  1. Thanks kluger2 that link was spot on. I found that I didn't need to touch the bumper at all. I managed to get the tail light off just the same. You do need to have the special long socket set though and a small handle to get into the confined space. Apart from the socket set and handle costing me $58.00 I think I got out of it relatively cheap. A lot cheaper than if I went to a dealer to get it replaced and now I have the socket set as well.

  2. Have managed to get a good deal on a genuine tail light with a dealer. Just wanted to ask the members if any one has changed a tail light on a Kluger as yet and how hard was the process. Are there any tricks to it, is it easy to change or difficult. If any one has any feed back it would come in very handy as I'm contemplating changing the damaged tail light myself.

  3. Over here in the West the dealers quoted me $342.85 it comes as a complete housing. They don't sell the plastic cover separately. I can get after market LED tail lights for around $360.00 for a pair shipped to Australia. If I don't have any luck with the wreckers I have contacted I think I might pimp my ride while I'm at it.

  4. Just smashed my right hand side tail light last night. Totally ****** off. Got a price from Toyota spare parts and nearly fell backwards. Amazingly the bumper repaired itself within a couple of hours. The plastic bumper just popped back to its original shape. Between my wife and myself have had a few minor mishaps like this and this car is just amazing. Some how it manages to survive major damage. Except this time with the tail light. Would any members know where I would be able to get genuine spares at better prices than the dealers or are they the only registered genuine spare parts suppliers in Australia. It seems I can get prices for parts out of the US for the Highlander Model which is the same as ours shipped here much cheaper. Don't really want to claim on my insurance the excess is about the same as the cost of the light and I would lose my no claim bonus. Any suggestions.

  5. Just wondering if anyone can help in locating the relay switch for the parking lights in my Kluger. I want to connect Led strip lights to it so I can switch them on or off together with my parking lights. Saves putting on the headlights for daytime driving. A pic with the location would be extremely helpful. If anyone has done this tips would be appreciated as well.

  6. Look into the Kumho tyres. We have had ours on now with 41000kms wear and still going strong. Should get around 60000kms. I think they are a bit cheaper than the Bridgestone tyres as well. Have a set of 265/40R/22's on which gives you a very smooth ride. Very little roll on cornering and the cars handles alot better. Worth changing to 22's but just watch your insurance if you do so. Otherwise I'm sure the 19's in the Kumhos would wear just as well. Great price you got on the Bridgestones but if you're not getting the mileage out of them shouldn't you be looking at other tyres?

Had my KX-R AWD for just over 1 week now. I really love driving this car. Its a HUGE step up for me (last car was a 94 Commodore wagon with over 250000km on the clock!). My economy is sitting around 11-13lt per 100km though majority of my driving is 5 minute trips around suburbia so more than happy with that. Had it down to 9.2 on the freeway which is amazing.

There is only one thing that could make me love driving this thing more.... a sound proof barrier between me and the 3 kids aged 6 and under in the back seat!.

    Enjoy

If you had invested in the Grande it would have solved your problem . Our kids have the dvd player on most journeys and you don't hear a peep . Totally worth it.
  8. I have recently started taking our AWD Kluger off road. Had no problem taking it through bush at Wellington Dam WA and handles well on gravel roads but on our last outing on the beach North of Perth we had some trouble getting through soft sand. I know that the Kluger is not a proper 4WD but does anyone have any tips on how to drive a Kluger in soft sand. It travelled well while the beach was flat but as soon as I reached a slight embankment close to the shore line as I tried to pick up the revs to get up it the car started beeping and the engine lost power and the accelerator cut out. After friends of mine got me out of the mess I backed up the beach and tried again. The same thing happened as the car gained momentum and I started to climb the embankment the engine lost all revs and the car was bogged again. Gave up in the end and ended up going to Wedge Island North of Lancelin instead where the sand on the beach is a lot firmer. If anyone has any tips on driving a Kluger on the beach they would be greatly appreciated. I should also mention that a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee was getting bogged in the same spot so my Kluger wasn't doing too badly considering the circumstances.

  9. You can install several lists of contacts for up to five phones I think. You install your contacts under different group names. Just name your particular group of contacts and then transfer all your contacts from your phone to that group name. Do this for each phone. If you want to know how to transfer contacts from your phone to the handsfree of your Kluger just go to my profile look up topics and find the " data transfer mobile to handsfree". Click on that topic and look up dlindsay's reply. The info in this reply helped me immensely. I contacted Toyota and Nokia several times and no one could help me at all. These forums come in real handy sometimes. Not sure if it works the same for iphones though but I figure the same principal should work for all mobiles. I know that most people that have used this info haven't been disappointed.

