  1. Hiyas, Im from Brisbane, QLD give me a buzz if you want to catch up sometime.
  2. Hiyas, I would be giving it a good wash, and taking a look at it in a week or so. If by that time it is dripping or there are oil beads it is something to worry about.
  3. Hiyas, Is the colour of the oil a very clean colour, or a darkish colour like engine oil?
  4. This could also be a possibility, most pad indicators just make the brakes squell rather than a grind noise. It depends what the actual scrapping noise is like - whether it is a harsh grinding noise or moreso a rubbing noise. You said you could feel it in the brake pedal it sounds more like the pads could be grinding. Just another question, does the car have abs? Yeh thats correct. The pads themselves will be stronger than the stock rotors and wear the rotors more than the pads. Just like the holden astra, the pads holden puts in them are so hard it makes the discs wear faster than the pads.
  5. Hiyas, Correct me if i am wrong, however i don't think that a duplicate key can be used. From what i remember, if you were to loose your keys, it costs up to $2000 to get a new key because this requires the computer and ignition to be replaced. However i may be misunderstanding your intent.
  6. Also, how many km's has the car done? Have the pads ever been replaced?
  7. Hiyas, This is something that your going to have to check yourself to be sure its the pads. If you can pull the wheels off and take a good look at the discs. Else, look at the inside of the discs from underneath the vehicle and through your rims from the outisde if possible. You are looking for a dull plain silver shinless area on the disc. Pressing lightly on the brakes may not be a problem cause you will most likely find that there is only 1 pad out of the 4 pads that are grinding. However, like i said its going to be a matter of having a look.
  8. Hiyas, Depends if you are wanting toyota genuine or aftermarket pads. Genuine pads would be up in the $100 range, whereas aftermarket pads such as ACDelco or Lucas are in the $30 range. Keep in mind whenever you replace brake pads you should have the disc rotors machined to remove warpage and squelling. Since it sounds like your pads are grinding the disc, it is very highly recommended you have the discs machine (if they don't need replacing).
  9. Hiyas, Sounds like your brake pads are grinding metal to metal. I would highly recommend you don't use the brakes at all and take it to a mechanical workshop or toyota. Either get it towed or use the handbrake carefully to brake if its a short trip. Using the brakes will damage the rotors more and may result in them having to be replaced, rather than machined and repaired.
  10. Hiyas, Just an update: i had a look at the leak again thismorning, and it had trailed across from where the head connects to the block. 7 days ago when i last inspected it, it was only a minor amount of dampness on the r/h/s. This weekend if i get time im going to pull the timing chain cover off and take a more detailed look so i can see what is definately leaking. There could be a possibility that it is a cam seal leak then trailing down and out of the timing cover and along the head. I guess time will tell. If anyone is interested will keep you all updated on how things go. *shakes head at only 20,000kms*
  11. Hiyas, This is most likely could be either exhaust or clutch related. If it is clutch related see if the noise alternates when you push the clutch pedal in and out. It possibly could be the thrust or throwout bearing or a worn clutch plate. If it is exhaust related try bringing the revs up and down to see if the noise changes. It possibly could be an exhaust headshield rattling, or possibly the baffle inside your exhaust starting to collapse.
  12. Hiyas, I appreciate the input guys. Can anyone suggest what they think is best - double, single din, brand, buy online or at shop, etc. Thankyou all very much.
  13. Hiyas, Thanks for the reply. I might measure the size of a double din and see how it compares. In my opinion single din looks awquard.
  14. Hiyas, I was moreso asking if theres a size head deck designed for the size on the corolla dash.
  15. Hiyas, Yes the colour of your car paint is 8P4. The transmission/axel and plant/build are irrelevant. If you want to be 100% sure about your colour you could compare it to the information in your service and warranty manual. Also sometimes it is on your roadworthy and registration certificate, however it's not normally the code just a shortened version of the word i.e. BLU. Still could be worth a try though to confirm it.
