  1. Just an update on my fuel consumption. Having fitted the kiwi mpg monitor a few months ago, (works great by the way) the cruiser is averaging around 17/100, mainly driving short trips into town ect. Sitting on the freeway at 110km returns approx 17/100, sitting at 100km returns approx 15/100 and sitting at 80 returns approx 13/100. Towing a 3t boat bumps the fuel consumption up to around 27/100, not recommended for long distances lol.

Having spoken to the sellers of scangauge and maxitrip, both said their units probably wouldnt work, I decided to give Kiwi MPG a try. Again spoke to the Australian distributers, said it worked on all post 1996 cars! To be honest this is the same info as the other two products, only difference was they said it would deffinatly work. Anyway ordered it on Monday from over east, it arrived today, not bad delivery time. Plugged it in and bingo worked a treat, no issues what so ever. You have to wonder if the other two units use a different obd2 protocol? So there we have it the Landcruiser 100 gxl UZJ100R does have a fully functional obd2 which will work with aftermarket trip computers, well the KIWI MPG.

Ok Iv'e been in touch with the Australian distributers, both say it probaly wont work on pre 2005 cars. Had a look at a different unit : Autel Maxitrip VehicleData Recorder/Computer/DigiGauge Again spoke to the suppliers and they are of the opinion that it will work on all cars post 1996 Only one way to find out, unless someone has tried it on a pre 2005 Cruiser?
  4. How may k's has it done mate? When was it last serviced? Shouldnt be belowing black smoke, think it either needs a dam good service or something is wrong. Try putting in some injection cleaner for starters, might help? Also check you tyre pressures, if they are way out it wont help your economy. Biggest way to save fuel is use your right foot as little as possible, lol. Anyway for comparison, Iv'e got a 2003 V8 petrol auto, normally get around 20 l /100 around town, not very good I know but it is a 4.7l V8 fuel guzzeling monster.
  5. Got a 100 series gxl v8 petrol, suberb wagon, never gone wrong(touch wood), great to drive, good offroad, reliable. Only down side is the fuel consumption, lol.

Thanks for the reply Trent, unless I'm missing something the site says 2005 onwards, mines a 2003 model ? Actually had a reply from scangauge today saying they can only comment on usa cars and I should ask the australian distributers, guess thats what I will do. Cheers
  7. Used to happen all the time on my old Patrol, engaging reverse and backing up a short way used to fix it.

Hi Guys, just wondered if anyone has tried fitting a scangauge trip computer to a 2003 Landcruiser 100 series v8 pertol? Would be cool to see the actuall fuel economy(lol) ect, there site says it dosn't work on most pre 2005 toyota 4x4, operative word being most ! This kind of implies that maybe it will work on some models? Anyway would be a waste of money if it didnt work. ScanGauge So has anyone tried these in a 100 series V8? Cheers
