Hi. I am soon to buy a Camry wagon, after 6 happy years in a Celica. I primarily want the wagon so's I can sleep in the back of it on a long trip, or even a day trip. After first looking at and driving some '93-'96 wide body wagons - my first choice - I'm getting interested in the '97-'02 model as well.

The earlier wide body wagon seems slightly longer and therefore more comfortable to stretch out in, but that may not be so.

Can anyone tell me for sure whether the full cargo space, with the rear seats down, is longer in the wide body model than in the later sleeker verson?

TIA

Mike

Hey Mike, I'm a Mike too :D

My previous car is a 2000 Camry Wagon, given it to my little brother to learn in.

So I just ran outside and measured the length of the space with the seats down;

The length from the rear of the head rest of the seats to the rear of the car is 167cm (When the rear seats are down of course). The Width in boot is at a maximum of 138cm, but is 98cm in width from the tyre to tyre bit.

I haven't got the slightest idea about the newer models. So I don't know if they have a larger space with the seats down.

Hope it helps :)

If it is only you sleeping in the wagon then moving the passenger seat forward or removing it entirely and putting a box there to extend the sleeping area should work

If you get a girlfriend to share with you, make sure she is short !
