Hi guys,

first post and excited to get my Grande hopefully this Friday. I realized that the Grande does not come standard with an iPod connection. Would anyone recommend to get the iPod kit installed or are there other better options?

Anyone using the iPod kit from Toyota?

Thx.

Jamie

P.S. I ordered the rubber boot liner. Not that I have dogs ...

That's great to know. I've been very disappointed about the lack of iPod support for the Grande.

How did you install the iPod interface ? Did you do it yourself and where do you keep the cable for the iPod ?

Finally, any tips on how to get a good deal ? I remember paying ~$120 for my Honda iPod kit a few years ago and this costs twice as much.

Thanks mate :)

Got installed by the dealer before the car was delivered... but that was because of warranty reasons: the install is straightaway if you know how to get to the back of your main unit.

Tha cable and iPod are in the glove box - no drilling required. The cable is long enough for me to access iPod if I put the system into that mode that allows me to control iPod directly (not from the main unit) - but I never do that.

No real tips on the deal, sorry.

How much was the dealer installed option?

Had a similar system installed on a BMW about a year ago. Works well and has full ipod control through the factory touch screen. Just leave and forget the ipod in glove box all the time and it charges the ipod when the car is on.

Usually between $500 - $650

I might try this myself if I can figure out how to access the back of the stereo. Last time, I used the Honda USA spec device.

Here are the DIY instructions for a Honda Pilot. It should be very similar for a Kluger.

Not sure if it is in CroToy's manual, but if your SoundLinQ model is the same as mine, you'd have to program it by playing with switches on it, starting/stopping the car, etc. So be sure to do that before assembling all the panels and glovebox cover back.

That's just what I needed !

Thanks a lot, I'll take some pictures when I do it and post them back here.
