  1. Well its kinda hard to tell, it depends on what sort of driving you do? What sort of load you carry? and What size are the tyres?

Do give you an indication though.... My Lux is the 22R, i am running 31" tyres... I drive from my place to school and back every day and usually around at the weekends. I probably do about 250k's a week... I fill up once every 2 weeks. Usually about halfway through the second week. So its not as thirsty as i thought it would be.

    Nrma quotes:

    Fuel Consumption

Best recorded during testing 8.8 L

Worst recorded during testing 10.2 L

    Average on test 9.3 L

    Source: http://www.mynrma.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/mynr..._car_review.htm

So, 10km/L would be reasonable for soft city driving.

I have a standard vanilla vehicle and drive like a camera is watching me constantly.

    31" tyres??

  2. Hi,

I am asking advise and if anyone has tried this changeover.

I have a typical Hilux instrument trilogy. ie: Temp, Speedo, Fuel

Mine is an electronic speedo (no cable).

The Hilux Surf (petrol model) has a Tacho in the instrument cluster.

Can I do a simple swap?

    or

Is the any special wiring required to activate the Tacho?

Surely someone has done this changeover.

I have asked wreckers and others and no banana.

    Thanks

    P.S.

I have found this link to be useful

"Any more questions, feel free to ask.."

Hi, I am thinking about trying to change my archaic speedo (petrol, electronic type) and replacing this with a Surf instrument panel which has a Tacho embedded in it.

Do you know if this is possible and is their any special wiring to be done to activate the Tacho?

    Thanks

  4. Greetings,

I have noticed that Toyota Surf have a Tachometer in their instrument cluster.

Does anyone know if I am able to put one of these into my Hilux Dual Cab (electronic speedo type).

Is their any special wiring needed?

    Advise before disaster is appreciated.

    Thanks

  5. Hi all,

I have a 1997 Dual cab with flat panel door trims (quite boring) and have noticed that the 1998-2000 model hilux have trim

with side pockets for maps etc. More of a moulded shape.

Does anyone know if I can do a changeover from my trim type to the 98-2000 model trim?

    Thanks

  6. Mate, you came to the right place. I did it to my 1990 Model Hilux.

Here is a full walk through, from taking the dash apart to installing the Headunit... http://www.showmesome.info/hilux/workshop/stereo.htm

And here is the wiring harness diagram... http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Toyota-Wiring.pdf

    Have a good one!!

Thankyou for that help and info.

I am wondering also, after seeing that Surf makeover, whether I can fit a Toyota Double-Din player neatly into the cavity which currently holds the single DIN player and tray? In the above UK link, the Surf centre console has been masticated; something that I do not aim to achieve.

Advise is appreciated before any impending debacle.

  7. Greetings,

I am a newbie, be kind!!

I have a typical drivers side bucket seat (torn, worn and sagging) in a 1997 Dual cab 2 WD.

I would like to know what other Toyota front bucket seats will fit into this machine.

( I do NOT have a 3/4 bench seat) , both front seats are bucket.

    Please advise.

    Thankyou
