  1. Yeah I think this is a good idea!

....I'm trusting you bout the dirt Mick.

My car had a detail last night so its all ready to go!

Maybe meet for lunch somewhere bout 12, then cruise out for the shoot, then another cruise elsewhere if everyone is up for it before venturing home.

Hope 12 isn't too early for everyone. That way everyone can be home by 3 or 4 to get other stuff before the end of the day. (I'll need to anyways).

Post up some ideas for the lunch venue guys, thats if everyone is in agreeance of course!

Lunch...lunch lunch. Let me seeeeee (dammit, I hate it how we don't have kebab vans here!!!) a list I have prepared:

    a) We could be super cool trendy ******ers and get something in Manuka or Kingston (Sammy's Kitchen...sweeeeet).

    B) We could get something from civic, like Chicken Gormet or Kapital Kebab.

    c) We could go through a drive through, get ****, go to the Carillion and then eat it beside the Lake or something.

"Oh yeah? WELL MY UNCLES JUMBO JET COULD BEAT YOUR SSS IN A STRAIGHT LINE DRAG!!! SOOO MERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!" - Rob, Sportivo owner.

  2. Hooray!

Hey 'Berrans, Micahel reckons it's illegal for me to run 18" fulsiks on my Conquest 'cos "the law <_< " says I can only ride on wheels that are no more than 2" greater than the stockies (15" wheels from factory obviously). This sounds very uncool :o , so let's listen to Mick (as opposed to Michael) who reckons it should be fine  provided I get 215 / 30 / 18 size tyres. HOWEVER  there's a guy on the site called "Jade" (at least I assume it's a guy) who's running 18" wheels on a Conq and he(?) has 215 / 35 / 18 tyres... :o So... Sup with that  Also that guy who just made that post called "My Corolla" in the Corolla section is running 18" on a non-Sportivo too but I haven't asked him about tyres.

    Any pearls of wisdom?

Roger Dodger over and out (just practicing the lingo for our CB radios) B)

My motto is mate if you don't drive like an idiot usually no-one will bother you lol. Bangn' and Danz' motto too.

Now, as for the wheels. 215/30/18 should be a better profile as the rolling diameter is the same (speedo won't be out by much at all). The guy who's running 215/35/18 would have to compensate big time when driving for speed. Ring up the motor registry and see what they say (I did this with my ride height issue). You'll get a straight answer almost immediateley. If they say no (and your brother was correct) then I think the only way to get 18's on your car is through an engineering certificate I think!?. I say this only because I've seen so many done up lancers/pulsars with 18's on them (an old mate has a VRX with 18's [15 in standard]) so there has to be a way to do it without causing a ruckus. Do keep in mind though mate that some people don't care about the law in order to get their car looking decent lol.

"Bomb Planted!" - (Richo and Rob performing covert ops. against the Pulsar boys and utilizing our CB radio's as a communications link). HE HE HE

  3. 18s Mick, 18s ;)

    hahahaha

    Now your talkin!

Wasn't sure what your preferences were. Some people to have abit of a sidewall so that you retain abit of comfort. Unfortunately you'll possibly have to go to a 30 series tyre (as opposed to my 35 series). This is simply because the 1zz comes out with a smaller rolling diameter wheel than the 2zz.

I'll take you for a run in my car though, its nowhere near rough.

I will need new shocks before long though. Perhaps coilovers instead.

I'll see what my suspension guy says though...he knows his sh!t.

Yeah man he should say it's all good. 35mm drop still gives us decent suspension travel and isn't too hard on the stock shocks. If you went lower (55mm drop or 65mm) our shocks would go after about 2 years. But it is a good excuse to get coilovers lol. My list so far are three main brands: Koni ($$$ I think), TEIN, and cusco.

Of all three of those I've come up with the following:

KONI = Fecking expensive but the damper adjusting and build quality is insane (they use them on touring cars), but they do have ride height adjustables only (no damper) if you wanted a slightly stiffer ride and the ability to dump it or raise it without busting your wallet. This was a high recommendation from my godfathers son who races with a set of koni's (more importantly from someone that's trusted in the family lol).

