Hi all,

Just signed up, first time posting tonight as im a bit bored and this forum seems good for info..

Enough of that onto the car I have recently got my cressida on the road after 16 months of getting the engine replaced in it (BHG) i know it probably took more than usual but it was me and my boss doing the work on afternoons/ nights/ weekends

The above photo's of it are when it was still in the process of being finished off. Once it was all road legal, I had the pleasure of enjoying just how good a car this really is, all of the long nights and mass amounts of cursing really did pay off.

this is the day i drove it home....

The ride sits high and yes it needs some bigger wheels, but its an excellent granny car and rides well and it has a bit of punch for the donk thats in it lol.

All in all excellent car...future mods are extensive but heres just a couple

*Lowering

*19'' rims

*Bigger exhaust

*Stainless Cooler piping

*re spray

* custom front bar

EDIT: heres some pics of the engine bay

I should shed some more light upon what under the bonnet and no its not a 7MGE….heres the list of mods (although not that many). Heres the list so far

*2JZ-GTE

*Custom air box to suit engine

*custom aircon lines to retain aircon

*power steering lines brakes lines and brake booster have been customised/ shifted to suit engine

*JZX81 Engine mounts

*S2 crossmember

* FMIC

*Custom piping to suit

*Shortened tailshaft

*Manualised auto (gear shift is setup on a dial in centre consol)

*Gearbox modified to suit

*reconditioned gearbox

*Direct re wire from gearbox straight to dial shift for quicker shift response

*R33 Skyline brakes

*BA Falcon Discs

*Upgraded brake lines

*EL falcon thermo fans on auto temp switch

That’s all I can think of for the time being, a lot of time was spent re diverting lines, trial fitting things, waiting on people to get new items for me etc etc etc. When we did this conversion we seriously didn’t do any research…we just wanted a 2jz in a Cressida so we did it…..

Through the road of doing things as we went we discovered the engine mount issue and also thanks to Gary (a member of toymods) we then discovered we needed the series 2 crossmember, once we had the engine sitting in there we then upgraded the brakes and much to our delight found a good upgrade that bolted straight in.

After a lot of time we got to the wiring stage of things, this is when we hit rock bottom….after hours and hours and hours of work from our auto electrician (and good friend) he informed us that we will never get full auto transmission because of the lack of ABS on the Cressida, we were stuck for weeks without second gear and it just wasn’t looking good.

So after weeks passed and after myself spending hours and hours researching of a possibility, our sparky came up with an idea…breakdown the 2jz gearbox and run individual wires from each gear straight up to a manualised shifting switch which over rides the ECU…so that’s what he did and it worked a treat.

Once the gearbox and the car was wired up we got the exhaust hooked up (stock Cressida exhaust) and we shipped it off the get mod plated and rego’d….everything passed fine and its now happily in my shed haha.

told you it had a different touch to it ;)

Will post some pics of the engine and other pics later on :)
