  5. Click on the following

    New Intake Manifold

No I am not adverstising, but I have been following it a little bit. The N/A crowd has been abit limited with bolt-ons for the 2zzge, Boosted over at NC has created a new intake manifold for the 2zzge the gains look very promising at the top end, especially 4300rpm onwards. So if we take into account that US dynos read high, we can expect around 10kw atw I suppose, if 23hp = 16kw. Looks good, will have to wait for independent dynos. Only problem is that you will need possibly a larger fuel pump and injectors, and please lets not turn this into a FI vs N/A debate!

So whos keen on a USD1000 intake manifold?? Xoom?? Its another few more kw's up top, sure you could wind your boost up, but I'm sure another 20kw from the intake manifold would be nice.

Cheers Suprathai for the info.... Looks good.... Thanks for sharing mate

  6. I'm going to be doing some work on my car soon and this is another aspect I wanted to cover before I start.

    Cheers again

how about u elaborate on "what work" you are getting done so as to best advise you ...... because simply changing 6th gear all it will do is drop the revs .....

also since ur cracking her open and getting "work" done .... are u sure u want to keep it a single spinner ?

what sort of power levels are u aiming for ? are we talking high reving n/a monster or are we talking f/i ?

unless you give people a complete picture any advice you are given will only be as good as the input provided .... in other words .... garbage in garbage out .....

y am i asking all these questions ? bcuz ive done it .... ripped the 2zz down to bare and built from the ground up again .... and 1 piece of advice i can give u is before u even spend a single $ know exactly where u r going otherwise this is going to be a painful lesson in learning about a thing called planning and research.

oh and for the figures .... putting the celica 6th in will drop ur revs by about 400-500 rpms @ 120km/h so rather than sitting on 4K rpms in 6th @ 120 you will be sitting at about 3500-3600.

    Bill

Cheers ZOOM .... I' m looking to make 200KW to 220KW @ the wheels. If possible. Not a big ask I don't think. But I want most of all is to do it so that its tough, strong and super reliable. And I want to make the gearobx to match. And yes I'm awear cost leads to quality. As in low cost ...low results.

I do a fair few long motor way drives... Thats why I wanted to see about dropping the revs a little. I was looking at from 2200 to 2500 rpm @100km/h. Is that out of the question? I drive to Victoria and QLD every year. Not yet in my sportivo but wanted to make sweet when I do later this year. Not that I have a problem with it now. I have decided to keep the sportivo for a while so I'm looking to make it custom to my wants.

You know your stuff Xoom. Maybe if it's cool I can ask you a few things here and there. Maybe spare me five minutes at the meet?

    Cheers

  7. Do you plan on over revving or going over 9000rpm often?

If the answer is no to either, or both, than the stock oil pump is fine. Other option is Circuitworx pump gears.

Cheers again Superdave on the info. Just asking so when I get all the work done I can go ahead and get the parts. Looking to uprate a few things after I work the motor. I will be sure to REV it hard after it gets tweeked.

    Cheers

  8. I don't have part numbers for 6th gears, but based on 5th gears it'll probably be around the $600 mark from Toyota. You'd want to do a lot of driving to recoup those costs from the minute fuel saving.

Cheers for the info Superdave. So I can get the part just from Toyota? Thats sweet if thats the case. How much will it drop the revs in final gear for me? So to say?

Not really looking to save fuel. I'm going to be doing some work on my car soon and this is another aspect I wanted to cover before I start.

    Cheers again

  9. Hello ... I have a question about aftermarket oil pump.

TOGA HV Oil Pumps..... ?? have anyone used these or know anyone who has used these?

Will a high volume oil pump screw our 2ZZ up ?

I have read many things about the 2ZZ motor... I read once that the weakness to the 2ZZ is the oil pump at times.

I just wanted to know will a HV oil pump screw my motor up?? Could upgrading my oil pump to a HV pump be the start of the death of my engine??

any experts out there know about this change?

    Cheers

  10. I'm sure it can be done, IIRC the celica 6 speed gear box runs a taller 6th gear then the sportivos (i.e. at the same speed, its revs are lower @ 6th gear) . I wouldn't mind doing that as well, its going to be expensive though cause your basically taking the whole gearbox apart.

