I can confirm that my Feb 2012 built KX-S has the new unit (Level 2 Digital Audio).
-
Picked mine up today with 14km on the clock and half a tank of fuel.
-
Picked it up this afternoon. What can I say ... just amazing! Even enjoyed the traffic on the way home. :)
Good luck to everyone else hunting for one. You won't regret it.
-
Update: Car is at the dealer's, waiting for front parking sensors to be installed tomorrow. Will pick it up Tuesday afternoon. :)

Congratulations mate! Well done.
Two weeks to delivery is excellent. My delivery went from "you'll have it in three days" before the deposit to 30 March (estimated). :(

Nice! Congratulations mate! Looking forward to the review ... :D

Hello All, Great forum .
Need bit of guidance, i am in market to get a Kluger KXS FWD. I am in Syndey and got quotes from couple of dealers .
Best quote is for 50k 2012 model . Also need few accessories such as side steps, cargo mats , nudge bar and carpet mats that were quoted for $2100. I have havent done much research , not sure if this a decent offer or i can get better than this. can anyone shed some ligth on it.
Also i am after Financing option too, however i reckon i havent got a good quote on the finance package too as i have seen only few months ago Toyota were offering low rates such as 3.9%, Any thoughts on this will be much appreciated
Cheers
Welcome to the forums, Mursil.
I don't know too much about the 2WDs since I was focussed on the AWDs, but i suspect that you might be able to move that price down a little. Depends on a number of factors, including whether you're trading in, financing, colour, etc. Also depends on whether you're willing to invest the time talking to dealers and haggling with them.
From what I understand, the 3.9% rates are usually special deals run by Toyota for certain events, like end of year or run out models (such as right now). The dealers have to subsidise the low interest rates, so you might struggle to negotiate the actual vehicle price at those rates.

It's done.
Went for the hard close, told the dealer that if he could do $53,500 I'd send the deposit through. He agreed. I transferred the deposit. :D
It was pretty late in the day, so I don't have any paperwork except the quote that he sent me. Their accounts department did call me to confirm receipt of my deposit. Will chase it up tomorrow and kick things off with the financing.
Thanks everyone for your invaluable advice, and for sharing your prices - especially to Keith, Scott and Dave. Knowing the possible prices really does help with the negotiations.
-
Ok. I'm sold! :P
Apparently there's one in stock, so I could have it by the weekend ...
-
Typical. Hopefully it should be all set to go by Thursday.
Makes me want to give in and put down the deposit tomorrow. Got all the finances sorted out today, so it's basically a question of being comfortable with the price. Noticed that I can't find prices close to yours and Keith's online at the moment. Am considering calling some of the rural dealers, although having a trade-in makes this hard since everyone wants to look at it first. The other problem is the aftermarket AVN I want put in. Am reluctant to get the dealer's apprentice installer to do it, so I have to convince the dealer to ship the car to one of my preferred installers before I take delivery of the vehicle (conditions imposed by novated leasing company). Let's see how we go.
Good luck for Thursday, only two more sleeps to go!

Did you pick up the Kluger today Dave? :D
-
Thanks for all the info guys.
Got quoted $54,500 drive away today for a Black KX-S AWD with mats, cargo mat, front and reverse parking sensors, mud flaps and tint on the front two windows.
Originally had side steps on the shopping list, but having a closer look at them today realised that they probably won't get used. I didn't use them to get into the car, and had to stretch over them to get out. Since we've got a 9 month old as well as a 3.5 year old who needs to get strapped in, I feel that the sidesteps will probably get in the way more than anything else. Yeah, they look real nice, but not sure if I can justify spending an extra $1,000 on them.
I can't help but feel that the price could go lower. I'd probably be happy with $53,500, ecstatic at $53,000. The car is going on a novated lease, which is why I need to add all the accessories now. Once I take delivery I can't make any modifications to the car.
Will call a few more dealers tomorrow and see where I get to. I wonder if its worth waiting till the end of the month to start negotiating any harder ...
Thanks again.

Nice! I wonder if any of the Sydney dealers will come close to that. No harm in trying ... :)
Three more sleeps to go, Dave. Congrats!
-
Congrats Keith!
Any chance you could PM me which dealer this was through?
We're about to start our hunt for a 2012 KX-S AWD with the following:
- Black
- Floor mats
- Rubber cargo mat
- Side steps
- Front parking sensors
- Rear parking sensors
- Mud flaps
- Tinting (on all windows, except front, of course :))
The one dealer we've spoken to came back with $60,300 drive away. I also got fleet pricing at $57,997 drive away.
An earlier post indicated a drive-away price of $56,000 which included all of the above plus metallic paint, tow pack, nudge bar, roof racks, luggage pod, and bonnet and light protectors.
There’s also a post which mentions a fleet price of $52,613, so the offer you got for the AWD looks pretty good.

