Hi guys, The other day, I was keeping too left on the road, and got the cars body scratched by the trees growing by the road. I did find this link too, which is at the top of google search results for rego hornsby, but it does not say much about these mechanics, rather what their web site has been search engine optimised. I was asking for someone whom you can recommend from own personal experience. I personally can recommend Payless Tyres in Chatswood - probably the best place I did a rego, was very quick, haven't been charged for anything other than a check itself. So, if you can recommend someone particular from a Hornsby/Waitara area, would appreciate that. hi guys, The driver side door - never had issues with it before, but since a few days ago it just wont open from the inside. when I pull the door handle (from inside) it only goes half way through and does not open the door. I can still open the door from outside (by lowering the window) or using the remote - but not from inside. Can't tell how did it stop working - because it was not me who found it. Could be just the rainy/wet weather affected the wiring, but can't really tell whether it a mechanical or an electrical issue. I remember that a year ago or so a driver door window was playing up - could not close it by pressing a button - but it only happened once and somehow fixed itself. Could be relevant to the todays door issue. Before I embark on trying to fix it myself - would like to get some pointers on what could that be and where to start. Cheers.

that might sound like a stupid question, but I would rather be seen as ignorant than to stay ignorant, so I will ask anyway: what is the point of fixing these small scratches? since my missus started driving my ... hmm ... ours Stivo, I see the new scratches almost every week and all I do is touching them up with a touch up paint. They are almost unnoticeable from the a few meters away, so why bother and spend hundreds of dollars on professional repainting?

I would hate to say, but if you are feeling this immediately after filling up, what you are feeling is most likely the placebo effect. Unless you are noticing a difference in feel due to slightly more weight being over the rear wheels causing less squat on acceleration, thus making it feel like something is different. You could be right about placebo effect. Went to my usual petrol station yesterday with a full tank, stopped there for a couple of minutes, and drove off the same way I usually drive from the gas station. The car was accelerating a bit quicker than just a minutes before... or so it felt on a long empty highway (just off the station) compared to the usual 40k limit neighborhood streets. That is actually air rushing out. Petrol is volatile. For example, (hypothetically) if you were to pour petrol onto the ground in one spot, then pour an equal amount of water on another, the petrol will evaporate faster. I would hope that you would know that already because if not, I'm not sure what they taught you in school, and that may be concerning since I'm sure most school kids go through the metho on the back of the hand lesson on evaporation. Anyways, when you have fuel in your tank, the lower boiling point of fuel means that part of it will become a gas and pressurise itself in your fuel tank. I won't go into the dynamics of that one because there is no need to. If you want more information, research "vapour pressure". When you open your fuel tank, you are releasing this evaporated fuel into the atmosphere, hence the hissing sound. It is nothing wrong with your car, it is just basic physics. My physics is a bit rusty and I don't know much about how the car works (a time to start learning perhaps) - but I though if the fuel somehow goes out of the tank into the engine through the fuel system, that should be creating a bit of vacuum in the tank.

I found that after I fill up the car with a full tank of gas it drives (for a quarter of a tank then it gets usual) a bit more responsively - accelerates faster, feels like it gets more power somehow. I also noticed that when I remove the gas cap I would hear a sound of air rushing in, and a bit of googling get me that it could be the issue with mass air flow sensor. Any ideas of what it could be?

Spoken over the phone with Toyota Chatswood/Artarmon today, they quoted $45 for cutting and programming a key, and told me that will program the remote for free. Sounds too good to be true. Going to pay them a visit on monday.

If not - how much does the dealers charge for the key fob programming (I already have a blank one)? Do I need to bring my car to dealership or the original keyfob should suffice?

have just returned from a long overdue vacation. a day before I left I got a car outside and had been listening music with a engine on for half an hour to charge battery to the max. didn't disconnect it. been away for 30 days, got back home, turned the key - and viola! my Camry started as smooth as usual. love that car!!!

I noticed that even if I drive for just a 10 mins and after I turn off the engine, got out of the car - my Toyota starts making creaking noises. Don't know how long does i last - I haven't been listening to that for more than a couple of minutes - but the sounds resemble either a sounds of cooling of metal or sounds of slooowly stretching springs/coils. The noises were coming out along the whole body car not just from under the hood - so I don't think its a engine related (this is my ignorance saying) Any ideas what it could be? Thank you.

I am looking for a parking sensors and reverse camera kit to install on my Camry 2004. Ideas is to buy a kit on Ebay and get it installed by local specialist. Any recomendations on a parking sensors set and a camera? I guess 4 rear sensors should be enough - but have never had those - so if you have any good/bad experiences with those - please share. The thing is - my wife is going to start driving soon - so I hope some extra parking tools will save her a lot of nerves and some money for me ;-) Recomendations on a mechanic who can install it a Lower North Shore (preferably around Chatswood/Artarmon area) - are also welcome. The pressure in the right rear tire of my Sportivo dropping from 220 to 150 every week/two. I only drive on weekends so I measure everything in weeks I do understand that this is not good but since I am newbie driver/car owner - I don't know what to do about that. It does not really affects my driving - the only hassle is I have to keep inflating this tire every weekend. 5 mins of work - but ... maybe I should do something about that - is it dangerous/unusual or is it typical? The car is 5 years old, sure that the tires are much newer - but ... The question is - my first rego e-safety check is due this month and I was wondering - where would be the best place to do it? I have bought as a used car from non-Toyota dealer in Burwood (not very close to my place), but I live close to Toyota Chatwood. Dealers locator on toyota.com.au says that Toyota Chatswood does not do any servicing/repairs and the nearest Toyota dealer which does that is in Mosman. Is it worthwhile to start/keep servicing in Toyota dealers (I want to perform my e-safety check and general check on a car at the same time) or should I try my used car dealer first, or may be I just need find a good mechanic in a Chatswood/Artarmon area (anyone can recommend one?) I am going to overseas for a month (two months max) and park my car (2004 Camry V6) - will I find a flat battery when I am back?
