  1. i bought my 76 toyota crown super saloon last september and have been tinkering with it ever since. i've been trying to download/copy as much info about them off the net as i can but it can be hard to weed out some useful info from all the other crap that comes up in the search results. i do have a repair manual for it that i picked up off've Oztion and can copy (for personal backup purposes only of course :) ) if u really need them but it'll take time as i got my wedding sat week. lemme know what knobs ur looking for if u find/not find them but for some of those u mentioned the two horizontal red bars are indicator lights, the top to show the headlights are on and the lower one to show u've depressed the brake pedal (i'm happy to be corrected if wrong). my horn also doesn't work too so i think it may be one of those common issues with them, but the bullet proof motor generally makes up for it! And when i got the car there wasn't a belt on the a/c, try checking it with ur hand first then maybe try with a belt from supercheap for about $17....it'll prolly need a gas exchange depending on when it was last serviced. my main bit of advice would be to start with very specific google searches for crown info and go from there. anything else just holler.
  2. its gonna be tricky finding something nice in oz as they get snapped up pretty fast. Alot of guys i've met ended up making their own as they knew what they wanted and it saved money (but is an enormous pain in the *****). Else u can look at shipping something mass-produced over from the states, but there is a small risk of it having issues. but yeah, like TRD Sportivo suggests start with toyota and work ur way down from there. but by all means let us know how it goes n post some pics when u get it finished!
  3. cheers Shane, and i didn't think i'd find out for ages! now i can sleep better at night lol. and i guess i should have figured it as my boot release doesn't work and i thought i'd have to trace a break in the connection.
  4. lol yeah rear guns would be an added bonus. i did check the rear parcel shelf as well as the glovebox for anything resembling any refrigeration (or otherwise) hookups but with no luck....i've only found refrig units in the 80's models. i might trace the wires when i can get around to it, else re-wire it for a cooler box i was thinking of installing later anyway, i kinda figured it'd be a bit tricky seeing if anyone knew the purpose of the switch right away as these are a bit of a rare breed of car :) oh and no the underlining was just for effect - no hyperlink was entered.
  5. hey all, first posted topic i got a '76 crown super saloon that i've been restoring/repairing on the cheap and came across a switch that i have no idea what it does. i didn't get an owners manual and was given a repair manual as a b'day present that doesn't explain it either. to anyone who has a MS85, what on earth does the switch in the glove box do??? i've tried seeing if its for the glove box light, as a fuel pump kill switch, as a defogger, but it still is a bit of a mystery. i know i could probably trace the wiring if i take apart the wiring loom that it goes into but i don't get enough time on my pride and joy to be able to. if anyone can shed some light on this it'd be a huge relief.
