  1. maybe this is a question out of the topic but just want to ask you guys, how do you dry your car after wash??  I bought a synthetic chamois after reading lots of posts, after wash I just put it onto the car then press lightly, then lift it and squeeze the water out and move to the next section.  But I still find water spots.  Am I doing anything wrong???  or I just need lots of chamois to repeat the step? or pure cotton cloth will do a better job?  Please help... thanks.

oh anyone give me so ideas if those spray on wax products are good?  doing the job as good as those liquid ones?  many thanks.

Pass on the synthetic chamois, get a leather one, lasts for ages, had mine for 4 years, bit tatty now but still does an excellent job and as the others have said let it soak up the water then wring it out start from the top of your car and work down.

The leather Chamois are a bit wierd when new hasa waxy kind of substance which I think is like a wax of some sorts, once that has worn if your pait work comes out sparkling!

  2. Looking at the exhaust it looks like it is welded to the chassis, look at pic 3, there is a bit of metal welded to the exhast which is attached to some black rubber thing?  Any ideas on how to remove the exhaust?

    Cheers!

The mounting hooks are welded/bolted to the chassis.

Put some Olive/Vegetable Oil on the rubbers and they will slide off easy.

The Seca definitely has a flange which can be unbolted.

Will try to scan and email to you today.

    Cheers

    T.

    EXCELLENT, thanks for that!

  3. Problem is, it looks like I will need to take off the exhaust but how?? It looks like it also has a thin metal covering over the exhaust that is attached to the chassis and I think I have to remove that in order for the bolts from the tow bar to be attach to the chassis.  any help would be appreciated

    Correct !

You have to remove the heat shield and drill a clearance hole in it

    (or something like that)

There is a flange near the rear axle which will enable the muffler to be removed (undo 2 nuts/bolts)

I think I still have the instructions which I could fax to you if you like ?

Thanks for your advice, just jacked the car up and had a good look, looks like I have to remove the rear bumper as well to get the bolts through the chassis tubing? looks like a bit of a mission, but will give it a go, thanks for offering to fax, but in NZ, if you have a scanned copy that would be great reece@woosh.co.nz

"You have to remove the heat shield and drill a clearance hole in it

    (or something like that)"

Yeah I think I need to drill a bigger hole in the heat shield for two bolts to fit through. Question, would the tow bar be attached directly to the chassis and then the heat shield to the tow bar? or the other way around?

  5. Cheap Corolla

Hi there, I was just browsing the New Zealand autotrader and noticed that a majority of their cars are like japan spec and wayyy cheaper compared to the local ones..

    I'm jus curious ,

    1) is it easy to impot a car (such as the one in the link above) from NZ here to Brisbane? like cost wise etc, is it worth it or not?

    2) has anyone here imported recently ? just so they could give an idea how the procedure is , like smooth or is it a hassle

    Thanks for the help!  :)

Wouldnt have a clue and probably a bit off topic but NZ has a large used JDM vehicles market, cheap vehicles (but high in quality) access to a wide range of vehicle parts and most models that are'nt sold outside of Japan like the Toyota Verossa. It was the deregulation of the vehicle market which removed vehicle tariffs back in the early nineties and which basically killed any vehicles being built up in New Zealand. Toyota like all other brands were forced to import vehicles fully built up and turn the old plants into refurbishing used JDM's, Toyota places these types of vehicles under their "signature class range" If OZ were to implement such a strategy it could potentially hurt local producers, wouldnt be a good sign for Holden or Mitsubishi etc.
