  1. I agree you need to find the cause which is most likely poor mount alignment or wrong fitting. in my own Sportivo, i've replaced the front mount once and that fixed it. no signs of further issues.

i work at road and track and they sell uprated rubber mounts for all sorts of toyotas. from personal experience, the poly inserts etc are hopeless in a road car, as they transmit far too much NVH.

I have tried the Sikaflex with limited success. they dont make a suitable product that is anywhere near as hard as the genuine (soft) rubber.

  2. i need to fix 7MG engine in my MA70 supra

    my choices are

    1) 7MGE known OK engine , does not need ancillaries like alternator. must be a known good runner with no bottom end rattles, good oil pressure etc

    2) complete 7MGTE with loom ecu etc which I'll transplant.. dont care if GTE engine is sick as I'm prepared to rebuild this.

what have you got??? cash waiting. provided you will strap it to a pallet, I'm happy to get it shipped, but the closer to brissy, the better.

would consider a cheap car to get engine

please pm here or phone 0417-687161. thanks a lot.

  3. have got a set. took them off a car i bought that had been sitting for about a year with dead engine. according to the cars owner, they had only beeen on it for about 6 months before engine blew. brand is KSport. comes with the adjusting tools to alter shocky setting. have never driven car with them on. make a sensible offer. I can pack them up but you can sort freight with E-go or similar. i expect postage will be much dearer.

  4. thanks, I'm just chasing old engines suit rebuild. i'm doing a couple of modified 2 litre 2ZZ's for my own project cars, and thankfully have my own workshop to do this sort of thing.

there were 3 cars getting wrecked last week in brissy, so engines are plentiful at present

  5. i have just fitted a standard 2GR V6 to a MR2 at my work. I have used the US made headers, and whislt OK, they are far from perfect. They remove the cats which is illegal here and will prevent a car getting a mod plate in any Aust state. They will not suit the Aurion without changes

The Aurion uses 4 oxy sensors, 2 of which are special wide band units. we have refitted them in our project car as we have made up new cats.

We have a few other modified engines under development including a Motec ECU for them. We have our own dyno, so can post up charts in due course.

without wanting to convert this into a commerical advert, anyone wanting Aurion headers should PM me and I'll see if I get enough interest to warrant tooling up for them.

  6. if its a 2ZZ, then tow in drive away could be anything in $3000-$6000 depending what is found. highly unlikely its damaged the crank or head, but if the bent rods have caused bore damage, then it will definitely be at upper end of price range as a new/sleeved block is needed.

you will expect to pay at least $2000 for a wrecker engine + fitting

if you decide to go down that route, I'll be interested in buying the old damaged engine

  7. removed or modified thermostats are usually a sign of some idiots attempt to solve a problem

removing the foot valve off the thermostat means about 20% of the water never goes thru the rad, but jsut goes round in circles in the engine

the fans only need to work when the gauge just over 'normal" . they are wired so they are "on" unless the sensor says its cold. that way they are fail-to-safe

overheating when idling/low revs is often a blockage

overheating only when driving is is often radiator based

overheating constantly is usually blown head gasket. other sign is moisture/milkiness under the oil filler cap. easy to test for this
