  1. I changed my plugs too yesterday, to take advantage of the good weather in Melbourne. Took me just over 2 hours to complete the job and put everything back together.

The hardest one to get to is the rear bank plug closest to the air filter; took me over an hour to do it.

I have found that un-clipping the bonnet from the struts and open it to the max will give addition room over the engine, as well as much easier access from the side to the rear bank plugs.

I’m just happy that I won’t have to do it again for another 100K kms.

  2. Had a chat with my local dealer service manager, he said they do NOT need to remove the intake manifold to get to the rear bank of plugs. The job should be around 2.5 hours, and was going to cost around $270.

I'm not calling the service manager a liar but why would it take 2.5 hours if this if they don't need to take it apart?

No idea, that's the figure he gave out. I was trying to see if it would be cheaper to do it myself or get them to do it and I will supply the spark plugs to them.

I think I will have a crack at it this time.

  3. whilst were on the topic of lights and HIDS. I am to believe the Presara has factory HID xenons? Does this mean i have HID lights and if I want to get a blue/white brighter colour i can just change the bulb. AT the moment it looks like a 4300k (i think).

I want to change it to 6000k too, but no idea how to open the headlight housing to access the bulb.

  4. hey, I've done a search on this but can't find anything specific to the presara and I think it will make a difference. Im in WA and am planning on removing the headlights and sending them to Autojoy to have LED angel eyes installed. From what I gather I need to remove the front bumper to get the headlights out. Now the Presara has front sensors aswell as headlight washers built into the bumper. Does anyone know if these are gonna cause me grieve getting the bumper off? Is it possible at all to remove the headlights without completly taking the bumper off?

    Cheers for any advice.

Yes, you can. the process is the same as the rest of Aurions, just be mindful of the wires for the sensor and the washer jet and make sure you have something under the bumper to hold it up and you will be fine.

  5. I would go the ZR6 over the SX6 anyday. The extras are well worth the 1-2K over what the SX6 would cost.

Also, shop around and you will be able to find a bargain. My friend picked up a ZR6 with 58000kms, factory sunroof and satnav for $23k from a dealer in July this year. He got a full year of rego with it too.

The only thing he had replaced is the tyres.

  6. As both banks have a pending code, it may be something they have in common. Quick and easy check is the A/F relay and fuse (there is only one relay and one fuse),

At the moment, it's just detecting bank 2, sensor 1 as the one having issues. I worry that it might be the sensor that's dying, checked on ebay and they are expensiveto get.

The fuel usage on the highway is much higher now, up to 9L/100lm from mid 7Ls.

  7. Hi Guys,

My Aurion has pop up with "Check VSC" message on the dash, and the OBD2 reports few faults with the O2 Sensor

    Trouble Codes

    DTC Description ECU

    P2198 O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 2 Sensor 1 $7E8

    Pending Codes

    DTC Description ECU

    P2198 O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 2 Sensor 1 $7E8

P2241 O2 Sensor Positive Current Control Circuit Low Bank 2 Sensor 1 $7E8

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

By the way do you know if Lexus one (PZQ86-00211) is the same?

Lexus and Toyota GPS DVD's are the same, and will work with either vehicle.

Mmm i remember reading something on this sometime ago and something is telling me that for some reason you can’t use the Lexus one in a Toyota and vice-versa but can’t be 100% positive now :g:

It's working in my Presara, and my friend's RX350.

  9. I would also make sure everything was in working order i.e. log book service and any repairs/mods. An ATX is a fairly basic model so there isn't much to go wrong but it's worthwhile avoiding this sort of mistake -

Thanks,Kombi for reminding me of my mistake. :P

But yes, it's very important to test all the bits to ensure they all worked as expected.

My mistake was not to test everything before buying the car, and the auto wiper was missed until a rainy day came.

Sometimes looking at the log book won't tell you everything as mine had a clean/full service log book too, but to also look, touch and listen to everything to make sure they are working the way should be.

  10. The wind screen is clean, and I had made sure the area where the detector is hasn't got a single mark on it.

During the recent Melbourne rain, I would switch the wiper to auto, and it would work as it should, but would never stop even when the wind screen is bone dry and not a single drop of rain can be seen anywhere on the wind screen.

  11. Hi Guys,

Having just upgraded from a 2002 Corolla Levin to a 2007 Aurion Presara, I'm really enjoying the power and all the toys.

However, there are few small issues, chief amounts which a malfunctioning automatic wiper. It's stuck in the intermittent mode, and won't stop itself. The user manual mention this is the fall back mode when there is problem with the rain drop detection system.

While not a big issue, I would like to know if the cause could be something simple and I can fix it myself.

    Cheers,

I will PM you my email address as well, since I won't be accessing the forum very often while overseas.
