I own a 2003 ACV36 Camry (4cyl) and its has started to give me a few problems.
There is a intermittant starting problem and it is linked to the immobilser system. I have taken it down to my auto elec and when he plugs in the scanner, the following code comes up: B2796 (No communication)
The vehicle runs fine for like 1-2 weeks and then all of a sudden it wont start. If it is left for a few hours or even overnight,it will start straight up.
I thought the key might be the problem but the same symptoms exist when either the sub or master key is used.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has come across this problem or if someone could tell me what i should change first.
The Toyota dealer here cant fix the problem either and they suggest i should replace the ECU and Transponder key amplifier.
Will s/h parts work if i buy the transponder amplifier, ecu and keys as a set?
Also, can anyone tell me where the amplifier is located.
I would really be grateful if someone could help me out here and point me in the right direction.