Thanks arc. The 827GA certainly seems to be the pick of the lot, although it also has the price to match.
As a side note, just got back today to Sydney from Jervis Bay (180km one way) and we had the Dig Options unit in the Camry hooked up to a 4GB USB flash drive playing mp3s in the background while guiding the way. While it isn't the swishest of units, it didn't skip a beat throughout our trip. Just makes me wonder if its worth the extra money to get any of the more expensive units.
Any other comments on the other units or reversing camera integration?

Hello All.
It’s time to say goodbye to the Camry, so I had a look around and have settled on a Kluger KX-S AWD. Have read pretty much every post in this section over the last three weeks, so am fairly comfortable with most of the extra options that I’m going to add. The only outstanding thing is what aftermarket AVN unit to put in.
I’ve currently got an AVN from DigOptions in the Camry that I detailed in a post in the Camry section, as well as one in SWMBO’s Corolla. Fairly happy with both units and their functionality, but looking at what options are available for the Kluger.
I’ve done a fair bit of digging around and come up with a bit of a list that I would appreciate some comments on. Since the KX-S has a “normal” double din head unit, most of these options should slot right in, possibly with the assistance of some fascia plates to make things look nice and neat. Steering wheel integration is an absolute must. I don’t have an iPhone (or any other iProducts), so that doesn’t rate at all in my decision making. Most of my media is brought into the car on USB flash drives.
The other thing I should mention is that this car will be under a novated lease, which means that the unit needs to be installed before I take delivery of the vehicle. I can’t add it later, so I need to decide on the unit and get the dealer to install it as part of the vehicle purchase.
One final question: what are people’s opinions of the stock reversing camera? I’m considering getting it hooked up the AVN unit (which may require a “voltage reducer”) or getting an aftermarket one. Has anyone tried either of these options?
Thanks heaps in advance – and for all the incredibly useful information already here.

Hi
Can you please advise where you ended installing the GPS aerial? Did you have it mounted internally or stuck on the dash?
Hi,
Sorry about the delayed response, just got back from overseas on Monday.
GPS aeriel is "installed" (or just simply placed) under the dash. Works fine from there. Hope this helps. :)

HI sokahmed..
Sorry to ask.. might be a stupid question.. with the video you posted.. i heard that it was saying yards & not metres.. is it possible to change that?
Sorry mate. Just been super busy at work and haven't had a chance to check the forums.
Yes, measurement units can be changed from yards to metres.

Hi guys,
Just in case you're interested, I've also installed this unit in my Camry Sportivo, with the appropriate writeup here:
http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=23340
Happy to answer questions and provide specific feedback as required. :)
Overall, even though I've hardly seen my car since I installed it, I've enjoyed using it. The IGO8 software does take a little getting used to, but it's not too bad once you get the hang of it. As has been mentioned, the GPS signal acquisition is very quick, and the sound is definately "better" than the stock head unit.
I've installed the rear vision camera, but mine's a rather crude job with a single screw attaching the camera to the boot. The camera sticks out a bit, but is only really noticeable when you're looking for it. Haven't had a chance to test it out yet because I've still got to run a cable from the head unit to the reverse light power supply, so will provide an update when that's done.
I've tested it using TomTom, which runs fine. Basically stuck it on a SD card, whacked it in, ran it from the OS, and off you go.
And yeah, Matt from DIG Options is great with the customer service. Very happy indeed.
-
Noice! I'm contemplating between the R6 or the GSXR-600 ... just need to figure out how to emotionally blackmail the missus into agreeing ... :)
-
Update: True to his word, Matt from DigOptions sent out the SD card, which arrived today. Will give it a bit of a spin over the weekend, and might even try to upgrade the version based on DJKOR's instructions.
-
Welcome mate.
-
Sweet. What bike are you after?
-
Hehehe ... yeah, she's not "into" cars, but she takes an interest. Oh, and as the financial controller, she'd certainly notice the missing funds.
Having said that, if I mope around long enough, she'd let me start modding the car. Perhaps if I compromised and sold off the motorbike ... hmm ... <_<

After a bit more research and digging, I've settled on getting the Clarion NX501 installed to replace the factory unit, as well as another camera to complement it. Installation is scheduled for late April, so I'll post more details (as well as photos and a review) then.
