  1. Just thought I'd let you all know the price of these plugs appears to have jumped. Made several phone calls, both Toyota spares and other mobs and they all wanted in the vicinity of around $34 per plug!

I therefore suggest if you need them, the denso ones are easy to find on ebay (part number FK20HR11) and can be delivered from the states for around $100 total. Loving this exchange rate.

    Got my set coming!

Called up Toyota MELVILLE in Perth, W.A.

They quoted me $40 each... for Toyota Spark plugs!

Should've asked if they were gold plated... lol

  2. Last night when turning off the engine, my Presara told me the battery for my key is too low. The car is nearly 3 yrs old and my other Toyota (Vienta Grande) is nearly 11 yrs old but the keys from the other car are still ok. I even use the keys of the Presara very little interms of pressing them.

My qutestion: how long the batteries inside the keys of the Presara normally last ?

    BH

My car is kind of for work. so majority of the time when i'm at the refinery i have to leave my key in the car (ZR6)

i had a remote battery life of 26months.

  3. Hey guys, my neighbour's car just got broken into couple of nights ago (she also drives an Aurion) and it got me thinking, does anybody have aftermarket/OEM alarms fitted to their car?

I was considering the Auspack DVD player to replace my stockie in the Prodigy but with recent theft in my area, I figured it would be worthwhile getting some extra security first - any suggestions?

Hey HEY!! Just got my car back with the Auto watch Alarm system installed (Product from Knightwatch Ltd).

If you're interested and in Perth.. go to Westside Car Audio in Cannington..

Best to call them first.. Price is reasonable..

There is no alarm remote. well there is but its intergrated into the Keyless Remote system..

So on and off works the Same but the beeping sound you get when you arm the car is different..

Two sets of different beeps at the same time.. one from the original Aurion alarm and the other Auto watch alarm..

Installation takes approximately 2hrs. Alarm comes with Window breaking alert & Sensors installed inside the car.

I hope the photos are attached below..

    Just uploaded Video in Youtube..

Was just told today by the Audio shop that i got my stereo done (Perth) that there's an Alarm system for my Aurion ZR6 with the Keyless remote entry. They've quoted me a cheaper price because they said they need my car for mapping.. and that i would be the first to have the alarm..I'm not sure if thats true but i've got my car booked in tomorrow for the installation.. apparently the alarm is armed/disarmbed via the same remote.. I'm not a Car wizz but i'll find out more tomorrow and post it up later..

for those who don't think the alarm is worth it.. my fren had his car broken into while it was raining.. outside his frens house..

if he had Known.. the interior of the car wouldn't be Soaked.. he could've prevented further damage/cost to his car..

So yeh.. will post again soon.. cheers..

  7. Hey DJKor, I just bought a QTP Cutout as well.. didn't know it was that hard to find someone to install it. Anyways do you regret having installed the electric cutout. I've been quoted for $300 to $400 to install it. and well after reading your post, i'm abit reluctant to go ahead with this. Buttt. i've bought the dam thing already :( lol.. will this sound very obvious when fully open? I would've gone with an actual exhaust system but i have spark arrestors that have been designed to fit onto the original exhaust tips. (For refinery work) so i've decided to go with the Electric Cutout. I'll probably go ahead with thei installation but i would like to hear what you think about it. Hope to hear from you soon... xoxo.. haha.. >.<

That's a bit expensive to install it. If you have the cut out, all a muffler shop needs to do is to cut a small section out and weld the cutout in. Cost me like $30 in labour to have it fitted. Wiring, if you don't do it yourself, should not cost too much either.

After having it for five months now, all I can say is that it is cheap and dodgey, but does the job of increasing the noise just like removing the rear mufflers. It hasn't had any issues with it's operation, and the only problem I have come across is the occasional scrape on a steep surface. I could have easily overcome that by mounting it further back, and I would highly suggest putting it close to the rear muffler split to avoid this.

The sound it makes after the resonator is very smooth and at first seems loud (well it did for me), but in comparison to other cars out there, it is actually pretty quiet. I mainly got it because at the time the US dollar was nearly 1 for 1. I was cheap at the time. Now that I'm starting to get a little more money and I have been quite satisfied with the sound of the engine with everything after the resonator dropped, I'm going to put get something much more 'professional'.

