I ended up selling my Corolla and the 250... enough to buy a new toy. :-)
But welding the diff wouldn't be such a bad idea!!

Fully sic bro...
I think I'll pass on the LSD though. Pick up my bike tomorrow night.

Seeing as I'm not selling the Commodore now... I don't have to keep it looking respectful...
I'll have a burnout comp with you Ash. :P
So sad that I missed it. I bet your new car will be equally as good... nah - BETTER!

Hey Guys.
It's been way too long.
I'll be out next week on something new.
See you then.

My last car was a 97 commodore sedan. I spent a fair bit of time and money modding it up. The key to doing this successfully in a commodore is to be neat and classy. For starters, get rid of that gearstick and replace it with a nice leather trimmed one - they're readily available and don't look like cheap supercheap crap.
Also every man and his dog knows what your car is, so get rid of the Holden sticker on the window. Considering you say you don't care for badges then this should be a no-brainer for you.
The Ecotec engine is a slug, hates to rev, and in a heavy **** vehicle like the VT/VX series is not going to move quickly. However if you have a bit of cash and want to persist making the commodore quicker, I suggest the following mods.
1) Restore the factory intake and use a high flow air filter, and a cold air intake. All of which are readily available aftermarket.
2) Differential gears. Upgrade to either 3.7s or 3.9s (if you don't mind higher revving on the freeway, go 3.9s) and a well shimmed LSD. This will get the lard ****d commo moving off the mark.
3) Higher ratio roller rockers. I'd suggest the 1.9 ratio as for the money, these have proven effects on power output and are better designed than the factory fare.
This will make the car at least tolerable to drive around town and have a bit of go. Still remember this engine was obsolete when it was first released, so don't go expecting much. Finally if you have a enough money and STILL wish to stick with it, supercharge it using any of the readily available ecotec kits or if you want to go custom, turbo it. The standard ecotec engine has been proven to reliably withstand up to 250kw (at the engine, not wheels). Combined with the right diff gears, you'll then have it moving well.
But in all reality, don't kid yourself about trying to make the v6 fast and just buy a v8.
Also don't feed the trolls
Most useful reply ever. Atleast someone has the maturity higher than a 5 year olds.
Everything you said is true. Having more power doesn't mean having a faster car.
Rowan: I agree with you man! Ha ha. Some cars look better without the spoiler.
Toyo Assassin: Perhaps change the title of this thread, and you'll stop getting flamed...

Hmm... what to say...
For starters, in my honest opinion, I don't like the look of your Commodore.
You might not like the look of my Commodore. It's personal taste, whatever.
Look at my ride list in my signature.
I've owned SX Corollas, a 2ZZ Corolla, and I also drive an SV6 Commodore.
I never had any problem with my Sportivo at all.
Was easily the best car I owned. Wasn't a fast car, but is definately a fun car.
141kw with the Sportivo, compared with my 190kw Commodore...
I'd say they are pretty on par with each other.
Commodore feels slower because it is bigger and heavier.
My Commodore is still a great car, don't have any problems with it.
But, people can't really go on comparing a 6cylinder Family Car, with a 4cylinder Corolla.
2 completely different things. Lets not even start the whole RWD vs FWD debate.
You buy a car, and modify it to your liking, and preferences.
This is why some people here have turbo 4's, and some people have 6L V8's.
Anyway, so I noticed that this post is pretty much pointless.
You will get flamed for having a Commodore and being on a Toyota site.
Your Commodore is not the best car ever. But you are your own person, and can do whatever you like.
As for Evans comment earlier about going up Nebo.... I think I'd keep up fairly well.
Most the time it comes down to driver.
-
When I had my Sportivo... oh wait, nevermind.
It redlines at 8,200rpm. I used the WHOLE rev range as much as possible.
None of this changing at 3,000rpm.
-
Welcome.
You should start a "Members Ride" thread and put some photos up.
Also do a search and you'll find everything you need to know about modifications.
If I was as smart as DJKOR, I'd put the link up here for you... but...
Good luck.

I had no problems at all with my CES Cold Air Intake on my 2003 Corolla Sportivo.
Made an excellent sound.
I had CES install it themselves, along with their Cat-back Exhaust and Headers.
-
Picking the block/head up from the machinist this afternoon... So I will start building the motor tonight
Take a heap of photos, mofo. Werd.
-
Just wait the extra time, and save your money.
Get the CES CAI when you can afford it, and you'll be pleased to say the least.
-
Go and get the Cold Air Intake from CES.
-
Looks a bit gay man...
Nah kidding! Looks sweet. Can't wait to see them on the car.
Yeah this challenge will be sweet.
1ZZ Rolla vs Celica vs Colt vs... TRD.
I like the sound of that. Lets chuck in my Commo. Lol.
