G'day , just discovered this forum and seems like some people in here really know their
stuff .. so I figured I come n ask for a few ideas for modifying my 1985 Hilux 1 Tonne which I recently
bought for a staggering mind-blowing..... $200.. with $600 repairs/extras to get it RWC'd.
I am just above beginner when it comes to automotives , but if you say the name of any parts, dont worry
I know what they all are.
As you can see my budget is tight but if the mod is worth it , ill pay whatever's needed.
At the moment the only things really changed as per the engine is a Pod air filter and some
newer accessories (fuel filter, new cables, spark plugs n general stuff) .. to make it run smoother ..
Pod air filter is facing left towards the engine, I have faced it right but when going over bumps it taps the
inside of the bonnet , later on ill be a new neck for it so it sits in the gap towards front left headlight and
most likely have plex over top for hot air blockage and more flow.
Im not fussed on sound systems/amps because I know that stuff quite well and aim to
whack in a nice setup later when I have more than enough money to throw around.
But some alternatives to make the thing :
- run faster
- sound nicer (give it some balls)
- reduce fuel consumption
- general overall better look compaired to standard.
... would be ideal . and any other great ideas.
I have 4 Green LED strips approx 50-70cm long coming my way soon for interior lighting and exterior.
I'll post photos when these are installed; preferabley behind grill , left n right puddle lights and across length
of inside car behind accellerator going to passenger foot area.
I also want to re-paint the tray , but unsure what paint to use for best protection against weather and wear of course.
As far as I know , breifly talking to previous owner , it is a 1.8L motor from an old Supra
(but I dont think he was confident that he knew his ****) if anyone can clarify what motor
it is from pictures that ill take tomorrow , i'd sleep easier (since I want a manual for whatever motor it is!!)
Its 5 on the floor, though the standard motor prior, was 4 on the column.
All ideas welcome!
I'll be visiting the thread often , so expect prompt replies.
I'll be uploading photos tomorrow morning/afternoon.
Cheers ,
- Jake