TEIN = Suprisingly seems to be the best bang for buck (seems to be) $2170 for a set of four damper, pillowball/camber adjustable and rideheight adjustable coilovers. This quote was from Capital Steering and Suspension. There is an issue with Capital Steering and Suspension that I'll discuss with you guys outside of this forum tho lol.

CUSCO = $2800 for Cusco Zero 2 (used by the infamous Mr. North and the super cool wei wei), they are damper and ride height adjustable. $2150 for Cusco Zero 1, they are ride height adjustable only. Cusco for some reason are all the buzz when it comes to our cars (build possibly).

The exact dimensions of a coke can btw is 123mm high (thought I'd add that if we ever wanted to dump our cars more and not get defected by the RTA pests [poor Richo :(]). 123mm off the ground with no weight, 100mm off the ground with full load. Mick, you and I can only go an extra 1/2 an inch at the front and 1 inch at the back as an example (equal gap front and back sets up our cars perfect apparently [rear guard is lower than front]). So yeah.

Anyway sorry I raved on. Just thought it would be fair that I share my findings with my comrades.

I REALLY want my car to handle better and sit perfectly.

Anyhoo, peace out people and take care!

Note: I rang the Dickson motor registry today. 100mm IS the legal limit irregardless of the 'coke can clearance' crap. I'm sick of being thrown one way or another regarding this but I've finally come up with a final conclusion regarding that. Richo, what they said to you was bull****. If that ever happens again tell it to their faces lol "Measure it PROPERLY *******." hehe.

Just thought I'd update you on my findings (yes I know I'm anal about ride height...I'm sorry lol).

    Ciaos.

  4. Yeah man, an intake is probably going to be my next mod (either that or the stereo).

I think my exhaust will get louder with an intake too... yikes!

I shall send you a clip of David from melbourne. He is running a muffler and Injen CAI. The tone and sound is awesome hehe. The car just growls loudly when it's opened up and purrs down low. It makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up lol.

  5. 18s Mick, 18s ;)

  6. Yeah BBQ or something would be cool. Although if todays weather is anything to go by, its gunna get real cold real quick!

Approaching my 2nd Canberra winter...not looking forward to it.

(Dammit, they dont have an emoticon that looks like an Eskimo)....

The cold air will do the 2zz's and 1zz's good tho. Imagine the pull we'll all have when we grab cold air intakes mick ;) hehe

  7. Good Morning!

We have finally worked out a time for our meets each month!

When: Last Monday of every month (next will be the 24th April)

Where: The Lighthouse, Belconnen (im pretty sure its on Emu Bank)

    Time: 7:30 ish

What?: have a nice feed, play a couple of games of pool, then bugger off and do whatever we feel like at the time!

Anyone is welcome, but probably would be best if u posted up in here that u were coming to a certain meet so that us who are there everytime know to look out for u!!!

Just a chance to meet up and have a feed and a chat with other corolla enthusiasts, so come along and have a good time!

p.s also on a side note, we are planning to do a Sunday cruise between the monthly meet occasionally, first one is planned for the 8th but i think we should just work it out by chatting rather than having something set to do, yeah?

    cheers guys!

    Michael

    Goddammit I'm sick again!

Anyway, btw I like the idea of having a random BBQ. Let us arrange one in the future down at the cotter or something and bring some friends etc. And if you have a fishing rod then you can catch dirty **** carp  .

BYE BYE for nowwwww!!! (I'm high on cold and flu tablets  sorry)

  8. Good Morning!

    Michael

This is fine Mr. T. I'm happy either way B)

  9. Mick, you are a genius. See!!! The Italians are pure class!!!

Lol, anyway. Cheers Eggbert, we shall keep in touch.

And Mr. T, I shall give you an sms letting you know what's going on. I managed to get hold of order_last_1 and he pm'd me last night saying he'd come. Richo stated he will be coming also. Mick is a no unfortunately (won't be the same without you mate), but hopefully some of us will turn up, although not many people replied to my thread :S. So far I've counted only four of us I think (you [if you can brave the rain :(], richo, order last 1 and me lol). I hope to *** there's more. Will keep an eye on this forum tho.

