Hi Wayne, I’ve just had the same issue occur in my 2016 RAV4! 120000km, failed car transmission bearings! Now facing a hefty repair bill! 

Hi Peter, I have just experienced the same issue with my 2016 RAV4. Failed CVT transmission at 120,000klm and facing a large bill outside of warranty. Same symptoms as described above in the original post - whirring  noise on increased speed. Did you have any outcome on your transmission? Same thoughts as you - I have researched but have not found anything online until this thread. Really hoping others with the same issue see this and have the same issue.
