or cracked I made some enquiries on engine prices.

A re-conditioned engine is out of the question but a 2nd hand jap import can be put in for around $1500, I am almost leaning toward doing this as the idea of paying $900 for a new gasket only to find there is more to it isn't fun.

At the same time though, I know very little about the reliability of a 2nd hand import engine.

This car is meant to be my daily drive and right now I am on a tight budget but know I will be for a long time in the future too so even if it costs a little more now I just want to find the smartest most economic way to do it, any suggestions?

What is in it now 4M?? What import engines are you talking about, I dobt you could get a new old 4M, yeah 7m's 1J's and 2j's can be had for that kind of coin however there is alot of other coin associated with getting one of them running in the car.

I re did the head on x2 4m's (different cars) and had no other with the heads on those blocks. If done and done properly, with coolant you will be fine. 7M's have most of the head gasket issues casue of the boost added to the equation.

where are you located and do you have an early or late 4M as I think I may still have a reco'd head with low km's around

  12. Well its time to Mega Cruise