And as for the SSS, good work Mr. T (I piddy da fool haha). I wish it was me. Hopefully I'll hear about it tonight if you come. Maybe we can hang about at the servo out of rain if there's not too many of us mate???

I'll be watching!!! Come on people POST! lol

  10. ************************ATTENTION! ATTENTION! ACHTUNG! ACTHUNG!**************************

Hello fellow Canberra Sportivo/1zz drivers. It is now official, our mini-meet up will commence tomorrow at 9:30pm in the pulic servant (High Commission) car park just up from the Caltex servo (mick's servo) at the airport. Be good to see everyone there and introduce Canberra to the chorus of multiple 2zz's hitting lift!

    LET US BE ONE!

    *****************************************************************************************

  11. Guys,

Today is Tuesday, so that means Thursday isn't far away.

There hasnt been much more discussion about a meet.

Is everyone still up for this?

Should be ok with me mate. I think something during the day on saturday might be better tho huh? I think the three of us agreed to that on Sunday (or not? :S)

Til then, take it easy mate.

  12. Hi, i own a 05 stivo, its done about 2000km now and only recently have i noticed that when i start the car up in the morning and drive out of the street and rev it up in 1st, the hi cam wont kick in and instead the rev limiter will kick in at around 6.8-7.

After a few minutes, ill pull over into a street and try again, and lift will kick in just fine and it'll be fine for the rest of the day.

This is strange since i have only noticed the problem now.

I tried to do a search on "lift" and "rev limiter" but yeah i haven't been able to find a post concerning my problem

Help please! what should i do?

    Cheers

Never, and I mean never, ever give a motor a hard time when it's cold. No matter which car you're in. A good sign as to when you can thrash it is when the temp. gauge in our cars are at just over a quarter usually, maybe a bit higher. This means the thermostat is open and the motor is all nice and toasty warm, ready for action. If you run the crap out of ANY motor when it's cold you will get problems later on, such as a blown oil pump etc. Just NEVER EVER do that again Holim, it makes us cringe lol. Take it easy.

  13. and at last we finally organised something! not a bad little italian car show today if i do say so. but hey, at least we were able to finally meet up (well a few of us anyway) apologies to all other members, it was a last minute thing and only the people who were online at that very moment found out about it, we would have loved to have more there!

so whats the go, do we wanna have a set date for a meet every month, or should we just have a meet and cruise whenever we feel like it and most of us are free. im up for a daytime cruise again on sundays, easier to take some pics and stuff.

as for availability, most nights are fine with me, but as mick said, probably cant stay too late... but we'll see how it all pans out.

cheers anyway to those who made it today! had a mad time, and cant wait till we can increase the size and start to terrorise canberra with rolla pride!

Yeah thanks for a great arvo guys. The time absolutely flew!

Then again so did you guys, I was trailing out back :(

Looking forward to the next meet, hopefully we'll get abit on a convoy happening!

Trailing out back my **** lol. You were fine mate.

  14. I've put this entry in here as it's more related to us Canberra people. So here goes.

Spotted: 2003-2004 preface lift black sportivo in CIT Reid carpark w. superlow springs. Looked to be a 50mm drop. Other than that I didn't pry into it too much. Went to the trouble of leaving a note with my email and the address to this website if they are interested (hopefully they are, hopefully they're already on here and we know them lol). So come on black sportivo person! Join the fun!

Ps: Hey micky once you get the lowering springs it'll be all good man. Alllllll gooooooood ;D

    Peace out...

  15. and at last we finally organised something! not a bad little italian car show today if i do say so. but hey, at least we were able to finally meet up (well a few of us anyway) apologies to all other members, it was a last minute thing and only the people who were online at that very moment found out about it, we would have loved to have more there!

Cheers Mick. Mick and I had mad time too. Terrorising canberra with some rolla pride makes my mouth salivate.

Btw, enjoyed our llittle run we had past Parilament House! We left everyone for dead lmao. Take it easy man, talk to you again soon!

