  1. mate what about your exhaust!? Did they actually get a decibel reader to test the level of your exhaust or did they just slapp you with a fine becuase they thought that it was loud?? They need to measure the reading at the point of issuing a fine and if they feel as though you do not comply with the correct emissions level you will be off to the RTA/EPA bays for a proper going over! :(

no decibel reader, but he did get me to rev it to 3000rpm and then asked me to back off, started writing up a ticket..

  2. King lows and superlows should still be way above 10cm. Are you sure he measured it correctly? Did he measure to the chssis or the exhaust. Maybe get some larger rolling diameter wheels/tyres to give u a bit of a lift, (hope they dont notice).

He used a wooden mallet, and slid it under the car.. meh i dunno I got 14 days to fix it...

are they the standard lows or super lows?

sounds a bit wierd to be... but with coilovers, even on the highest setting, they are still damn low...

What do I care, I've been riding stock for the last few weeks :P

Super Low's Front and back, I believe their the super lows for the standard corolla (50mm drop) and isnt the the corolla sportivo 25mm higher then the standard? therefore its roughly 75mm from stock? The top of my tyre is just flush with the guards? 17"

  3. Was driving yesterday afternoon and was stopped by a highway patrol. he insisted on examining my car and issued me with two defacts, "height not comply" and "exhaust not comply". Im happy to change the exhaust as its loud but im stumped on what im gonna do with the height as I have Koni's adjustables front and back, king springs and it sits so lovely. I also have to have it examed by "HVIS (Heavy vechile inspection station)" so I need to fix it legit. Is there anyway I can bump the height up a touch without removing the springs? I wish i had gone coilovers now!! grrr

  4. i tried searching for this but didn't find any results

If I lower my car (03 stivo) with say king superlows etc, do I need to change the shocks? / will the stock shocks life be significantly shortened?

If you lower on kings lows expect about 20 000k's before the inevitable. On super lows you can prolly allow about 15 000k's if your lucky. This also depends on how many k's your car has already done.

I got superlow's, my fronts went about 2000km .. rears are still quiet good, maybe 30,000km. i replaced the fronts with koni's, planning to change the rears shortly

  5. It is a pity,

I have had pieces of mine (namely inner plastic guard) fall off, because they didn't put all the plastic clips in at the SA plant when they made the car. I happend to be doing over 100 mph (yes i was in NT) when it flew out, needless to say, I shat for a moment when it happened. The air pressuse sheared the clips that were there clean off.

Upon closer inspection, 3 clips had NEVER been there, and it was on the front part and the lower front part, which of course is where the plastic guard cops the most abuse from air/water etc.

I'm not knocking SA specifically, I'm knocking Toyota, it often takes time to get a plant into a good rythm, may take 10+ years, I don't know how long SA has been exporting cars for, but the dudes on the production line need to know that EVERY part of a toyota has been engineered to be there, and they waste NOTHING, so by that rationale, they should put ALL the parts in, simple.

If Toyota are going to export cars from SA, then the dudes who are making the cars have to give a F***.

Oh, and I'm sure people will attest, how many of us have the inner boot tail-light covers (the carpeted ones) fall off???

Iv'e put mine back at least 30 times, now I have given up.

Can I ask the guys out there with Jap hatches, do they fall off too?? I'm curious, as if the jap ones do, then it is a design fault, not SA's.

who cares how dodgy it is? lol we all know ...... its just a corolla which is no pagini zonda quality.

just do wut i do :P if it breaks sell it to a P plater :D

  8. JEEEEEEEEBUS

what cannon are you running mike? screams its a55 off

Supercat man! cost me a fair bit actually but am more then happy with it! Bought a cheap cannon on my last car and for the first 1000km it was sweet but after it sounded tinny and ****.......... swore to never buy a cheap one again..

cant remember how much but this cannon still sounds as awesome as it did the day i drove out.... love it!

  9. I have an Asus 636 with copiliot in my sportivo and i use the suction cap on the windscreen and thir is no marks, doesnt fall off etc... if you dont want it on ur winscreen u will need to find/make some bracket to mount elsewhere

    Hello everyone,

I am scheduled to pick up my new Levin next week and researching on how to mount a TomTom SatNav. I am looking at a TTOne or a TT Go 710/910.

I do not like the windscreen mounting which comes with the TT as I have heard there are loads of problems (marks on screen, falls off, drooping etc..) and from a security perspective theives would know I have a satnav in the car and be tempted to steal it.

I saw there is a TT One mounting kit from a company in the UK which sells a mount either active (with power) and passive (without power) which sits over one of the air-con/fan ducts. Has anyone had an experience with this mount and is it easy to remove and setup. I am looking for a solution in which is easy to setup/remove.

Has anyone used a TT Go 710/910 in a Corolla '06? These units are slightly bigger/deeper/heavier than the TT One. I am considering getting one, but the mounting issue is making me go with the TT One at the moment.

    Cheers.

  10. I dunno if anyone else has faced this issue but be aware of all induction systems.

I've had my TRD CAI since Sept 03, apparently was the first one in AUS.. anyhoo, i installed it myself (3 friggan hours.... dont ask!)

after 56,000km i removed it the other day when i did a service... was dirty, thought id give it a good clean out! I noticed in 3 spots i have wear marks, almost through the thin pipe. in 1 spot in particualr seriously thinner then paper thin. I've removed the CAI because im not gonna risk the damage associated with having a hole in it.

I dunno how this could of happend because i espically made up 2 extra supports for the CAI when i installed it and it is extremely tight inside the engine.

Im thinking of changing to maybe an AEM system or something similar.

maybe next time you service your car, pull it out and check... cud save ur engine!

  11. I use my car daily, usually for work.....maybe 50km there... 50km back, usually putt around (fuel saving) and i find come the weekend when im all edgy bout going out i find hitting lift fairly poor for the first few times until i guess the cobwebs are blown out!

Toyota service tech told me once that if you dont use lift often its possible they may seize up... and truth in that peoples?

An american guy here drives a sportivo...he has 130,000k's on it now. Looks like it's had a hard life, and it's still going strong. I guess we'll all find out how well the 2zz's hold up in 5 years time (with regular services of course).

I gave mine a really bad strapping last week (was being followed by insane ex gf), so I've been pussycatting it everywhere now. Going to have it serviced again very soon (every 5,000k's sounds good from now on).

Every 5000Ks?! :o Serious? i love my stivo too, only do high reving street driving n no track work but i can't afford a service for every 5000K....i'd be doing that like every three months!!

Wen u say hard...how hard is hard?

when u say service every 5000km i assume you are implying, topping up fluids and oil change + filter.

I have 56,000km on my sportivo and use mobile 1 fully synthetic since 1000km run in. and i've checked my oil after 9000km and has still been golden. now i dunno a great deal about engine oil but from wut i understand is this, if its gold keep it in, if its black drain it out. surely there coudlnt be an outstanding difference between the two, i mean obviously the fresh stuff is always gonna be better but if its barely even changed colour.. just dont see the point

  12. just done an oil change on mine, Mobile 1 GOLD 10w30....... alot smoother, better power delivery.

More then happy! anyone else use it?

    5L Mobile 1 gold 0w40 $90

    5L mobile 1 gold 10w30 $79

    5L Castrol edge 0w40 $70

    4L Motul chromo 300 10w40 $89 <--- why so expensive?