Hey, just had my car looked at on a hoist. The guy figured out where u put it but he's not sure about the wiring... i'm not sure either coz i'm a noob with a black car.. haha.. Anyways.. i wana research before i get this done.. a few questions.. how did u get the wiring thru into the car? was it thru the steering column? if so was it really hard? (i need pointers >.< Pleasee!) was the wiring itself long enough? coz the guy thought about putting it closer before the exhaust splits.. but there's too many things in the way.. i'm already thinking of selling the Cutout instead..haha.. abit annoyed!.. do you have any other photos? coz the ones that u've posted up don't show up as fullsize photos, only as thumbnails. if you can could u tell me a detailed installation? much appreciated.. thanx

thanks for the quick Reply!.. aite i'm gona go ahead with it.. Yeh crappy currency cost me just below AUD$500 to buy the item and ship it over...

  9. So before I get on with the bulk of it, I'll start of with a couple of points.

    1) I most certainly know about the issues I will run into should I ever get busted for it. I am willing to take that risk. No need for anyone else to state the obvious to me.

    2) Yes, I know this seems like a messy modification. The more cleaner method would have been a Varex solution, but I chose not to go down that path. This is what I wanted to do so here it is:

For years now, I have been looking at these things called 'electric cutouts'. I liked the idea of them, but this was during my phase when I was about to buy a 200SX. When I got the Aurion, I thought I would never go ahead with it for this car. So a couple of Saturday's ago, while helping to install a mates (Grande_TRD) HID's, his neighbour offered to remove my rear mufflers so I could go for a drive and hear how it sounds. Well after that drive, I though I would buy one for the fun of it. I went online, ordered one for USD$199 and waited about 5 days for it to arrive.

Here are some photos of it that I took just before I had it installed, and then a couple of pictures of it underneath the car:

    dsc02723ie4.th.jpg dsc02724uv6.th.jpg dsc02725jt9.th.jpg dsc02898im1.th.jpg dsc02901pe7.th.jpg

I have mounted it just behind the resonator so effectively all it is cutting out is just the two rear mufflers, essentially replacing the need for a twin Varex setup. I would have wanted to mount it further back towards the y-split in the exhaust, but due to the size of the cutout, it wasn't quite as possible. Additionally, it would be way more obvious from behind in that spot and would give me a greater chance of being caught with it. As well, I have a feeling that I run a higher risk of it scraping if it were mounted further back.

I didn't want to put it in front of the resonator because in my opinion, it is already really loud without the rear mufflers. That is my opinion anyway. The butterfly is completely variable and is controlled with a switch that I have mounted in the centre console. It take just under 5 seconds to go from one end to the other. The problem that you get with these units however is that when they hit full open or full close, if you keep power applied to the stalled electric motor, it will reduce it's life. Next week when I have time, I will build an electronic motor controller which will detect the limits and cut power to the motor to keep it from wearing out.

As you can see from the photos, the ground clearance on this is pretty low. I measured 90mm. So far with only myself in the car, I have had no issues on any driveways or speed bumps that I have encountered over the last couple of days. Surely once the rear is loaded up, this will be bound to change, but I'll just continue to take it easy and hope for the best.

In relation to the sound, when wide open it sounds nice but is pretty loud. It's to the point where I think that maybe this idea was a little over the top. Buyers remorse then starts to settle in. Either way, I figure I can just keep it closed when I don't want it making noise, and if and when I finally get sick of it, I can just replace the electric cutout for a blank plate that will remain bolted on.

As for any other gains from this installation, I guess I will say none. When cruising down around with it open, it appears that my average fuel consumption as calculated by the on-board computer goes down by about 0.2-0.5 L/100km, but that could have been caused by anything. Throttle response? It feels like it is ever so slightly improved when the valve is fully open, but that is probably my head messing with me. As well, it is most likely back-pressure related, but acceleration at lower speeds (where the accelerator isn't pushed hard) seems to feel a bit worse. I say feel because I haven't really compared it. It is probably two-fold as well since my mind is also registering all this extra noise yet no gain. It's really hard to say based on driving around the street.

Now I tried to get a video, but I only have a point-and-shoot with a pretty basic microphone. I took a video from the side looking at the cutout so you can hear the variation. The video doesn't do it any justice. In person and under load it sounds much different. I was also going to take video from different angles, but since I did this from home and I have neighbours around, I didn't want to keep up the noise for a while. You should get the idea though.

Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!

  11. oh man. i thought it was just me hearing wrongly early in the wee morning.. it hasn't happened recently but it has happened a few times.. u get the sound at the beginning wen u start and u just know its not good.. even if we brought it back to toyota, we would have to show them rite? say if something Was to go wrong wif the pistons, then it would n should be covered by warranty.. i just hope i don't have to bring my car for repairs anytime soon..

  12. Gj Bondie..

Btw, is the black plain grill similar to those on the SqueezeMe's 1?

Damn.. Nothin's similar to the TRD's one...Reckon that grill is the best by so far...

I got my Grill from the same guys that Bondie has gotten in contact with. The mesh was already black n i didn't request for it. I just took what they had and hoped for the best lol.. However!.. i'm not sure if the clips holding the Grill were broken/missing during its trip to Perth but i had to add in my own clips (Cable tie n silicon glue) lol.. In the end the Grill turned up quiet nice.. I guess u get what you pay for..

  13. Hi.

I remember there are some posts about this issue and ppl say toyota or Aerpro sell the kits for fitting after market headunit into the place.

However, I got some questions here about both kits from toyota and Aerpro.

When you have a look at Aerpro, I don't see any kits could fit on my aurion but some ppl already got some from Aerpro and they all fit.

Which one did you order if you have one from Aerpro?

Another question here is about toyota's one.

I think AcoustiK has one from toyota and he's got Double din one, right?

I purchased my dvd/cd player with monitor and it is 2 x single din unit.

in this case, does toyota's one fit with those? or it is just gonna fit only with double din one?

cos I have seen some double dins which don't allow to put 2xsingle din units in.

    Any advice?

Answer to #2, you can get a facial kit, which is opened to only double din headunits, so i assume you can fit 2x single din units. Otherwise, you can use 1single din unit and buy a pocket @ JB.

i got my facia kit of ebay in jan 08.. the camry in US have the same head unit as our aurions.. so i just purchased a facia kit for a camry.. lol.. mine came with 2 pockets.. single din or double din.. i noticed one problem with the facia kits.. it fits perfectly in normal/cold weather.. but wen it gets hot.. say 36 degrees and about.. the kit kinda shrinks and there's a gap of about 1/3 of a cm on the top of the facia, under the aircon ducts.. but it goes back to normal wen everything cools down.. i'm not sure about the toyota facia kits. i haven't seen them..

  14. Over such a large surface it i will be tough to keep the bend in the shape that you want even if it can be bent. It is very likely that it will need supports behind it to give it structure. If you dont, there's a good chance, some idiot in a car park will most likely walk past and bump it and it will all bend out of shape.

if ya put it thru a sheetmetal roller it will give it some strength (i know this caus ethis is what i do for a living) and dont use the supercheap crap either, either get some staino mesh or some ally mesh and paint it or leave it.

as far as fixing i havent looked at mine but if u go to a plastic welder and get him to weld tags onto the back of the bumper then put some bumper clips or similiar in to hold it

p.s. make sure u put the badge back on itll look to plain

i reckon u should leave the badge off... it looks good without it.. u can have a look at my profile photo..

  15. Does anyone speak Thai?? Im getting no where with these emails.

I already tried contacting these guys several times since the end of June. they don't bother replying.. i bought my grille there Mid May.. and they spoke english to me. i think they are just lazy.. i was planning to go again in October to see what new stuff they had but plans changed.. i'm gona buy 20" rims n suspension for my car.. lol..

  16. Hey SqueezeMe. Is 'BLCKLABEL' what you got for your personalised plates that you were talking about? That's cool that you guys can have up to 9 characters on your plates.

lol.. Yeh.. i'm pretty happy about my plates.. its funny watching ppl walk past and saying BLCKLABEL.. haha..

  17. Where can I find this grill? Found the pic on the Thailand Camry website.

    259381747.jpg

Otherwise Ill have to DIY it...

Hey!.. i don't think u can get them in Australia yet.. i got mine from MBK Shoppin centre in Bangkok for like $100 aussie.. i fit it myself but i didn't have to respray it coz it suits the black plastic bits on my Aurion.. i've tried emailing the guys back in thailand but they don't seem to reply to english emails.. lol.. all the best.
