  2. hey sorry but i dont mean to high jack this thread but atm im also looking for belt sizes, althought mines a 1zz, im upgrading the water pump to the 2zz wp with pulley and alternator pulley, also pulling out the ac. question is would pulling the ac out have a dramatic change on belt length? im seeing my mechanic tomorrow about it so hope fully he may shed some light on belt lengths.

  3. hi everyone,

so for the last few days my 1zz hasnt been running properly, its hard to describe but when im slowly accelerating in low revs the car seems to judder almost like its surging in small short bursts, also spitting and back firing quite alot, its also worst under load..this dosent happen if my foot is flat to the floor thou, ive cleaned my maf sensor and changed the plugs but that doesnt appear to help the situation, ive also had my autolec check it out but he says that all the ignition and fuel delivery seem to be working properly.atm im waiting for my pfc data logit box so i can record wats going on but im not sure it has anything to do with tuning as this is the first time its happened, am i looking at a mechanical problem??

any ideas at all would be muchly appreciated.

  4. Hey got a 02 Corolla 1.8 manual thinking of installing a short ram cold air intake and just woundering if anyone has done this to the same or a similar model and if its worth it thanks.

is you search around this site youll find a heap of amazing info i know i did when i first joined, plus theres a whole thread of info on cai

  5. The wiring diagrams were wrong for the manual 1zz here, they must have included an overseas market in our workshop manual by mistake. The Auto 1zz wiring diagram is pretty close to correct for the manual.

ok cool dont happen to have a pinout of the auto 1zz by any chance do you SD, or even tell me where the fan trigger needs to repined to ?

    cheers for all the help

  6. The PowerFC will only flash the check engine light during the following situations; maxed out injectors (0.5s), maxed out MAFS (highly unlikely), exceeding the knock threshold you set (0.1s). The interval tells you which situation is occuring.

cheers dave might get it dyno tuned and sort out the knock threshold..

also while im here wats the normal water temp for a 1zz im not to sure if my thermo fan is kicking in, how can i check this??

is 7200rpm safe for a 1zz with stock internals ??

  7. hey guys so ive finally given my 1zz with a pcf a good run and when the revs get up with a quick gear change manily 2 to 3 the engine light flickers on and off for a bit then goes away. could it be a dirty maf ?? or is it something more serious. redline has been set to 6700 could this also be why ??

    cheers in advance

  8. As far as reliability goes you'll have to look into lightweight cranks on other engines as MWR have only just released them for the ZZ engines.

I'd say the knife edging is someone's attempt at aerodynamics that has just carried through the years. Shame they didn't do fluid mechanics to know that a rain drop shape creates less drag (might be hard to balance though).

cheers for the wisdom superdave not to sure i want to go down that path just yet if its going to be a hassel in balancing the engine