    Good luck Ryanocer

  10. You can get what in the floorcovering industry they call a needlepunch matting. It comes in various colours also comes with or without a rubberised backing and it can be cut to the exact size of your cargo area. Once cut it won't fray and you can take it out and hose it clean any time. You can buy them from most floorcovering retailers and it's not very expensive. I put black ribbed needle punch in the back of my Kluger and with the cream interior it really looks good. Oh yeah the most important thing is that the stuff is very tough and almost impossible to tear. Hope this info helps.

  11. Ryanocer those rims look real tidy, couple questions do you have any problems with rubbing (doesnt look like you would) and what size are those tyres?

Cheers SHaG. Anyone else got 22's on their car? My car is finally off the boat and getting ready for transport to my dealer... almost time to pick out a tyre I will post pics when I take delivery and sit them on 22's

Had these wheels put on about a year ago now and have had no problems at all. There is no rubbing on the tyres and the ride and handling of the car has been better than the standard 19 inch rims and tyres that came with the grande model. The only thing you need to watch out for is the insurance companies. Not all insurance companies will insure you with what they call modifications to your vehicle. You will need to shop around until you get the best price and for an insurance company that will insure you with these mods.As to the size of the tyres they are Kumhos 265/40R/22

  12. Can anyone please help. My wife has had one of her Lady Gaga CDs stuck in the stacker. I know most of you will say who cares about losing a Lady Gaga CD but I would like to get it out and put something else on. The actual CD doesn't play at all. If anyone has any suggestions please reply.

  13. Hello all and thanks for the site,

So i picked up a new Kluger Grande last week and am extremely happy with it. the only thing i can't get it to do is tranfer contacts from either mine or my wife's phone. i went back in and followed the instructions but still nothing. i get to the 'contacts transferring' screen but nothing seems to happen. in the end i either get to my destination and have to get out... but it still hasn't tranferred any numbers. does it usually take a crazy amount of time?

i have an iPhone and my wife's is a sony erricson.

both phones can connect and make calls through the car system so bluetooth recognises them. but just don't seem to want to transfer.

is there something simple i'm doing wrong?

    help would be great.

    cheers

  14. hi

i'm a noobie to the site and this being my first post and all i'd like to know where you guys found your wheels ? i searched around the net and cant seem to find anything. Also how much is a set of 22" wheels and tyres going to cost me

We hope to pick up our Kluger the next couple days, only a 2nd hand job but in good condition and it's a 2007 model

Sorry attached my reply to the wrong post.Check this topic for my full reply

  15. I found my wheels and tyres on the tempe tyres web site and had them freighted over to Perth. I know a lot of people on these forums bag the hell out of these guys but I've had no problems with my wheels or tyres to date touch wood. The prices are very reasonable especially if you buy a tyre and wheel package. When they arrived I just had the guys from Ian Diffen fit them on and it wasn't a great expense to swap them around. Just be careful however and check what difference it will make to your insurance premium. Some insurance companies won't cover you at all with such modifications and you could find yourself having to change insurance companies like I had to.If you get frustrated checking on insurance quotes send me a message on my members profile. I spent two days on the net and on phones trying to get the best deal and in the end I did.

  16. Eureka ! You're a bl##dy champion. Over 350 contacts I was able to transfer from my mobile and my wifes mobile as well. I was also able to split the contact numbers into two groups mine and my wifes. You wouldn't beleive how much time you have saved me. Toyota couldn't solve the problem and Nokia didn't want to know about it either. Once again many thanks I knew this car was worth every cent we spent on it.

  17. Too soon to tell have only had the new tyres on for a few weeks. Will probably be able to tell you after we've done a few more km's but from the way the car drives and the minimal roll you get when cornering I'd say the front tyres should wear quite well.

  18. Anyone got pics of their pride and joy wearing bigger wheels, please also let us know the dimentions, ie tyre size.

Blackkluger I have finally got around to taking some photos of our pride and joy with the new wheels and tyres. The tyres are Kumhos 265/40R/22 and don't compromise the driving performance of the car at all. If anything the driving and cornering is better than when the original bridgestones were on it.The car tends to hug the corners much better probably because of less distortion of the tyre when cornering.Hope you like them. post-17758-127601525832_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601529513_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601531723_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601534624_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601536428_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601538565_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601540274_thumb.jpgpost-17758-127601544183_thumb.jpg