  16. Friday and saturday nights are can only do a little bit. Have to be at work at 3 in the morning. Any other day is usually fine with me tho. Don't care. Daytime cruise wouldn't be too bad either. Unsure on times atm tho.

    Cheers,

"The badger grew wings and flew south to the spoon city."

  17. Hahahaha  Indeed I am. If you were a Family Guy fan you would make the link between "Giggiddy" and my display pic at left.

    <--------------

Anyways. I've got exams coming up but I'm still pumped for cruising with you guys. I also have a big soccer commitment which could pose a problem for thursday nights, but i may be able to still make it depending on time.

I'm definitely a fan of Mick0082's plan of just a little meet if we don't have everyone. And then later on when everyone is available we could get the whole crew organised to come.

Somewhere around the airport is definitely the way to go as Micky and I are friendly with enough people there not to get us kicked out (esp. the servo ;) ) And there are some nice new buildings with big car parks that could be seen as an ideal photo opportunity... You take photo's at meets right?

    Looking forward to it :)

That's all good man. Yeah I'd take photos if I ever bothered to get a camera  lol (Being a musician I spent around $6000 dollars on my guitars, amps, effects units etc, that dented things kinda). Mines stock except the drop man. Not worth taking photos yet for my ride. Hope to catch up with you and mick soon. Take care man.

  18. Given that I still sound like Darth Vader (ulcerated throat/flu) this weekend could be a problem for me also, but it's cool. There's always next week for me. For the record: NONE OF YOU GUYS DESERVE TO HAVE WHAT I JUST HAD! Hallucinations, fever, throat like sandpaper...yeech. I in no way want to give it to any of you! lol

I don't care where we meet now really.

Hopefully I'm ok tho and right by the weekend tho, who knows?

    Anyhooo

    Take it easy people!

  19. I've seen this chick on Akuna St in Civic one day. She pulled up beside me, gave me a thumbs up and turned off towards the Crowne Plaza. I posted up in the "Spotted" thread but havent heard from her.

But yeah, not sure if I am in town or not this weekend but most other weekends I am here.

    Lets get some suggestions happening.

Yeah i saw the same car sitting at Ozzy the day they finsihed with it.....I got out and had a look too, the boys at ozzy said a chick drove it......

Then 2 hours later when i was in town she drove past the other way.....but i didnt get a very look (damn it...lol)

Oh I had a good look lol. I drove right up into Ozzy and parked next to it haha. Went in and immediately got a quote from Mohammed (who was like...WTF? there's two red tivos out the front now???)That car helped me make my decision on rim sizes. 18's fit perfect and balance out the looks of the car. I'll use 18's for the street and the stockers for the strip (if I get there with some mods haha). Btw Airport sounds decent. Theres a car park just down from it that's always empty (high commission public car park I think?) And one more thing...Shell at wanniassa and dickson officially stock the Optimax Extreme 100 octane 5% ethanol now (which you all probably know  ). Cheers peeps!

  20. There is a black sportivo here in canberra which had a kit designed by J-racing on it http://www.jracing.com.au/product.php?pid=21

I have no clue who he is and have only seen him on the road once going past waramanga in canberra. I like the front veilside kit, but the wing and back is not to my taste but anyway. I don't think he's a member but if anyone else know's him whack a few posts here. Cheeeerrrs.

Sorry to whoever owns that car but i reckon its ugly.....

spent all that money for nothing i reckon.

The a55 looks like it's melting...

I posted that like in a US forum and got mixed results. Dammit I've done it again lol. Everyone is very opinionated about that car ('peters' car). You either like it or hate it. Already checked out the meet micky dude. Btw you don't know a girl with a red pre-face lift tivo with 18in konig unknowns here in Canberra do you?

  21. Well count me in as well. Was hoping there were 'real' sportivo enthusiasts in Canberra. All I've seen so far are middle adged women driving them, bar two black ones . Btw there is a girl out there with a red sportivo pre-face lift with 18in konig unkowns on her ride that were fitted by ozzy here in Canberra. Only time I saw it was in the ozzy shop...that's it. Get on here girl and come for some cruises!!

    Cheers peeps.
