2005 Kluger Brake issues

hey all

Recently purchased a 2005 Kluger CV and absolutely loving it, 1st big car i've owned compared to my prior little pocket rockets.

Yesterday i was driving home and need to jump on the brakes, and SURPRISE!

The brake peddles operated as normal under heavy braking and then... no resistance and the peddle dropped an inch.

the resistance back in the peddle but the peddle is just above the floor and .... wheels locked up.

Im assuming i've got an issue with the master brake booster, maybe a leak?

Any opinions?

oh. and i spoke to the previous owner and the master brake booster never went back to the dealership for the Toyota Recall.

Hi ray, have you noticed any fluid loss in reservoir,I dont know there could be a leak some wear, have a look under the car to see if theres any brake fluid under the car or around your master cylinder, it could be a issue with brake booster,I didnt know about the recall mate, I not a mechanic so dont quote me on what I said, probadly my only advise would go see a brake specialist or a mechanic as soon as possible I wouldnt muck around with somthing as serious as brakes, its matter of life or death when brakes are conserned.

sorry mate I couldnt be more help, hopefully some on this forum can help you

Hi

I'll check the Brake reserve and under the car to see if i've lost any fluids tonite.

haven't noticed any oil on my driveway since i've had it.

oh the previous owner is a close mate and he owns his own mechanic workshop so it's always been looked after.

booked in the car with Toyota for the rear boot and master break booster thing (Toyota Recall) for next week.

let's see what happens

oh... here is a link for all the Toyota Models which was recalled - might be worth a look just in case you never got their letters

Hi ray, hopefully when you get the recall done the problem will be fixed, its great to hear that your car was owned by a mechanic, so it would be regulary serviced and checked for problems and looked after, thanks also mate for the info on the recalls, It made me think for a moment :o , I hope my car not on that list but it wasnt thank god, but it will help others on this forum.

Mate how did you go fitting those 19 inch wheels?

Hey Croco

yeah the 2011 Kluger 19 inch wheels went on no issues

only minor hicup is that the tyre profile is a tad too big

the rear tyres rubs on the bottom plate of the suspension so... need to get some new tyres running the correct profile.

only thing is that factory is 225/70/16 and if i was to run correct profile, the 19 inch has limited choice... so.. i may have to run 275 width profiles :(

that's gona kill my fuel consumption

maybe i may need to go down to 18 inch rims

any suggestions?

Hi ray, the only thing I can suggest is to maybe put a post in the tyres and wheel section on the toyota ownersclub forum or go and speak to a tyre salesman and see what options you got, the 19 inch wheels has a limited choice when it comes to tyres choices, sorry mate I couldnt be more help, I dont want to lead up the creek without a paddle :nono:
