  1. gday guys,

i have a 03 camry sportivo. sometimes wen i start it, the revs don't go high enough and the engine dies like a second later. usually wen the car is warm. it's a weird symptom. so ill start it, the engine starts up properly and i let go of the key, watch the idle sit at around 4-500 and then it dies. doenst happen too often but id like to get to the bottom of it.

    any ideas anyone?

thnk it might be the starter motor?

    cheers in advance.

  2. gday there,

is there a thread or can anyone give me the instructions for removing the inlet manifold for an 03 camry sportivo. i need to change the spark plugs at the back and not too sure how to get to them.

    thanks =)

  3. Gday guys,

my beloved camry has seen better days. it was parked with the handbrake down and rolled into a tree. the rear is gone. i cant even open the boot. does anyone have any suggestions? the body is beyond fixing. but everything works perfectly. would it be possible to find another car with a crap engine and do an engine swap? is that a feasible idea financially? she's a gen3 wide body cam and the engine was running excellently and still is.

    ideas?

    questions?

    prayers?

    =(

  4. G'day guys,

i was clipped on the back today by a guy trying to change lanes. he scratched the bumper a little and damage isnt too bad. Slightly morphed a bit. I got his details and such but now im not sure where to go from there. I've never done anything like this. Should i make an insurance claim or something? and if so, how do i go about it? any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

  5. i got the same camry. word for changing the tape deck. i got rid of mine ages ago. a tape converter is ok but time to move onward and upward with technology ey? all u need is a flat screwdrive in the bottom left or right corner. u can tape it if u want but ive upgraded and moved my system heaps of times without taping it and it hasnt damaged anything. lever twds ur body and it'll pop out that corner. do the same with the opposite bottom corner and once both clips are out, it'll just swing off once u lift it. there are 4 screws that hold in the bracket to the player. once u drop those 4, it should pull out easy enough. wat out for the cables. as mentioned b4, u might need an adapter depending on how ur HU is set up. ive always needed one so if u do, u can shoot to supercheap and snap one up pretty cheap. wat kinda HU u got lined up? is it a double DIN unit?

    hope the info helps

    cheers

  6. those are pretty sweet figures.

im not doing too bad myself with a gen3 camry (auto). i get from about 10-11L/100km normal city driving. not driving like a dead person and not flooring it. i get some sweet figures on the highway. last time i drove to melb from syd, i made it on one tank. fill up as i left syd, fill up again in melb. cant complain. i think i was getting around 6.8-7.5L/100km that trip.

  7. yea id say becareful. it's tru that they would say anything to get a sale. their bread and butter is banking on it. Their first and foremost concern is bringing in dollars.

i wouldn't write it off completely. but the truth of the matter is, if a car dealer ship is offering something too good to be true, it normally is. for a cheap price, id say definitely get it inspected by someone you know knows their stuff and u trust.

  8. the subaru liberty is a beautiful piece of engineering. i have to admit that i love that car. but all things considered, the km difference is a bit too much in my opinion. id still stick with the camry. if the subaru had less k's then id go for it. in this case, id pass.

  9. im pretty sure.

ive had the tyres rotated and realigned. so the two front ones were in pretty sweet condition. been driving a bit and already noticed the inside wearing out again and ive been driving carefully to not knock the alignment out again.

  10. Negative camber is good for turning corners :spiteful:

You can adjust camber a little bit with the 2 king pin bolts (where the brakes at bolted onto the struts. Loosen them and there is a few degrees that you can play with it. Push the top in more and you'll get -ve or let it hang down and you get +ve camber.

From personal experience, I found that to make the tyres wear our evenly, it needs about -0.5-1o camber due to our roads.

can you do that with the pin bolts? i mean if i loosen the top one and let it hang, wont it wobble about wen i drive?

  11. hey guys,

finally doused out the problem. well no not really, but the light is working as per normal again. I started up the car and the light popped on again and has been working ever since. weird but not complaining personally. thanks for all the input. =) much appreciated.

  12. Does it do it on all the doors? What happens when you 'wiggle' the door pin switch around. Because these door pin switches ground against the car body, they can eventually wear and not give a good ground connection.

Edit: Possibly ignore that. So your lights are meant to come on as well when you unlock your car? If so, sounds like the timer circuit responsible for managing that has decided to give up.

yea, as per ur edit. wen i unlock with the remote, the lights meant to come on but it doesnt. i just removed a cb unit and reinstalled my dvd player. as now i realised that the light doesnt work. weird. timer circuit u say? wats that?

  13. weird thing just happened.

the inside car light wont come on wen i unlock the car or open the door. i can still turn it on at the switch, but it wont do it automatically anymore. any ideas anyone?

  14. gday guys,

the car is making clicking sounds now... =( uncool. wen i turn and stuff u hear that creak and click. just asking around to see how much replacements for these things cost generally? im assuming ill hafta replace both front cv joints as it clicks turning both ways.

on a side note, some ppl come to me mentioning cv shaft and other say cv joint. are they talking abt the same thing?

    thanks

    =)
