Sweet, that's would I thought. I'll have to cross the bridge when the times comes I guess. What will you do when you need to get some tyres? Get a 3rd set of rims? :P You could sell the others off and it would be a cheaper way of doing things!
-
Even better, cheers!
Still might get the TRD ones though
-
I have noticed a few creaks coming from mine now which only happen on rough roads. If the music is low enough I know it's there and can hear it. It's starting to annoy me even more now. Because I know it's there and it's a problem I know want it fixed.
Like others I'm not confident about taking it to Toyota to have the dash removed though :(
-
I like bits and pices from some of the cars but I'm not keen on the whole lets make it lokk like a lowered lexus look.
The green one certainly is different and is growing on me though......

I've just found these mats for for ~$100 and come in black or stone with 'Aurion' embedded into them. If you don't want to sheel out for TRD ones and don't want 'Sportivo' on there either they may be a viable alternative.
-
My car didn't come with mats and I need to get some. I'd rather some plain ones than ones with sportivo written on them. $200 is pretty steep for car mats but like DJKOR I can be a bit picky about these things so will probably end up with TRD ones.
I wonder if we'd get them any cheaper buying a few sets together....

Moto: when i needed new tyres for my trd, the cheapest i could find was like $530ish... so all up it would have costed me like $2200...
thats how i justified getting 20s... :P hahaha
Cheers fot the info. but I'm a little confused. Are you saying for the high cost of the 4 tyres was so much that you got a new 20" wheel/tyre package for not much extra? Or are you saying that getting a 20" tyre is cheaper than getting a 19" in the size to fit the standard TRD rim?
I really like the TRD rims and want to keep them so may have to bite the bullet as far as tyre's go.....

Just found this thread. Good work DJKOR at the strip, they are excellent times for a standard family car!
I'm sure under the right conditions and with a few tweaks you'd be able to sneak into the 13's :)
-
They aren't my taste in wheels but as others have said as long as you like them it's what counts :)
-
I noticed he was running them. I was using them on my WRX for a while and found them to be excellent too. I can't compare road noise with the Dunlop though as they are on a completerly different car.
For $450 I would be more than happy to chuck Potenza's on :)
-
The tyres supplied on a TRD are excellent and are considered top end. They are Dunlop Sport Maxx. The standard size for the TRD tyres is 245/35/19 and they are anything but cheap. The best price I have been quoted so far is $518 a corner. They do seem to be a very good tyre though. I read a few reviews that said they were noisy but they are more than acceptable in my book.
Kumho and Hankook aren't considered by anyone to be 'very good' tyres. They do a reasonable job at a budget price but are no competition for the Dunlop/Bridgestone/Michelin offerings.

Have anyone heard anything about Stylish Wheels which is located at Moss St, Slacks Creek in Brisbane (Opposite Jax Quickfit Slacks Creek). They have the 19" Lenso Wheels in stock, but people from Jax QuickFit and Bridgestone Centre in Slacks Creek ask me to stay away, apparently quite bad jobs in fixing the wheels and lowering the cars. Any friend's friend have done anything over there.. Also what about Ozzy Tyres in Brisbane, are they any good?
I can't believe a tyre/wheel supplier would tell you to stay away from a competitor. How unusual......
The lenso's look ace, my second favourite would be the Advanti Tenzo :)
Good luck with your search.

Looks nice, I'm thinking of sorting something similar for mine :)

first of all , I would like to salute you for your amazing thinking ( Dream ) in fact I always consider Supra's to be one of the Smartest options for modification .
let me give you a quick idea that will take you a way beyond 500HP
first of all I’m assuming that you already having 2jz as the engine for your car
The car was stated as 1996 model, all models from 1993 onwards had a 2JZ.
a lot of sites out there give you complete projects to modify your supra
as a start I suggest that you put a target in mind about whether you are willing to keep in as off-road , or street legal supra .
I highly recommend that you remove the TT and think seriously of adding a big single Turbo specially T88 ( I adore this one )
It was stated as a non turbo so there isn't any TT to remove. A big single is only really required if you are aiming at >500HP. Hyrbrid twin turbo's can be a better option if you're happy with upto 500HP.
anyways you have to take into consideration a lot of things
Single turbo
Custom downpipe and mid-pipe
oil feed and return lines
install block-off plates
gear + transmission If it's a manual the gearbox is already good for 1000HP, with an auto a higher stall torque converter will be required
intercooler
Suspension, Brakes, Wheels, and Tires
Greddy Profec Type-S boost controller A fuel cut defender is also required to stop fuel cut at higher boost
along with so many things ( many but not complicated if you knew the right car shop that can help you in ordering parts + installation )
At 500hp+ you will need to beef up the top end of the engine with stronger rods, pistons, metal head gasket, replacement ECU etc. this are big ticket items
I know some guys in my area managed to reach 1200HP with 2JZ without stroker ( 3L only )
With massive $$$ spent this is achievable, to do this without any sort of financial/sponsorship backing would be crippling.
anyways I highly recommend that you browse a lot of such sites to give you an idea of where shall you start . by the way if you don’t have the time , you can just buy a fully modified supra available in many sites designed to sell modified supra’s only
Good advice
God Bless the Supra 4ever
I know this is only spam but for anyone actually thinking of doing this I have added to some of the above post B)

