hey guys i am a first year mechanic working for Lexus.

i have just been given a Toyota Camry 1988 v6 import.

with some alot of rust. i really like this car and would like to repair the holes myself cheap.

but i need some ideas on how to go about fixing it the holes are in very awkward places in the boot area

and are letting alot of water into my boot.

if you guys have any suggestions on how i could fix this easily with out costing to much and i dont care if it doesn't look pretty.

it just needs to not leak water into my boot which will cause further rust...

any info comments anything would be greatly appreciated thanks TOM

cut out all of the rust and fiberclass the holes

Pretty much what mick said, make sure you cut out all the rusy so it doesnt spread. Dpending what your more comfortable with fiberglass or metal welding both are options. If you wanted to go realy cheap, which i wouldnt recomend you could get a sheet of plastic and heat it up slightly whilst holding it over the whole so that it takes shape. Then go silicone crazy but it wont pass its next rego so not really worth it.

As others have mentioned cut the rust out. I would use an air saw then mig in some metal and grind back use a heavy magnet or clamps to hold the patch metal in place. I snapped the boot strut ball joint of on an AU Fairmont I once had and mig welded in a new ball joint same type of principal
