  1. -- Sorry I have post it in the outer forum wrongly, can anyone help to remove that one?

    Hi,

Just in case someone know, What/When is the major maintenance for Kluger? 50000 KM? or 60000KM?

    Thanks first.

you are 50% right, :). because the $150 only apply within three years, which means got to reach 60K within 3 years.

The reason I ask is I am considering to take novated lease, so if within three years I could reach up the mileages, it means another little saving coming from the lease.

  2. 3) the car come with dark color window, but the dealer told me they don't know how much UV protection it come with, and they don't know how to find the info.

If they made a simple call to the technical people at head office would have told them this..... but, it wouldn't have made them $$ telling you this information as I said, they can't make their money selling your "clear" tint. Like wearing clothes made of invisible cotton and people would pay for it...

Many thanks, then no point to do any tinting, it saved me $$$

BTW,how do you got such detail information?

  3. I am generally very happy with my new KXR except a few minor issues:

    1) the fabric patten of the seats looks bit.... I don't want to use "cheap", but it is a bit loose. Although it is really comfortable, it could looks better if Toyota put a little more effort.

    2) the KXR instrument panel is too plastic, again a little more design will make a difference.

    3) the car come with dark color window, but the dealer told me they don't know how much UV protection it come with, and they don't know how to find the info.

  4. Hi, Im making investigations now. Im 90% sure the roof rails will bolt straight on. If you look on the roof of the KXR, you see the black channel strips, with 4 tabs that can be lifted up. These four tabs have a bolted bracket underneath. The tabs are in the exact position of where the roof rails go in other models.

Added to that, check out the base model Highlander on the New Zealand Toyota website, its a KXR with roof rails. (note the 17" rims, abscence of fog lights etc) http://www.toyota.co.nz/NewVehicles/Models.../Auto/Overview/

I have two leads on where to buy the rails currently; Toyota of Dallas are renowned for being price competitive with Toyota auto parts. The rails are $281 USD each. The catch currently is that shipping to Australia is $400

Another option is an OEM rail. This ebay seller is already doing roof rails for Prado's, Rav 4s and more; http://stores.ebay.com.au/newGENERATIONimports

Ive spoken to the guy and he tells that 08 Kluger roof rails should be coming in around 5 weeks from now. Perhaps you can contact him too and register your interest. It might motivate him to get them in sooner. :)

I have the Toyota workshop manuals on how to install and remove the rails, PM me if you like a copy of them.

    Cheers,

    Scott.

Thanks Scott, will talk to ebay seller as well.

  5. Our Kluger colour is called Olive Mica Metallic. It doesnt look very metallic. But after reading up on this, Mica isnt like your typical metallic. Metallic is usually bright silvery flakes in the paint that really show up in the sun.

Mica is actually a natural pigment found in stone; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mica

So I would say; yes it is metallic. But not your usual type of metallic if that makes sense.

thanks, that make lots of sense.

  6. it is "optional" meaning they will charge you more. You cannot get the same colour without this "option", or a non-mica metallic red .... if you are worry about they forgot the "option" in your car. If they really did <_<, your car will worth heaps more since it will be one of a kind

  7. This is part of email I received from Toyota Australia when queried about the parking sensor manual which was not supplied to me. In my email to Toyota I attached two pages of the manual kindly posted earlier by a member of this group

I believe the pages you have received come from some sort of installation manual which is only used by Toyota dealers as they install the parking sensors. As previously stated, we are happy to help with any specific questions relating to the system installed, but there is not an Owner's Manual as such available to the public. Reading the documents you sent, they do give a fairly detailed run-down of the operation of the sensors. Please also bear in mind the sensors are there to assist in parking, and do not take the place of commonsense and the usual caution that should be exercised whilst operating a vehicle.

It is not crucial for me to have the manual but it would have been nice to have a complete set of manuals for the car

I got a few pages manual when pickup the car, the front sensor is quite useful.

  8. Just got my new 2008 kluger kxr 2WD three days ago, very happy with its powerful and smooth V6 engine and comfortable drive.

However, the merlot red color doesn't look like what i expected.

the dealer don't have a red demo car to show us when I went for test drive, instead he show me another car and said it is very simlar color. But when i look at my new car, the red is bit darker(that it does't looks like metalic paint), i asked dearler, he said it is "mica metallic" and it doesn't have the metal flakes which make it shining.

Anyone has similar exprience on the paint color? could it possilbe that the car is actaully paint in non-metallic painting and the dealer doesn't knew it?

I have a AWD Grande in Merlot Red, if you saw the red on a RAV4 it is lighter and has a more metallic appearance. However I am very happy with mine.

    Thanks.

Haven't really look at my new car under sun, it is claudy these days. :).

I assume that all kluger will use metallic paint althought it is claimed that metallic paint is optional, is that correct?