The Supra is a great car and is amazingly reliable. It has the same internals as the TT but lower compression and a lot less stress (even the TT's can be seriously modified before internal mods are required).
The DC5 is a great car also, but a different beast. Then again it's newer.
Reliability wise I wouldn't be concerned about getting a Supra at all. I wouldn't bother with the FTO, but that's because I've never really been keen on them. From all reports I've heard they have been reliable.
-
If I find m,yself with enough time I may have a go myself. Failing that I may just take the parts to a painter and get them done there. If/when I do it I'll be sure to get some pics and post them up :)
-
Just read the posts referred to from the FAQ and that answers it nicely. Panel filter it will be :)
-
My concern with these is that I've never seen one fitted that hasn't been noticable and therefore looked cheap. Thanks for the link though, I didn't even know they were available :)
-
I'm looking for a K&N filter for mine too. I really want CAI though but don't know the ins and out's of fitting one to an Aurion.....
If I find anymore info. I'll post up :)
-
I did it before in a Supre I had a number of years ago. It was a PITA because the Supra dash had a rubber sort of coating over the plastic.
With an etch primer and decent paint I reckon the lower half of the dash comes away pretty easy. I don't mind leaving the top half silver, just want to make the inside look 'less silver'. I'm thinking a nice gunmetal or black.
Red colour coding would good too. I've already got enough red i my car though :P
-
Has anyone on here painted the dash in their Aurion? I ask as I'm not a fan of the big silver plastic centre section and am thinking about paiting the lower half a darker colour.
I did do a search but didn't find anything....
Cheers,
Steve

Welcome zxc33, I'm new here too :) There's plenty of info. regarding the SX6 and ZR6's here so you should be right. Appears there is less info. regarding the TRD's though. To be expected I guess as there isn't very many of them.
-
The engine covers look real good when painted up. You boys have done a great job. I particularly like the dark Toyota badge too. Would look great against my SIlver Ash Aurion.
Have any of you guys seen or considered painting the centre console and changing it from that ugly looking silver? I did it on my Supra years ago but it was a pain in the ***** and and I don't know if i could be bothered again.

I pretty much asked myself the exact same question recently and ended up with a TRD Aurion. Everyone has their own view on what they'd spend the money on, for me, I wanted a newish car (mine has 15K on the clock), looks good, economical to an extent (I drive 125Km's each day) but still with some poke and nice looks.
None of the Euro's have the same power of looks for the money and I'm not keen on spending that money on a commodore or falcon that everyone else has got (despite the fact I admit the SS and XR6T/G6ET are quicker).
I don't rip the crap out of my cars on the road anymore and try to hammer every street corner like I'm in pole at Silverstone so the FWD and torque steer thing isn't a massive issue for me.
As an all round 4 door car, that's new, low mileage, economical, spacious, different from the norm and reliable what other choice is there. In my opinion any other new car near the money I paid for the TRD gives up one of the traits I want.
If it wasn't for the fact that I've done so many miles in my 05 WRX I wouldn't have gotten rid of it. Also if Subaru hadn't made the new ones ugly and the Liberty underpowered I would probably be sitting in one of them.
Good luck with whatever you choose, it's your money, spend it how you want :)
TRD Aurion Supercharger for sale

I'm amazed that this is still around, even given the fact it's not a straight forward fit. People will spend $4-5K on a paint job, god knows how much on a body kit, tints, stereo etc. but a genuine supercharger made specifically for your car that you can't normally buy for less than $10K and nobody wants it!