Cheers mate.... Yeah I have thought about since I went for a mega long drive the second weekend I bought the car. So the taller the gear the lower revs for speed so to say.

I'm going to do some engine work down the track... so when I do that I will do this as well. That is if such a thing can be done.

  11. Hello All........ Just a quick question..

GEARBOX... I know our Sportivo's are a close ratio gearbox...YES... O.K I wanted to ask about final gear 6th... Can it be changed or worked so when on a long run.....motorway.... the revs keep down a little??

Maybe there is a factory that does this kind of work...maybe not....

I know stupid question.. Just asking.... "" please let me keep my ringhole complete... don't rip me a new one ""

    Cheers

  12. I was looking at some momo's. Well that kind of style anyway. Painted red or black brakes under them.....sweet....... I think that would look good.... I have been wrong before.... Dont hold me to it. Can't go wrong with Lenso's .....

  13. Do you want me to put a few sites here I have found??? maybe you's have seen them already..

Some know who make the kits while others don't. post them up anyway.

Trial = JDMpriced, but is meant to be a true 2L. Not really worth the money for 0.06L

    MWR = 1.94L

Brashboy is a MWR kit. Might have been a Trial kit but doubt it as it would lower their profit margins.

If you install Piper cams with the kit then you can up the compression ratio to make up for the loss in dynamic compression ratio. 12.3:1 gets the dynamic compression ratio with the Pipers to about where the stock engine is. It isn't recommended to rev the stroker kits much above 8000rpm as not enough people have done it, or shared the information.

    Superdave...G-Day....

Yeah I have seen the kits on MWR ....I like the options that you can pick to suit. I have also seen a few things from the USA like a super strong oil pump. Just for the 2ZZ.

I have a few things in mind for the future ....but ever so interested.

Anyone know here in Australia that can do kits like this or make the 2zz a strong low compression for turbo??

  14. Hey........... Fuel..... I did not know that would really matter..... I do now though. I guess the only fuel I can use is at the pump like we all use. I don't know about race fuel mixes.

Thats a shame to learn ..... live and learn hey.....

mmmmmmm maybe a low compression+ turbo or supercharger would be the best bet.

I will look into this further......

cheers for the heads up guys

  15. Hello....

I have in mind a future tweek for my Sportivo. I read all the topics here and thank you all again for your input and views on here.

    I was thinking of making the 2ZZ a 2.0L

I have seen a few web sites offering stroker kits for the 2ZZ-GE.... to make it a worked 2.0L "worked" as in uprated pistons ect ect ect.....

I wanted to ask a few questions... sorry in advance I'm a bit of novice when it comes to motors...

The stroker kits come with many options.... as in the guts of the motor.....what I want to know is compression rates

    the offer is .....

    09.0:1

    10.5:1

    11.5:1

    12.3:1

    13.1:1

    13.7:1

I know to turbo a motor.... compression should be low....

What would the high compression offer as in power output??

Anyone know what the figures could be for these ratio's ?

What is a good ratio for a to be turbo motor...as in able to handle mod to high boost?

Do you want me to put a few sites here I have found??? maybe you's have seen them already..

    Cheers

  16. Hey to all..... Spark plugs for my Sportivo.... Can't seem to find them in any shops where I live...... Anyone have any luck?? I wanted to try NGK but can not find them. Anyone have any different plugs that go well with the 2ZZ-GE. Apart from the replacement ones in the service book.

I know if I go to Toyota I will get what I have in the motor now.... Thats cool but I wanted to try something different.

    Take it easy everyone

Happy new year to all out there........ back to work tomorrow for me...

    Cheers

  17. Hi to everyone. Few questions.....

I'm going to paint my brakes red. I want to ask what paint is best?........ of course heat proof is a must..... Heat proof engine paint or brake paint "" I have seen some at the shops just for brakes""

I'm a powdercoater but I dont want to take my brakes apart " rebulid" in order to powdercoat them....... Tempted yes.......Maybe in the future I will do this not just now but.

Can someone give me a heads up on what paint is good for a fairly long lasting coat while under use and washing my car ect ect?

    Cheers

SILVERBACK........... Oh before I'm ripped a new "A" hole. I hit search but I didnt really see anything........
