  1. yES, HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AND BELEIVE IT OR NOT IT'S SUCH A SIMPLE PROBLEM.

AIR IN A POWER STEERING LINE !!!!

YOPU GET AN AIR BUBBLE AND THE WHOLE SYSTEM GOES HAYWIRE. YOU STOP FOR A WHILE AND IT GOES AND MAY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

HAD IT ON THE WIFES OLD FAIRMONT !!!

  2. Guys just over a week ago had my prodicy in for it's 901,000k service. When I arrived at the service reception they said they were doing the scheduled service and that they were replacing the opil line UNDER A TOYOTA upgrade whatever, no charge of course. Added an extra hour to ther service time. IF YOU TAKE YOUR VEHICL;ES TO YOUR TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY SHOULD BE UP FOR DOING IT AS PART OF A RECALL. :D :D

  3. Hey guys, the cars on the home page have just about all be superseeded, the home page of a site is like the welcome mat at your front door, it should be clean and tidy, up to date so as to convince vistors to enter !!

With new items there well over 12 months and older, what is there that makes our site inviting and look progressive ????

Whilst we all may not visit the home page others do ...,.

You also need to remember that this site is provided as a free service. Members like yourself who do not pay don't exactly help towards funding someone's time to be able to approach the update. Those that own this site have a life to attend to as well. They aren't paid to keep this site here. You may be thinking that the contributing members like myself should be able to cover this, but in actual fact, you need to consider hosting and all that as well which is where that support mainly goes.

Be grateful that you have this site for free in the first place and that you can be here without proper contribution.

Your points are noted yet, but you can't deny my point ... IT'S SO OUT OF DATE !!!! and thats not a good look :(

  5. Secondly, TomTom is either made to run on specific TomTom units or Windows Mobile. Getting it to run on Windows CE which is what these head units use requires a bit of work to try and unpackage everything and get it running perfectly. As a result, you won't really find anyone using it. In most of our navigation head unit threads, we have discussed the different software and iGO8 appears to be the most user friendly.

I am new to posting but a silent observer for a long time. Thought i should reply as i am using TomTom. I recently purchased a headunit from Auspack and it has both IGO8 and TomTom. I can select whatever i want.

    HTH

Thanks for the info, I thought Tom Tom gear should work with these units as they are now running the corret prtogram that should handle them, which do you prefer, IGO8 or the Tom Tom, how do you find the Auspack unit, I've been tossing up between that unit and the Dig Options unit, Did you instal the rear view camera they supply, if so is it OK?

  6. The reason why the two main questions you have asked have minimal coverage is because the simple answer is that no-one has gotten the digital TV upgrade and no-one is using TomTom on their navigation unit.

Firstly, the antenna placment though has been answered and such a thread is the following. If you were to get the digital TV tuner, the same still applies:

    TV antenna

TV antenna's on a car is not always the easiest thing to integrate. When it comes to TV reception, a Yagi antenna is on of the best designs. Problem is, it is directional and on a car, is pretty much impossible. Therefore you are left with a variety of dual or quad mast antenna's. For best reception, you are best mounting on the exterior of the car. You can get ones that are like mobile phone car kit antenna's that stick on both sides of the glass as well. That will save you from running cables to the outside of the car. Otherwise you could go for a boomerang design like the limos have, LOL. But even still; reception is pretty subjective to your location.

If you absolutely must have TV, antenna's like this would provide you with decent reception if you are willing to sacrifice the clean looks on the outside of your car:

Thankyou for that information, nice that someone WILL take the time to help rather than be sarcastic, thnaks again.

  7. :(

I don't mean to be rude... but........ All of this information is available here already. Although it is a little bit scattered the information could have been found in less time than it takes to create and write a new thread with questions and wait for someone willing to repeat them self.

Also, creating a new thread doesn't always yield the best results because there are usually existing active threads with like minded people have the same discussion. Most of the vets around here couldn't be bothered to keep repeating them self.

Search and Google is your friend.

I understand the time I took to write this could have been used to help you with your questions...... meh.

BTW the chief purchasing officer part cracked me up! :D

Ok then, as I said have followed a lot of the posts on this subject but haven't seen anything that answers my questions, if you know here they are, then point me in the right direction !!!!!!!

  8. Hi Guys, we are thinking about buying a new headunit for our Prodigy, Auspack, Dig Options etc. I gained a lot from monitoring the posts about these units but have a couple of questions to those who already have them installed.

