tragedy has struck 😔... my 07 SX6 suffered a major oil leak this morning.

Got a low oil pressure alert, pulled over. dip stick was bone dry with small amounts of metal flakes on the end.

i'm assuming the leak is caused by either the oil cooler lines or the vvti rubber line deterioration.

Car has been towed to my house.

Whats the best course of action now? fix the leak and do a few oil flushes? or do i need a whole new motor?

Hi Jack. So sorry to hear that mate. If you can see metal flakes on the dipstick then I'd say the engine is toast. The VVTi system is very sensitive to low oil pressure/lack of oil. The metal flakes are most likely bearing material, either from the cams or the crankshaft. Either way you'll need a new engine or to rebuild it.

Did you have the oil cooler line or the VVTi oil line replaced with full metal ones?
