  1. I have the same vehicle. I normally use Nulon Ultra 5w-30, replaced every 5000km. I notice this issue as the car approaches the 5000km mark.

    Come to think of it I used to use 10w-40 Nulon and I don’t remember it making the noise as much. 

  2. My car has developed a clunking noise from the right front area. Seems to happen when shifting from reverse to drive, and also when going over some bumps. Seems to be intermittent, and the only started after having the car at the mechanic having water pump and brakes replaced. I’m guessing it’s either driveshaft of suspension? Do you guys have any ideas?

  3. Arhh awesome I’ll make sure to check the filter. I do the regular 5000km oil changes, don’t remember seeing sludge particles per se. Thankyou kindly. Quick question Ash, I remember in your oil sludge thread using mention using diesel as a flush. Is this diesel fuel or oil designed for Diesel engines? Do you completely empty the engine and refill with 6 litres of diesel?

  4. Thanks Ash for your write up. I decided to get some oil flush today and will follow a similar method. I’ve bought the Nulon ultimate oil flush, which apparently is soap based rather than solvent. We’ll see how it goes.

    im not sure how ‘sludgey’ my engine is, but can see a lot of varnish when looking through oil fill hole.

  5. Hi guys,

    I have a 2007 TRD Aurion, 220000km on the clock. I notice on hard acceleration there is some hesitation (normal for an auto as I imagine the torque converter is spinning up) but also a slight shudder. I don’t remember if this has happened before. What could this be? I’ve heard that if the transmission fluid has not been changed in a long time then it shouldn’t be changed? 

    I’ll take it to a transmission specialist eventually, just need to get over the shock of the $4k I’ve spent on this car recently on fixing things. 

  6. Updating this thread as we are talking about sway bar qualities. A company called Drive Industries make a 20mm rear sway bar for the Aurion. Have anyone heard of it/used it? It's significantly more expensive then the Ultra Racing, and 1mm bigger diameter, is it worth it?

  7. First mods, Ultra Racing front and rear strut bars. Front was easy as can be, the rear needed removal of the rear seat. Not too hard, but as always there were a few plastic clips left over! It seems the rear already had a diagonal rear strut bar, was this stock or specific to TRD? Figured I'd add the new one in as well as the seats were already out. I'll report back with any changes in handling.

  8. Hi everyone,

    Just purchased a 2007 TRD Aurion 3500S, with approx 190000km on the clock. Car appears to be generally well kept and serviced. I've had a few older Camrys in the past, and always feel comforted by the Toyota reliability. I almost purchased a Renault Sport Megane 225 but the thought of reliability issues brought me back to sanity!

    What should I be checking for in this Aurion to keep it running well? I've noticed on the forum about the oil sludge issues, so regular oil changes are a must. Does the supercharger feed off of engine oil or have its own dedicated supply? Thinking of a catch can from reading another thread on this forum.

    What suspension mods would be a good idea for some occasional track work? Looking at Ultra Racing, they have some various braces. Which would be needed for the TRD model? What about poly bushes, are they needed, where could I get these? Ive also seen Titan coilovers for approx $1550, what are the quality of these like?

    Also the centre console does not feel secure. It can shift laterally about 2cm left and right, which means it rattles around when driving. Have any other Aurions had this issue, and how have you guys fixed it?
