  1. Hi there, The speedometer in my car (98 Camry V6 Csi) is not working, and the check engine light is flashing. I just came back from the mechanic and he checked the speed sensor and speedometer - which was ok. He suspected that the gear in transmission for speedo sensor collapsed, and this will required transmission removal to repair. The quote was a whopping $1200! How many speed sensors are there altogether, and from my reading online, there is a sensor just sitting at the back of the transmission....but not inside? Does the mechanic's diagnosis make sense to you guys?
  2. The cigarette lighter has come loose in my 98 Camry Csi. I have to hold in the phone charger before it charges, and the power is not consistent (i.e. it goes on and off). I have replaced a blown fuse, but I think I may have to either tighten the cigarette lighter or replace it. How do I do this? I saw a youtube video --> but I need help with removing the actual console. Thanks!
  3. I just recently realised that my car's RPM does not go to 0 or start at 0 when its stationary. What could be the problem? My speedometer is faulty, and the mechanic told me that I have to replace the sensor. Could the RPM problem be related? Thanks!
  4. I did the calculations, and it is now consuming 19.24litres/100 km. Still fairly poor compared to the should-be-brand-new fresh from the factory consumption at 11.5l/100km. I know its an old car, and fuel consumption is inevitably higher. I sent it for a service, and all. But now the 'Check Engine' lights keep on flashing, and the speedometer doesn't work sometime with the 'O/D Off' lights keep on flashing. I should probably get the electronics checked. Will this be a major job? I just want to prepare myself mentally for a huge mechanics bill :-)
  5. Thanks all. I have just filled it up, and see how it goes. I filled it to the brim at about 56 litres, and will monitor. Thanks again!
  6. Hi I just bought a 2nd hand 3.0l 1998 Camry CSi. I filled up my tank 3/4 full last week, clocked only 133 km, and its now due for refilling again. There is about 1/8th left from the fuel gauge. I drive predominantly in the city, so there is a lot of stopping and starting, not to mention revving up slopes and stuff near where I live. Is the tyre pressure too low at 33 psi? Any clue as to what is the problem? Is this normal? Thanks!
