  1. Have got 20,000kms on my kluger and is just a year old & notice my inside front tyres wearing a bit, even after i rotated my wheels and tyres at 10,000kms. i decided to rotate tyres around on rims to get a bit more wear out of the Brigdestones before i have to fork out for more 19" boots. And to get a wheel alignment done.......my question is how often should we be getting a wheel alignment done???? Mine is the FWD version as well B).

Thought i wouldn't have to worry as much with the Kluger as i had a Calias before this and was a pain for scrubbing tyres out :(

  2. Just thought I would share. 255/55/19s Pirellis are on my vehicle and so far I am thrilled. Much less cabin noise and very light. Will report in as to wear.

    E

Evana, great to hear that you have them on and are going well...

    Hi Evana

Any chance of a couple of pics of new rubber :whistling: Would be cool B) looking at the options as we speak..........

  3. I'd recommend the steps if you have kids....handy extra step for them. I bought the toyota ones around $800 or so. other thing i thought was handy is the rubber boot mat protector for cargo area.

Other things i got were, mudflaps, headlight bonnet guards, floor mats & towbar.

    Happy hunting

  4. No, The Altitude from my under standing is a run out model type thing till the end of the Financal year.

Not a bad thing for a family like us that wasn't really keen on leather, but got a few options with it

  5. I installed my toyota side steps without any trouble, same ols story once you've done one side the other takes half as long  The instuctions are pretty staight forward. Also help that i used a work hoist.

No problem with front mudflap touching as they curve in behind the flap nicely :yahoo:

Does anyone know if the genuine ones require the plastics under the car to be cut out? As the ebay ones require this. I'm not too sure whether to proceed.

Yes they do require a bit of trimming but easy to do with a sharp stanley knife...... i don't remember if it was both sides or just one side now B)

  6. Hello board and boardmembers!

Stumbled across this great forum last week while researching our new family car. Between what I've read here and taking a loan car home for the weekend from a dealer I'm convinced this is the right one! Got a budget of about $35-38K and this is where I'm trying to figure out which model and options would be best. After visiting two separate brissie dealers who'd advertised AWD models only to learn each were FWD (after much BS), I'll take my chances buying privately. These are the three car types I can get for the above budget:

    2009 KX-R model, 7 seat, FWD, about 30K kms

    2008 KX-R model, 7 seat, AWD, about 50K kms

    2007 KX-S model, 7 seat, FWD, about 70K kms

I can't figure out which is best, so I guess my questions are about the AWD versus FWD, are the added features in the S model actually worthwhile and how should I take into account kilometers?

We're a family of four, kids 4 and 2 and while the car is mum's midweek I'm pretty keen to explore a bit of wilderness on weekends plus the annual drive to the snow.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Dan

Hi Cruiserdan, Guess it comes down to if u need a AWD or FWD & if you'd like leather interior with some extras or cloth seats of the KX-R.

I have the FWD version and am very happy with it,but do little to none off road stuff. The thing i wanted was a car with some room for kids (16 y/o & 14y/o & 3 y/o) and luggage space, with some performance as well.

Which ever one you go for you'll be pretty happy with them over all.

  7. I installed my toyota side steps without any trouble, same ols story once you've done one side the other takes half as long  The instuctions are pretty staight forward. Also help that i used a work hoist.

  8. My Wife called into the dealer today bout dach rattle..They where very good and gave her another courtesy car to use while they tried to find this mystery rattle?

Well the Dealer rang around two hours later with some good news....Turns out our three year old had left a toy in the car and it rolled under the drivers seat and got jammed under there and was rubbing on the seat runner :whistling: My wife was very embarressed bout the whole thing

The dealer got a laugh out of it & i reckon they were glad to find something, instead of pulling the dash apart!!!

  9. Just took my car for a drive as the wife has been telling me bout dash rattle

Sadly i'm really baffled where it is coming from around the steering wheel, but sounds like a tinny sound, tried to self diagnose the problem, but got really ****ed off :(

Going into the dealer next week for a look. Hope can find something :help:

  10. A little off topic, but was wondering if anyone has purchased a set of seat covers off e-bay?? been looking around now for a while, need to do something soon.

Plenty of stuff on good o'l e-bay B)

I bought genuine steps for my Kluger, been very good for a little independant 3 year old boy that whats to get in the car himself :P

  11. Yeah, mine has had a couple as you said whofan........The wife came home today complaining bout dash rattling today in the cold weather :( ,needless to say i'm looking here for similar issues other owners have for answers ;) Really annoys me, as we thought that toyota would be built better than this.

Also notice that flimsy piece of board connected to the console in the drivers foot well rattles as well???? Any one else had this going on??

  12. I have a 4x7 trailer with standard 14" rims & tyres i've towed it with heavy gravel to cut grass, and had no trouble with tyre size B)

The only problem i had was when i bought the Kluger with dealer fitted tow bar i had no lights??? Turned out the dealer didn't put a fuse in to activate the plug

  13. I bought the Tidal Blue, but originally wanted a white one.........they couldn't get one as the Altitude had finished production, and there was a Blue avaliable. To be honest the Tidal Blue really grows on you :P

Good poll by the way...........not much in the 2wd compared to the 4wd..........interesting B)

  14. Hi all i'm new to this site as a contributer but have watched and read other questions posted, was after any one that has bought any seat covers to suit the current model Kluger?? Particulualy the rear(2nd Row) seats.

I've had a look on ebay and a few other sites, but was interested if anyone has bought them and what they are like?? :P

I just got the sheep skin inserts for the front seats. That would probably work on the 2nd row seats too. Comfy, cheap, looks good, protects seats and doesn't get in the way of any airbags. I think I got mine from Autobarn.

    Thanks Colonel,

Haven't got a couple of Pics by chance?? Would like to see them in the flesh.

Been a chore to find something suitable :(

  15. I wonder if Toyota put in thinner oil for the running in period then the dealer changes to what ever they have at the first 1000km service and it's a lot thicker.

I don't believe they do as there is no service done at 1000km anymore...it's just in inspection.

The first actual service is at 10,000km, so I don't think they'd run thinner oil for the first 10K km....

    Dave

That is true Dave as mine has only 9500km's on it now.............was told that first service was free, but it was only a inspection and check over thats it :(

Will be interesting after the 10,000km service to see L/100kms after that!

  16. Drove 280km home from Warrnambool yesterday and averaged 8.8L/100 on the journey home...which I was really happy with.

Whilst up in Warrnambool the ave. was somewhere between 9.3 - 10.5L/100, depending on what we were doing and where we were driving at the time.

Best mileage was a short stint from Warrnambool to Port Fairy (about 26km) which got down to 8.3L/100 (just after filling the tank).

Considering the size and weight of the Kluger, I'm blown away by the mileage you can get (if driven correctly).

    Dave

Just drove back from Glenrowan in my Altitude 2WD done 430kms and got an average of 10.6L/100, On the highway with the air going flat out? & Five people in it!!

Don't think its to bad concidering.......I'm happy
