  1. how did you go? what you do? where yo from? maybe i can help? lol

Hey :P im all the way over in perth... well havent done anything... yet... still lookin for an amp... im confused on whether to just split the speaker cables with that device... or get a new head unit... getting a new head unit will be more of a mess around... but maybe worth it... im still doin some study on amps too... i have a 400w 12" sub (800w max) 4 ohm... i have no idea what dual voice coil is... can someone explain it? and what do i need to match up to buy an amp... the impedance or the wattage? or both... and is the whole dual voice coil shiznit important... ???

  2. I really doubt your stock head unit would have rca plugs but you could always flip through your owners manual and see if there's any info on it.

Better yet just ring a Toyota service department and ask em.

yer head unit didnt say anything about rca plugs either... so yep, think im gonna have to start saving up for a head unit :) thanks!!

  3. hey mate i just went through putting a sub in myself into my rolla :P

ive been told (this is most likely incorrect but someone can correct me) that stock toyota HU rarely have rca cables (the rca carry the signal for the sub from the HU to the amp in your case) and even then it's best to put in an aftermarket HU. A few more things to note are your power cables, grounding cables , speaker cables and dont forget the fuses! Make sure that whatever guage cable you get for the power to run from the battery to the amp has an inline fuse as close to the battery as doable so in the event it blows you dont have a live current running through your car. Also the grounding cable (attach to the metal body of the car) should be of the same guage as the power cable or interesting things happen :spiteful: , it's also a good idea that you dont just bolt the grounding cable to the next bolt but actually drill a new hole and scratch the buggery out of the paint for a good contact :)

What sort of amp, sub and sub enclosure you got mate? :)

    Goodluck

Hey cheers heaps for that ay... very much appreciated... might have to invest on a decent head unit aswell... at the moment ive got a boxed 12" pioneer... buying the amp probably within a couple of weeks after ive done a bit of study on it :) only thing about getting a head unit is that i wont be able to use the stearing wheel controls on it... "sniff"... but im sure ill live... and im pretty sure with some head units you can wire them up to work with the steering controls anyways yeh? Thanks heaps for your reply ay much appreciated!!! and yer if i get it all wired up i definately wont do it myself, wouldnt trust myself at all... :P thanks again!!

  4. Hey people...

I have a 2004 camry sportivo and want to add a subwoofer to my stereo, i have the amp, and i have the sub... but when i went into alberts they asked me all these questions about the back of my head unit... like does it have rca out-puts and other questions that i kinda had no idea of... does anyone know if the stock head unit is capable of attaching an amp and sub to it, and if so is there anything i need to know before i go to someone and get it installed??

    Thanks Heaps!!
