  1. I noticed that a new United Petrol Station just opened up near my area, and this isn't just your normal United Petrol Station. This United is now selling Premium100 100 Octane Fuel with 10% Ethanol. I don't know what the prices are the same as Shell's V-Power Racing. I'm guessing it probably would be as it has more ethanol then Shell does (10% vs 5%). I'm a bit tempted to try it. My ZRE152 Corolla Manual probably get no benefits out of it.

Generally I only fill up ethanol once in a while or when prices for unleaded petrol sky rocketed for the week. I have noticed that on the Hyundai site, they recommend you that 1 in 5 tank fill is 100% petrol.

Even though Toyota says the new Corolla is compatibile with Ethanol blended fuel, its not wise to always fill up with Ethanol. Sometimes I noticed a bit of roughness when the engines revves.

Let me know on your thoughts.

  2. I ordered my Corolla Levin SX back at the start of December, and it wont be arriving until Early April from what I can tell by Toyotas Online Tracker thing.

Anyways! I was looking at doing some very minor modifications to the car to help put abit of a sporty image on it.

I was looking at getting the Kappy Alloy Wheels from Toyota, I do have a contact who can get them alot cheaper! (~$800) however with that in mind, they wont come with rubber, so I was wondering what type of Rubber people recommend to put onto these wheels? I wasent looking at the best of the best rubber, just the best bang for your buck kind of rubber. So not rubbish, but not the best of the best.

$800 for Kappa Wheels? Where abouts are they selling them at that price? I wouldn't mind getting a set myself.

  3. I am interested in replacing my stock Accent Tyres and Hub Caps for a set of 17" Kappa Alloy Wheels.

Does anyone know where is the cheapest place to buy them from? Also, what kinda good performance tyres would match the wheels

  4. I was really lucky to received my Silver Corolla in one week. Bought it on the 30th June 2007 (last day of the financial year). Bought it with no options at all and bargin the price down to almost staff discount prices. :yahoo:

I know of stories with owners of Mazda3 who had to wait a lot more longer, because Japan production could not meet demands. They even had to build another factory to pump out more cars.

By the way, how many kilometres did your car have when you first bought it. Mine had 1km, the dealer reckons that is rare and I should be lucky.

  5. To me that just means that Caltex has a greater Ethanol Content which isn't all that good for your car if it hasn't been designed to run with such Ethanol content.

If you say that Caltex has greater Ethanol content, then how would have Caltex come first for fuel efficiency. Ethanol contains less Heat Energy compared to petrol. Fuel consumption is meant to be a lot more higher when petrol is blended with Ethanol. On the upside it's a boost in the Octane Rating.

  6. I have to say I'm not a fan of the electronic throttle. Anyone agree with me?

I've gotten used to it, but the Camry's conventional throttle is so much better.

With the Corolla, I would get nearly no response, then a sudden surge past a point.

Eletronic Throttle Control? Are you sure the new Corolla has it? I've read the specs on the Toyota website and it made no mention of it at all.

  7. I currently own a Toyota Corolla Accent Manual Hatchback, and I say it drives like a mini-MPV. Being a rear torsion-rear beam suspension setup explains why there is a lot of body roll around corners. It doesn't hug corners like the Mazda 3. The car engine needs a rev to get the most out of it, preferably above 4000 rpm, even then the engine starts to scream. It'll be interesting next year or during the next facelift if they'll replace the torsion rear-beam with the multi-rear link suspension, with the ESP.

At the end of the day, the Corolla is a car to get you from A-B.

I got my Corolla for $21,200 driveaway. Tight ****s didn't thrown in any free accessories

  8. i owned a levin sx, its true that its heavier, but you are getting a few extra 7kw of power, so that makes up for it. Fuel aint too bad...i'm still getting 9.2L/100km on my clock..but its gradually coming down. jsut hope it will hit the stated 7.6l range..i just use shell unleaded

How do you know that you are getting an extra 7kw of power from using Shell Unleaded? What type of Shell Unleaded fuel are you referring to? Has anyone tried ethanol fuel yet in their car?

  9. As a proud owner of a 2007 ZRE152R Corolla Accent 6 speed manual, I'm a bit weary about the engine performance the car. Its true that the new model is now heavier than the model it replaces and has affected the cars performance and fuel consumption.

Lately I have been filling the car up with either Shell Unleaded 95 and United PLUS ULP (with 10% ethanol). Both of which I have not seen in real improvements to the performance of engine. I usually get about 7.6L/100km to 7.8L/100km. Later down the track I'll be filling it up with BP Ultimate and see how that goes.

Are there any other 2007 ZRE152R Corolla owners who have made any performance gains from filling up with other peformance fuel?