1: Has anyone out there installed one of the opitional Digital TV tuners (DVBT) if so what are your thoughts, what sort of aerial do you use and where have you mounted it in your vehicle. I had seen some aerials that can be stuck to windshield or back window, they look rather like the heater elerment in the back window or buiilt in radio aerial that we have in the Aurion etc.

2: The idea of purchasing one of these units has to be approved by my cheif purchasing officer !! Wifey. Having just about finished training her to use a Tom Tom GPS, I was wondering if anyone is running Tom Tom maps system on their unit, would be easier than haveing to go through the hastles of re-training her to use something new.

I look forward to some help with these questions

    regards

  10. Hi All

New member here...have made a couple of posts over the last week or so.

Anyways officially became an Aurion owner today. Our AT-X arrived today and it looks great. We got it in reef, the colour looks really good in a variety of lighting. Took a couple of pics on the phone so will pick the best soon and post them.

I love that I can use my iPod/iPhone on it. :)

Was really hot today, didn't spend to much time with the car...except to install the baby seat.

So just wanted to say a quick hi, I'm looking forward to the many discussions to be had on this forum.

    Cheers

  13. mine is due for it's 90,000 km service in a few thousand k's. This usually wouldn't be far away, but at the moment... it may take a little while.

Anyways, I would expect it to cost me no more than $250 and that is providing my own fluids. Looking at the service requirements in the service schedule, there isn't anything out of the ordinary compared to previous major services that I have had.

I will be adding about $100-$150 to that though because I will be getting a transmission fluid change.

Thanks DJ, I think I will phone around, seems high to me, even the wifes Prius never costs anything like that, yes I know chalk and cheese, but they seem to think the Prius should cost an arm and a leg and it dosen't even have belts etc. top be worn, checked etc.

  14. Try tighening all the bolts on the doors, I had the same kind of rattle, ended up being loose bolts for the door lock assy...

Thanks for the info, did that today, stripped the door trims checked all nuts and bolts, took it for a test drive and still their....

GRRRRRRRRRRRR toyota better find what it is, starting to reall work me up...

mATE, i HAD A SIMILAR RATTLE, BUT SILLY ME, IT WAS AS ACTUALLY THE SEAT BELT CATCH THINGO TAPPING EVERY NOW AN THEN AGAINST THE PILLAR. DOSE IT HAPPEN WHEN YOU'VE GOT A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER OR TRAVELLING ALONE ???

  15. You have a good point there Deanja,

However, 99% of the regular member here actually skip that front page and comes straight to the forum. If you have not mentioned it I would have forgotten that it actually exists. But I will bring it up with other mods :)

    Ken

Thanks Ken for your support there. I guess my point is that a home page is like a car, if it's kept looking smart and in good nick it will attract a lot of admirers, if it's out of date (and in this case the latest home page posting is nearly 12 months old) people won't give the site a second look and dig deeper to find whats under the hood !!

Whilst your point is taken that regulars and experienced members might have bookmarked their choosen forum, for potential new members, at first glance, the site would, based on the home page material and the Toyota news etc., appear to have had it's day and no longer be current.

Look forward to other members thoughts and regular updates, mods etc. to the page.

  16. We had some dash rattles ? Squeeks/ groans, what ever in our new Aurion, the frix was very simple, without having to get the dealers to remove all the dash etc (a two day job), two pieces of inch long rubber, pretty thick by about half inch wide (sorry hard to teach an old bugger metics) and sqeezed it in between the lower part of widescreen and the very from edge of the dash board top panel just adjacent to the front dash speaker grills. You can't see the rubber and bingo no creaks, groans etc etc. simple!!!!!

  17. Welcome to TOCAU...hows the Prius go compared with the Aurion...

Two different classes of cars of course. The prius has so much more get up and go than i thought it would have, very comfortable and roomy for it's size and of course the ecconomy. Great when I want to slip down the shopping centre, parking and all.

The Aurion, well for an old bloke it brings out the boy racer in me I guess.

We bought both cars at the same time, 3 weeks ago.

The wife got fed up with all the recession doom and gloom and on a wet weekend said , totally out of character for her, lets buy some new cars. She's the banker, the one with all the loot and as far as cars go has never really been interested, but likes what she sees when we're driving around. I mean this little wood duck wasn't exactly going to say no thankyou.

We're very pleased with both cars.
