  1. Sorry for bringing old thread up.

I just want to ask Aborchy and l10n_k1ng that where do you mount the ballast for the left head light? I can't find a suitable place to mount it. A picture would be great.

My car is 2007 Camry Sportivo by the way.

    Thanks,

    Lang

Sorry for the very late reply here....have been OS.

Anyway I attached the ballast next to the fuse box on the passenger side and next to the ABS mad on the drivers side. Both secured with cable ties so no drilling required.

    Hope this helps.

  2. Mate, I can say the 2007 Grande is a really nice car. After having Commodores for many years we finally left the world of the 6 for a 4 in our family car. The Grande has comfort, good looks, good economy and you do get used to the change in power but it has some poke when needed.

We bought factory runout ex demo. Saved lots doing it this way.

    Good luck.

  3. I will try and take some pis for you. The retaining clip is was attached to the original light socket. i just lifted it off with needle nose pliers and then threaded the new HID wiring (2 wires) through the hole in the middle then inserted the whole thing into the projector. The retaining clip locks everything in just as it would with any other H7.

Still really wrapped at how much difference this makes........they should be standard on all cars. Thinking of upgrading the lights on my motorbike now. :)

  4. For anyone wondering if they should upgrade their normal stock headlights to HID JUST DO IT!!! I purchased a 10000K kit with balasts and globes from ebay for $32 AUD for the H7 Low beam. They went straight in with the exception of removing the metal retaining clip from the existing socket and attaching it to the new globes. HOLY C%&P!!! the difference is huge. The road just lights up and you can see everything.....awesome!!

I dont think I will bother with HID for the high beams as i do mostly suburban driving but have ordered another kit for the H11 Spots matching LED wedges for the parkers.

I also replaced the number plate & boot globes with T10 wedge super bright 4000K LED's. The car is black and chrome and with these lights it looks unreal which I am suprised to say about a Camry.

If anyone needs help with the install let me know but whatever you do........just do it the benefits speak for themselves.

    Cheers

  5. have you got a reverse camera in yet? thats a mod kinda, also can you watch dvds? i think you can change something so it can watch dvds,

Yeah have tested with a keyhole camera but did not like it so ordered yet another that attaches to the numberplate but this one shows distance and has a better picture. They sent me a PAL version first so had to send it back for an NTSC. Had the chance to connect it to my TV before I sent it back and the picture is great.

I would like to know more about the DVD mod? I might shut the kids up :)

  6. it so gay to drive that car, drive lexus is 250 much better

Nice! It has always been about value for money for me. Why drive a Lexus and pay for the name when it is a Toyota anyway. Economics and common sense for some my friend......vanity for others apparently?

Have fun in your very expensive Toyota champ.

cheers everyone else. There are poses everywhere

  7. Hey fella's for what it is worth i have a new camry grande and have been searching for the same tye of interface and after many hours searching the web discovered that if you do a search on ebay for toyota ipod or toyota interface a list will appear. They are all pretty much compatible and connect to the cd changer connection on the back of the head unit. This will allow you to control your ipod via the steering wheel as well as the touch screen on the head unit. The best site so far for toyota additions that I have found is http://www.oemvalue.com/installcamry07.htm#iPod scroll to the bottom of the page and follow the other links. This is a really handy site and I have used it for installing a reversing camera etc.

There is also other information for most Toyota head units.

    Good luck

  8. Hey mate,

Yeah just received my camera and connected it all up using an NTSC camera but no picture just lines. I have another camera arriving tomorrow because I thought something like this would happen. This one is PAL/NTSC switch over. Did you get yours to work in the end?? I have connected to pin 22 & 23 for the video as will use the reverse lights for the 12V power. At the moment I am using a spare 12V power supply for testing first. Are you using 21 instead of connecting to ground or does it have some other purpose??

I am running out of ideas so the weekend will be pulling things apart again to check my connections. Any suggestions would be great.

    Cheers

  9. No it doesn't record.

    Hey Mate,

I have a Grande as well and have searched the internet far and wide to find schematics and tweaks for it. I have full service man's for the car as well as some great sites for the headunit etc. I have just fitted a reversing camera which cast $30 whole job. Am about to fit a USB interface so i can play direcly from a 250Gb HD. Head unit sees it as a CD changer. Also found where you can get matching leather DVD headrests for the kids in the back for $400 OZ.

Drop me an email if you want any details.

  10. hey,

my mate hasa genuwine toyota camera for sale, the only bad thing is its a lot of work. youd need to have a screen for obviously reasons, connect the wires from headunit to device, hide the cables under the car floor, and drill a hole in your boot (where the light bulb is located for the number plate). thats all i know :P

Cheers mate. I will give it a go anyway......the Grande has the cool nav sys screen which has the video input so should just be a matter of finding a good camera and plugging it in....I hope :)

  11. Last week I purchase a camera and cable to install in my Toyota Aurion ZR6 with navigation unit.

(This will not work without this unit for those who might want to do this mod.)

Anyway here some photo's of the installation.

Very cheap mod, taken me 2 hours to install, if you have basic mechanic and soldering skill you can do this.

Ok found the pinouts instructions in previous posts.

Do you have any instructions/suggestions on how to get to the back of the head unit? Cheers

  12. Has anyone put a reversing camera into thier grande? I have read lots of stuff about it from the states but little here in OZ. If someone has I would be interested in knowing which camera and what connectings need to be made. I would also like to know the tricks to getting to the back of the head unit. Any instructions would be great.

    cheers
