Hi My 200 series Sahara turbo diesel makes a knocking noise when I first drive it when cold. It has done 23,000 km and is burning a similar amount of oil to that reported by others. It occurs for about the first km or 2 and then it goes away. While driving it sounds to me like when a vehicle has noisey tappets however my neighbour heard it as I drove past him and he said it sounded like big end noise. It has done it since new. It makes no difference if I let it idle for 10 to 15 minutes before driving. Otherwise it is good with no other problems other than the driveshaft noise which they rectified. My dealer acknowledges that it is occuring and his comment is that it is common with others and I need not worry! Any thoughts?
