  1. Hi all, I have a Auspac Gps/dvd unit, my gps will not load, all I get is a sysupdater screen, I have tried reset, disconnecting, formatting Sd card and reinstalling maps but nothing has worked. The dvd, radio and reverse camera all work fine but when I go to nav it goes to the sysupdater screen.

I have been searching for days for any answers but have come up with nothing, I know a lot of u have or did have this unit, so I am hoping someone can help me. the unit is 4 years old and is due for a update but money is tight at the moment and was hoping to get 12 more months out of it.

I have been looking at Hollowmans posts which say that u can update these Chinese systems but I cant find any links to do a system update, I was hoping that might fix the problem.

Any help will b appreciated, I have Att a photo of the screen it gets stuck on.

    Thanks.

  2. for anyone who is interested 20x8.5 fit, just. tyres are 225/35/20 you could go 245 on the rear and still be inside the guard.

insurance are ok with it, all they are concerned about is getting a higher premium. anyway glad that's over with, found it very hard choosing wheels I liked. ended up with advanti's, added a few pics.

  3. Theres a number of threads with Similar questions...

8.5 inch will fit but you may have issue with insurance..

If you get 19 inch you will need 245/35/R19 93Y (From Memory) Im guessing this is the size thats used on the TRD Aurions

No too sure about 20's, but possibly 245/30s

thanks Ronnyboy that matches what the wheel shop dude has said. should i be asking about the offset which is +45 yes?

i was wondering would it be better to stay with 18s and lower the springs, would that handle better and be a smother ride then going bigger?

members personal experiences would be appreciated.

found this sight to be very useful with choosing wheels. http://vrimz.com/

would you be interested in my 17s for your camry

  4. I have no knowledge when it comes to wheels or tyres, so buying has become a headache.

I have spent a long time searching this site but there is so much info im findig it hard getting a simple answer.

what I want are 19s or 20s without mods, I found some nice wheels {race spec RS-X 19x8.5 photo att} but was told 8.5 was to wide is this true? 19x8 will fit but they do not come in that size,

I have also been told tyres need to b 35 series if I get 19s, will this be to low profile and ruin the ride?

what I need to know is what size to ask for with 19s or 20s that will fill the wheel arches nicely and not ruin the ride, for eg will 245/45/19s be OK, or will I need lower profile.

I need to get wheels now as tyres are bold. my ride is a black ZR6.

    thanks for any help.

  5. looks like GPS receiver is stuffed, Rob has sent new antenna but still want work.

now I have to pull unit out again and post it to Melbourne.

I was wondering if anyone else with this unit has had hardware failures and sent it back for service? and was it fixed properly and quickly.

    Thanks for any replies.

If anyone is interested my unit had a faulty Gps receiver, sent it to Rob and he replaced board.

only took a week to get it back and unit is working well.

  6. Hi DKzr6,

Rob sent me update with these instructions, is this what u did to your mates unit?

what he says about stuffing it up has me worried.

I am a bit confused about what to do after update has finished, Rob says remove SD card and finish update, he says I should see a window that says "update OK". I have attached photo of it, do I just click OK on it and that's it or what?

    Thanks for your help.

    from Rob, below

[i am not sure this is the problem but the files are attached.

Uncompress the attached file and copy it into the root directory of a blank SD card.

Insert this SD card into the unit then power on the unit again, the software should automatically update.

If it fails to update automatically, choose"autorun.exe" from "navigation setup" in NAVI mode and return to click "navigation" to start the update.

It is important that there is no power disruption or DO NOT POWER OFF the unit during update, or else the IC will be burnt, and the unit will be bricked.

After the update is finished, it will show the attached picture "update ok".

Then remove the SD card and finish update to see if radio can receive GPS signals now.

    Regards

    Rob]

    Hi,

Once it says OK down the bottom. Press OK at the top corner of the window. This closes the update program. Remove the SD card and restart your satnav software.

If the update does not start automatically, go into the satnav options and setup the update as the file to run when you start your satnav. When you start your satnav the software will run instead. Once finished make sure you change the setting back to your satnav folder so that it will run.

    Daniel.

the update Rob sent me would not work, windows said cant open fw file.

That's why I searched for another update, found the one I posted, everyone on that forum who used it said it worked great, giving there units faster sat tracking etc.

I was wondering whether anyone on this forum has used it.

sorry to here about your car.

  7. I have been looking for a fix for my gps and came across this firmware update, I was wondering if anyone has used it on the auspac unit?

Homeland Secuirty Report of GPS Week 256 Rollover problem [uscg.gov]

NAVCEN GPS ADVISORY REGARDING GPS 256 WEEK ROLLOVER

The USCG NAVCEN has received multiple reports of GPS problems beginning on or about 11-14 June 2009. During this timeframe, two of the counters providing a truncated representation of GPS week in the GPS navigation message reached their maximum value (255) and reset to zero. This is a normal, documented behavior of the GPS signal, but past observations have shown that some GPS receiver sets do not properly process this event. NAVCEN recommends that anyone with a GPS receiver which began experiencing problems during this timeframe consider consultation with the receiver's manufacturer. Background information follows:

GPS time is defined by a week counter as well as a time of week counter. These counts, respectively, started at 0 roughly at midnight UTC, 6 January 1980. The GPS broadcast provides truncated representations of the GPS week count in several different locations of the navigation message, including:

    * Subframe 1 (10 bits): WN: Resets to zero every 1024 weeks and is a truncated representation of the week count corresponding to current GPS time.

