diy on changing headers for preface zze?

Recommended Posts

I've done it on the Celica, which is pretty much the same process.

  • Jack car up and remove all under panels.
  • Remove mid section of exhaust and heat shields leading up the fire wall.
  • Remove bracket tying the manifold to the engine (50Nm), remove heat shields on the manifold. There are 8 bolts in total from memory, the underside ones are a maze to get to so you need a lot of extensions and a multi angle adapter.
  • On the Celica it's physically impossible to remove the manifold without dropping the subframe and removing the rear engine mount, I'm told it's different on the Corolla.
  • Undo bolts securing the manifold to the head.
  • Do the reverse of the above to install.

Put the car on jack stands and chock the wheels as well. Some of the bolts will be pretty tight to remove!! alos have a packet of band aids on call as the edges of the heat shields and the plastic clips that hold all the barke lines and wiring are damm sharp...
