I noted in the forums that a number of people are knocking Tempe tyres with regards to:
* Quality of the rims (manufacturing quality)
* Dodgy tires included in packages
Without bad-mouthing any suppliers, does anyone know really (or even scientifically) what differs between Tempe wheel to, say an Osaka, Enkei/Advanti, Auscar wheels?
If we can do a comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of each wheel brand and have it as pinned on the Wheels and Tyres thread, that would help a number of newcomers to understand better what is inferred by quality and performance.
Tires can always be replaced easily but wheels are expensive and Tempe seems to have very good looking range of wheels than most places.
I got a set of 18" "clone" AME's for my previous car......... But i knew they were "Not Geniune" I knew they were "clones". i got a set of 4 rims and 4 Falken 215 40 ZR 18's, for $2200 almost 3 yrs ago.
I knew what i was getting myself into... and there is deffinately nothing wrong with falken's. quite a good tyre.
the "clones" are deffinately gonna be cheap ****, if you want a decent quality, atleast get a name branded rim.
ta.

group buy?? im keen if anyone else is.......... hot lil accessorie!! =)
-
cheers guys,
i thought it must have been a puncture or something but just the fact i didnt notice it until **** hit the fan....... it was 540am prolly bit too tired to notice..
aww well, got a new one on.. another cheapy.....see how it goes!
-
Sounds like a puncture. Low profile tyres don't like being driven on flat and even for a short distance you can do damage. Because the sidewall is so small it has very little flex(unlike say a 60 series tyre) so it heats up quickly and then starts to get a distinct wear line on the side wall. If heats up enough it begins to crack then ultimately it just tears the sidewall completely out of the tyre. That sounds like what has happened :D
I see your point, but the tyre was deffinately not flat as i set off. and highway driving i deffinately would of felt it pull to the left....
probably just didnt notice... oh well.
I still believe it might also due to cheap tyres.
cheers.

Saturday.
Driving along M4 Motorway, 110KPH, was driving for about 10mins and car felt normal then it just pulled to the left something shocking and smoke was pouring out of the left hand side... dodging other motorists (thank ***) jumped out to see the the inner wall of the tyre completely gone, guards full of rubber........
wonder why?
Tyres were fairly new (6/1/06) Silverstone 215 40's.$145 each. cheap ****. but cheap **** should deffinately be a DANGEROUS characteristic of the tyre. Maybe just faulty?
Took it to the tyre place, simply said sorry cant help u out there, u can buy a new one on monday though...
just wondering what cud have cause it? if its possibly due to "cheap" and "nasty" i wont buy cheap again.... too friggan dangerous..

03 sportivo. 40,000km
When i cold start my car something odd is just starting to happen. You mildy apply throttle as u leave the driveway, back to first gear and take off, she coughs and splutters. holds at a certain rev no matter how hard to push down the accelarator, feels likes is missing.
Injector problem?
anyone else had something similiar?

for the copy carmate in sydney usually has them in stock if you do not mind the complaints many people have about their products and services
in melb techieonthemove can order them in
but for the real ones which are very strong you can play cricket with them but very light weight can only come from japan
I went to carmate and asked them what they had for my sportivo. bloke just said "oh you have to go website"...... okay and out i went with a wallet full still.

I've been saving up for a major performance modification for my VVTL-i Corolla Sportivo and some of my
friends have advised me that supercharging it would be better. I still would like to know more about this like
how much would it cost me to have a turbo kit or supercharge kit? What are the best aftermarket or Toyota
Racing Development products that are compatible with the Corolla Sportivo VVTL-i engine? And what shops and
where in Melbourne, Victoria can I go to purchase these kits? Your advise is appreciated, Thanks
Rigoli has done 3 VVTL-I Turbo installs. $7800

ive had mobile 1 synthethic since the 1000km service. used it every time, as toyota boasts its quality.
seems to be good... oil on dip stick is always still clean, still golden even after 10,000km
