  1. Hey everyone, i am currently in the process of upgrading my car's headlights, because at the moment they are horrible. to start with i was looking at just getting a pair of Hella 181 driving lights. then i started looking at HIDs, i know they give all different colours depending on temperature and the higher the temp the less light that actually gets 'put' on the road. i'm kinda aiming for something that will look good and give me a better light that my current halogens. the car they will be going in if i get them is my 1996 toyota paseo. i was just wondering if anybody could help with what i actually need to get, as in will i need new reflectors, headlight covers and all that because of the much higher temperature they burn at. and also what brand i should be looking at for kits, and whether i should go 35W or 55W and also any opinions on the colour that will look best on my car would be great too. (such as, blue, purple or green). i know thats a lot of questions, i'm just struggling to find some of the information on it and i'm new to the whole HID thing, any help would be great. thanks, Martin
  2. thanks for the help everyone, i've got the day off tomorrow so i'm gonna go buy what i need and get to work. i'll be back with questions if i run into any problems lol. but i cant see that happening.
  3. just another question. can anyone tell me how long they think it will take, or even just how long it took you to wire yours up? thanks, just kinda want a rough estimate so i can figure out what day i can do it on.
  4. thanks for that, i'm thinking i'll go with the 4awg, i wont be upgrading to a huge amp, but i will be going bigger when i get around to it.
  5. thanks for the help. i'll go have a look for the gear tomorrow.
  6. hey, i'm new to the whole car audio system thing and i just have a few questions about wiring up my sub and amp. firstly, i got the sub and amp off a mate, so no cables or anything included. the amp is a pioneer gm-3200t, so thats a 300W max 2 channel. (1 x 150 W (bridged)) the sub is a pioneer ts-w256C 800W max (350W RMS). what guage wire should i be using... 4 or 8, i may upgrade sometime down the track. and will an amp wiring kit have everything i need in it? (i'd say it would, but is there anything extra i may need that i dont know about?) oh and if it helps, my headunit is a: pioneer DEH-3050UB and my car is a 1996 toyota paseo any help or tips would be awesome, thanks. Martin
  7. hey, I recently had a topic asking about what shocks and springs to get for my paseo, I was told KYB Excel G struts mated to king spring "lows", and i've had a look at them and they are probably what i'll buy. I looked further into the parts i need to get and i also need to get bushes, any suggestions on what brand and type. approximate prices if posible would be great too. this is for my everyday car, i'm just after it to be more sporty and handle better. thanks martin
  8. just really general daily driving, i'm just looking for something to make it look a bit better, so maybe lower it somewhere between 1 and 2 inches. probably closer to 1" because i drive almost every day
  9. I did the 160 000km service today and got my dad to take it for a drive and check its over (he is a mechanic). he thinks i need new suspension, so i'm thinking i'm gonna lower it while i'm at it, save me doing it later. i'm not sure what i should be getting, i know i need struts and spring. but any suggestions as to what brands and such? any help would be great. thanks martin
  10. thanks for the replies random hero and tripper. i looked at the panel filters earlier, will they make any slightly noticeable change to the performance like a pod filter would? and yeah the pod filter will be very difficult to fit if i go with it over the panel.
  11. hey everyone. i'm recently purchased a 1996 paseo. my mate gave me a K&N pod filter to put in it, but i'm not sure where to put it. i've attached a picture of the engine, i was thinking of mounting it behind the right headlight but i'm not sure. and also the second attachment, the air temp reader (atleast thats what i think it is..if someone could tell me if i'm right about that, that'd be great.) where would i put that when putting the pod filter in? also will i need to make a heat shield for the filter? any other suggestions/help would be great. thanks marty
