I'd back an australian dc2 against a dc5 every day of the week
and if you take them to the track, bye bye dc5, even my sportivo is quicker. Just check out a race meet, all the old dc2's that still race and put down terrific times.
dc5 was a type s or some nonsense, rubbish
ep3 is the dc5 we should have got.
whitestivo
well dc5r's are quicker then the dc2r's if you do it right... and i doubt your sportivo is quicker then a dc5r...
EP3R is a Civic, and the DC5S is an Integra, can't really compare them. We did get a Type R Intregra (DC5R), and it had more of a sporty character to it over the DC5S by virtue of proper racing seats and LSD, but had less power (147kW vs 154kW). Apparently the DC5R was not as comfortable as a daily driven car too.The best ever Type R we don't get (excluding the NSX Type R). That's the current Civic Type R sedan. :(
Gav.
well you can compare the teg and civic but yeah still a bit different
your right on that comment fd2r!! is the best i say also
-
wow really nice car mate!! loving the recaros and the regemasters? dump it more though!! ;)
-
DCR5S is a really nice car, and they feel faster than what they really are. Conversely the Sportivo is faster than it feels. :P
I'd prolly buy a 7th gen Sillycar over a DC5R/S anyhow... $10k cheaper and you have a quicker car. :)
Gav.
yeah the sillycar is awsome my mate used to have one its awsome! but i'd still go a honda over toyota anyday! even though its more expensive its a honda!! ;) ;) not bias at all lols i was originally going to get a dc2r before my sportivo but couldent so had to get a sportivo
-
if i see a dc5, it's on if it's a dc2 type r, i'll back away,
dc5 were rubbish, like gav said, not even a real typr r
whitestivo
what the hell?
dc5r/s will pwn a dc2r with same mods all depends on take off 2L vs a 1.8L
how about a EP3? lols
-
wow you kept up and pulled away from a dc5S sorry but i find that really hard to believe =/ either way gw on that
Aha, I was quite surprised myself, and I'm not the smallest of blokes either! It could be that I had a better launch (he reckons he fluffed 1st too)? But still, I would have thought the DC5S would monster me in general, kind of surprised I started to edge away in 3rd, particularly since he had an SRI.
Gav.
lols yeah in the end its about the driver and launch! also maybes his **** lols =P
-
nice but i liked the other ones better sorry pete ;)
-
Yeah, but it doesn't take much to get your 2ZZ sleaved out to 2L, and then add Stage 2 Piper cams and a PFC. Then you have a Sportivo with some 165-170kW at the crank (would need intake and exhaust done too). Well it takes a fair wad of money I guess. :P But after that you'd have Hondastruction on your bonnet. ;)
Mind you, the EP3 would still be a challange, as they are a lighter car. But DC5R/S would be pooping it's pants, cause they are quite weighty. And even when my Sportivo was completely bone stock, it held against a DC5S in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (I started pulling away). Then came the excuses afterwards (he had an SRI too...).
Gav.
wow you kept up and pulled away from a dc5S sorry but i find that really hard to believe =/ either way gw on that
i was reading the EK9 weight 1120kg or something...do you know the weight of the b16, b18, k20a to compare?
whitestivo
my ep3 weight is 1190 i think
-
my EP3 on the dyno
Good stuff mate.
Why was that dude staring at your engine and running back and forth like he forgot to turn off the kettle?
he forgot to turn on the fan
-
my EP3 on the dyno
-
The power output on that list doesn't surprise me. Except a couple of those DC2 VTiRs are pulling really nice figures (stock 125kW crank.
Gav.
yeah im sure the type r's could of got more then the vti-r's but lols there was some pretty funny faces for the type r owners lols
-
Yeah, come to Winton this year steve ;)
maybe this year depending on how im going with my jobs need money yo!!

Kaze: whitestivo means that hp/L they are about the same. Actually, the 2ZZ is a little behind the Jspec K20A that you have in the EP3, and is on par for peak power/litre with the locally delivered ITS, but the 2ZZ has every so slightly more peak torque/litre than the K20A in the ITS. However, your Jspec K20A would have more power and torque per litre in any case with the figures it pulls.
Peak power isn't the whole story anyhow, since the small cam profile on the 2ZZ isn't as aggressive as the small cam in the K20As. And then you have the whole K20A IS a 2 litre engine in an EP3, a car about the same size that weighs less = Sportivo has no chance...
Phil: I was looking at a chart of highperf motors that covered all the hero 4 cyl motors, and STOCK the 2ZZ was the best for rod ratio, rod length and those fancy things ppl like to think that matter. However the B18C and K20A had more serious engine upgrade potential given the deck height of the block, etc... But this is going way past bolts on performance, and into serious engine customisation.
I dunno why ppl try comparing the 2ZZ to a K20 anyhow, since Honda already have a direct competitor called the B18C... It even makes the same hp (in the local ITR) and torque is about the same too. Once again, the B18C has a more aggressive small cam profile, and is noticeably faster in the Jspec ITR in a much lighter car!
The 2ZZ is a great engine, just reflect on the video I posted of the Spirits MR-S taking on a 330hp S15 with it's stock 190hp. :)
Gav.
Gav,
yeah i get what your trying to say now thanks mate =] go JDM k20a! =P im gonna post up the rest of the dyno figures
it includes a whole range of hondas em1's, vti-r's, type r's (dc2)jdm and non jdm and dc5's
almost every honda that went on the dyno had basiclly all the bolt on mods and i had next to nothing

Some of the ppl on this forum have got 230bhp out of the 2zz..then some in the states have got 270bhp from the 2zz
what is the normal person potential, then the real custom potential of this motor. non turbo
also, this car is a two litre right, so it's producing as much litre for litre as the 2zz, i just wonder whether there is more scope in that motor for development
whitestivo
man what the hell are you talking about?
you have fully lost me hard!
whats this producing as much litre for litre as a 2zz? ill eat a lightly modded 2zz anyday and my cars stock
steve...
-
Thats unlucky Andy,
your car is one of the nicely modded stivos on here, its BANKAI standards B)
but i can't believe they did you for your eyelids... talk about petty :(
so does that mean a few mods will be going :(
Car still looks the goods, regardless B)
Evo
LOL thanks evo ahahah "BANKAI" standards
Send Topstage an email about them. Regarding the Legality of them, if they are an authorised seller and reputable company, im sure they would know the ins and out of the legal system of eyelids.your joking right ? any reputable seller would laugh at you. Your putting **** on the headlight that obstructs the beam, every1 knows its illegal. Dont want problems with cops? dont mod your car!
Honestly i think that if ur bonnet was Silver and your eyelids are 1 piece Silver, it would have not grabbed the attention of the Police and maybe not gotten defeceted+1, seriously, two tone for the loose. Its not a drift car
Nice stab there... I agree with the bit on eyelids but if someone likes the two tone look on their car then by all means.. i mean i like it and all... u can call me bias but heck its personal taste. If you dont like it fine, not everyone likes a roof rack either fyi..
you cant please everyone with every mod you do...
true that!
and grats on finnaly getting rid of the canary andy!! hope it comes back to the way it was soon ;)
