Kluger Service twice a year?

Hello,

Guys i would like to know if i or anyone need to service their brand new car every 6 months????Do i relly need to service a new car twice a year and spend $340??? (capped at $170). I am sure its obvious that i am not a mechanic but its just a question to improve my knowledge....My previous brand new car did about 45000kms in just under 5 years, thats very less kms and i serviced the car (mazda) once every year (private mechanic)and the car till date is in great condition . Ofcourse during the year i always topped up the oil etc..I do realise that every user is different, my mate drives 50000-60000kms in a year and serviceing his car twice a year is a must i guess...I would be lucky to drive 4000-5000kms in six months, i dont beleive my car need a $170 service after such low kms....Toyota says we need to service the car every six months or 10000kms whichever is earlier....

Any suggestions??

cheers

I service my Kluger with Toyota every 10,000km (less than 6 months). I would consider that the absolute minimum for servicing. Personally I also change the oil and filter after 5,000km in between services. I have always done that with all my cars.

I am doing 25,000km per year, but if you are doing such low kms you could probably service less regularly. But really if you spend $50,000 on a new car is it such a big deal to spend $340 a year to maintain it?

It all comes down to warranty. If something happens to your car and you cannot prove that it has had the periodic servicing then they will try to get out of fixing it under warranty.

Cheers Matty! Honestly paying $340 is not the issue for me but sometimes taking care of 2 young kids and taking a car for servicing can be a challenge. I rather prefer my own machnic who has a mobile business to come to my house and service the car for me. Also i trust the bloke with his work. On the other hand like ash said (above) if i dont take my car for my sheduled service they might not honour the warrenty.

Thanx guys! I really do appreciate your time to respond to my question.
