  1. gday guys,

im jus looking to flush out the coolant and refill it. just want to make sure im on the right track with this.

    widebody cam

theres a drain plug on the radiator and the engine block. pull out both. let it drain. (do i need to flush out further with water?) plug it back up and refill with toyota long life coolant.

    is that abt right?

how much is that coolant btw? where else can i buy it other than at peter warren?

  2. hmm

it was about 6 months ago i think.

the alignment seemed pretty perfect until recently when i nipped a curb. now its only a lil off. i think its been a lil off for a few months now. ive done a lil long distance travel on it.

i guess i should go for a realign n ask em what they think. ill rotate the tyres as well. see how the back ones wear afta the realign.

  3. ah yea i kno ill hafta get an alignment, but im also looking to what will fix the problem. i don't think castor angle will affect the fact that im getting an uneven wear. its more to do with the camber was my initial idea. im more wondering (mbruce) if the alignment is really all thats the problem. it seems a bit much that its wearing down like so just because of a little misalignment.

  4. hehe will do on the shots. ill try and load em up wen i get back.

the cold is a biaaatch in the mornings sometimes. hafta sit there counting clouds while the engine warms up, and they cool down so much faster in this weather as well. but wen ur driving, its the best kinda air. still i also miss the summer. we're all freeezing our balls off down under, trust me you.

  5. haha will do on the shovel, might hafta dig her out sometime depending on where i park but where im driving is bitumen road. its a main road as well, often used, so it shouldnt be such a hectic drive. im hoping it'll be relatively tame driving.

ill probably flush out the coolant and refill her up again just to make sure its in top condition. but other than that, id say she was rearing to go.

    woot!

love snowboarding.! cant wait to hit the slopes.

  6. gday guys,

i was looking at the tyres on my wide body cam today and realised that there was some serious uneven wear going on. the inside of both front tyres are wearing out a lot faster than the outside. im assuming this means that i have an excessive negative camber problem going on. these camry's don't come with camber kits yea? how much do they cost to install? is it an easy job that can be done at home? if so, does anyone have instructions on how to do this? i hear its not such a hard job.

    thanks for the contribution.

  7. hey i plan to go snowy mountain too, this 1st July. i am from sydney, i dont no how to get there. i wanna go thredbo.

you could drive there. thats how im getting there.

i'm running the standard tyres that come with the camry. bridgestone RE92's. ill drive her nice and slow in the snowy roads.

  8. well apparently u need it to get up to perisher because the roads are on a slope but to thredbo its all level so chains arent necessary. well im gonna wing it without them so lets hope all goes well.

ill jus give her a good once over b4 i head out. i think it should be aight

    =)

  9. im running basic oil 20w-50 more suited for warmer temps but ill only be goin for abt 3-4 days so i hope thats not a prob.

i heard that you should put antifreeze or some such in the coolant? wats the go with that?

oh and jus a little bit of a tangent, ill be going to thredbo, i hear that you don't need tyre chains to get there. can anyone confirm this?

  10. G'day guys/gals,

i'm about to embark on a trip to the snowies. I was wondering what things ill need to change or update or add or whatnot to my 4 banger 96 cam.

never driven her to the snow b4 so im pretty noob to the whole idea.

    thanks for the input! =)

  11. aight, ill jack her up and see how it looks and we'll go from there.

btw, since the weather is quite cold these days, should i look to changing to a different oil rather than 20w-50?

  12. im using 20w-50 atm.

could the colder temps of these days be a factor?

i should fill it up to full? i always thought that a below it was the mark to hit.

  13. she's done abt 120 000km so not too many. wen the engine is cold she smokes a bit. but thats normal enough. wen its warm, i dont notice any smoke coming out the back. to mayb i should check that again. if it was, then it wouldnt be much cos id see it through my rear view. i don't really work the engine hard mind you. not much of a rev head.

  14. G'day guys,

i have a 97 wide body cam and it seems to be losing oil. i did a service at home about a month or so ago and gave her a nice amount of oil sitting smack in the middle of the dip stick. now she's below low. i've been doing some long distance driving, but other then that, nothing new. anyone got any ideas why or how she could be losing oil? i've looked around the head and there doesnt seem to be a leak. could there be an oil seal leak somewhere burning oil?

    thanks for the input

  15. Just outa curiosity, does long distance driving wear down tyres much? im assuming in retrospect to how much ground u cover, long distance would be less demanding. but if im doing long distance driving regularly, should i expect to be changing my tyres more often? how often do you guys change? im assuming that most ppl change their tyres around 3 years??? is that about right?