    * Page 25 of Subframe 5 (8 bits): WNa: Resets to zero every 256 weeks and is a truncated representation of the GPS week count corresponding to the broadcast GPS almanac's time of applicability. NOTE: The GPS almanac's time of applicability is, based on current MCS software, projected roughly three days into the future relative to current GPS time, and therefore can show an updated week count that is first noticeable on late Thursday or Friday instead of Sunday. (IS-GPS-200D, Section 20.3.3.5.1.5).

    * Page 18 of Subframe 4 (8 bits): WNt: Resets to zero every 256 weeks and is a truncated representation of the GPS week count associated with the UTC time parameters. (IS-GPS-200D, Section 20.3.3.5.1.6) It appears that certain types of receivers are continuing to have problems with the rollover even past the rollover date. If your's happens to be one of them, please contact your GPS equipment manufacturer to see if they have a fix for you.

  9. You should do a hard reset if possible and that means to unplug the head unit completely for an hour or two. There weren't any settings in the 'Navigation Options' menu relating to the receiver were there? My car is parked in the basement and I'm stuck in my room at the moment so can't really check it out right now.

Hopefully your GPS receiver is not totalled. If it is, you will need to open your head unit to change it. This is what the WinCE/GPS board looks like:

    img9199w.jpg

after unplugging for a couple of hours, do u still reset using paper clip?

as for settings I've looked everywhere and cant find a receiver setting.

luckily my unit is still under warranty, but not looking forward to sending away. Rob wants me to ring him and he will try and fix problem, wish me luck and thanks for the help, will let u know what happens.

  10. I don't know if this may possibly help, but when I had a similar issue, this is what I did (in iGO8):
Also, if you put this on your unit and find that it does not find any satellites, proceed with the following:

Go into your menu -> go right a page -> select 'GPS' -> remove the checkbox in 'GPS Enabled' -> then select 'Auto-detect'

    Thanks DJKOR,

unfortunately that was one of the 1st things I tried with no success.

this problem looks serious, hardware failure.

as a last resort I might reset. what do u think?

  11. a few days ago I turned on satnav on my auspac unit and it is not detecting gps receiver.

i changed to tomtom and still the same, i thought the cable may have come out so I pulled unit out and checked, everything connected right.

everything else on unit works except gps, I have contacted Rob @ auspack and he is looking into it.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has had similar problems and can help me out.

    Thanks George.

  12. I see your wiring looks a little bit different. Most likely due to extra options included with your car. Anyways, that red wire that you are holding on to is the wrong one. That entire plug is the incorrect one. If you look at your third photo, the plug that is directly above the blue plug is the one you will be looking for. After you unplug that, you should easily be able to see the wire that you need.

For situations like this, you should get yourself a cheap multimeter. They are really useful when you need to find wires like this.

As for the iPod adapter, I didn't need to drill any holes. There is a little cutout at the rear of the glove box that gives access to the pollen filter. You can conveniently route your iPod cable through here and that way it will remain out of sight.

    Thanks again!

  13. It sounds like your unit is a little different to mine in terms of wiring since mine had a pink wire for the reverse light power sense, and a blue wire to trigger an amplifier. The camera should be the same though so out of the camera you will have two leads. One is a yellow RCA which connects to the reverse camera video input at the head unit. The other lead is a two-pair which has both red and black wires. These are easiest to connect directly with your reverse lights at the bulb end. This way the camera only comes on when the car is put into reverse. Connecting this is as simple as splicing into the leads that go to the bulb on the boot lid designated for the reverse lights.Alternatively, from the sounds of it, your head unit has the black and red wires there to power your camera. If you want to, you can connect your camera power wires into that, but then you will need to run cables from the front to the back just for the camera power. Connecting them to your reverse lights would be a little more simple.According to the way you described your unit, I would say that on the head unit end, you will only now need the blue wire. This is easiest to tap into the +12v line for the reverse light itself. That's how I did mine except I did it from the passenger side kick panel to save on excessive wiring.
dsc02442lr2.th.jpg    dsc02436ay5.th.jpgIf you go that route, the plug that you will tap into has two red wires. The one you are after is that one with the silver dot on it.

I have spent a few hours today and have most of it done, dismantling and installing nav/tv/rear camera was easy thanks to this forum. The camera wiring is still a problem, camera has a yellow cable which plugs into unit, red and black which I connect to reverse light wires [brown & white]is this correct? is this all I need to do our do I have to connect the pink wire to passenger kick plate as well. if so did you splice into red wire with silver dot or inserted it into plug?

one last thing camera came with another set of wires camera power and reverse check up, ground and reverse light power i have att photo of wires. should I disregard?

    Thanks for your help.

  14. help with wiring please,

coming of the camera is a yellow which must go to unit and a black which I think connects to the black with 2 wires red & black coming out of it, but there is another set of wires blue [cam power & reverse checkup] red [rev light power] and black were do they go if I want to tap into reverse light?
